I've been to serenity once a few years ago with ryan and my haircut was great, but my experience today was with Amelia. Customer service - I scheduled a last minute appt and whoever was at the desk was super sweet about my indecisiveness. Not a fan of the nonrefundable deposit but no worries, just make sure you're sure about booking with them. Experience - only waited about 5 extra mins from my appt time (1:30pm) it wasn't busy at all and Amelia was super sweet from the start! It was so easy to have a conversation with her and she listened very attentively to what I wanted (soft, shaggy long layers, gentle mullet) I also have alopecia but she treated my hair very gently! Haircut - 10/10. Love it sm! Amelia gave it the blowout look and it's stunning. Would definitely come back for her again. Even as a lvl 2 stylist she did a lvl 5 work easily. Yes I did my hair done over there, My first week of get it done it was fine color but started to fade for a couple of weeks. Long story short it becomes a nightmare. I booked with Jasmine and Christina on separate occasions. Both are great artists, and I highly recommend them both. Jasmine gave me a trim and blowout a few weeks ago, and Christina gave me a wash and blowdry with curling as my style preference. Both have been amazing and sweet. They ask questions about my hair preference, gave me healthy advice for hair care, and were social butterfly's! I decided to give Serenity Salon & Spa a try because I've heard good things about their stylists and have seen their work. I genuinely believe they have talented people on their team. I just needed a haircut and thought this would be a good place to go. Before booking, I was curious about the deposit amounts listed online--$35 or $40. I wasn't sure if that was 20% or 50% of the service cost, and I wanted to avoid any surprises, especially since I wasn't looking to spend over $150 on a haircut. When I called, they clarified that the deposit was 50% of the service cost. This was unusual for me, as I've never been asked for a deposit at a salon before, but I understood the reasoning behind it and went ahead with the booking. I arrived 10 minutes early, was greeted by a stylist, and was promptly seated in a quieter area of the building. After that, things went a bit downhill for my experience. The receptionist acknowledged my arrival, confirmed my appointment with Larissa, and then disappeared for a while. I noticed her peeking around the corner a few times while on the phone, which made me wonder if something was wrong. Five minutes past my appointment time, she returned to let me know that Larissa was finishing up a "meeting" and would be with me soon. Then she disappeared again. Twenty minutes later, I was standing up, feeling frustrated. If I hadn't already paid a deposit, I might have left. The receptionist was nowhere to be found, and there was no communication about the continued delay. To be honest, I'm not even sure the stylist I booked with was even on the premises. Larissa eventually came out 23 minutes past my appointment time, meaning I sat there a total of 33 minutes. I've never had this happen before when I'm paying for a service like this with an appointment scheduled. There was no apology or even acknowledgment of the wait, which felt unprofessional. While waiting, I began to notice other details about the salon. The floors were buckling, the carpet was dirty, and there were spider webs in the windows and dust on ledges and electrical conduits. The place could definitely use some upgrades but more importantly, a deep cleaning. I did appreciate the drink menu they offered, but it was so understated that I didn't feel encouraged to enjoy anything. A little more emphasis on this feature could enhance the overall experience. I also appreciated the ambiance attempt of the quiet hair-washing room with relaxing music, but the dust and grime elsewhere in the salon affected my impression of cleanliness. All I could do was stare at the feathers in the light fixture above my face and think about how dusty they must be. Although it ended up slightly shorter than what she initially showed me, Larissa seems to have done a good job with the cut. I believe there are talented individuals working here and I don't want to discourage people from trying their services. However, the extended wait, lack of professionalism and salon's cleanliness issues didn't make for a great first experience. I hope the salon owners can take this as feedback to implement improvements to better support their stylists and customers. read more

Walking in I was welcomed right away and offered a drink. I waited less than 5 minutes in the waiting room for my hair stylist. I got my haircut and colored by Christina and she did an incredible job. She asked a lot of specific questions about how I wanted my hair colored and cut which I really appreciated because she was really detailed. She was also very nice and easy to talk to. Go to Christina! I got a haircut by her and she LISTENED to everything I wanted and executed my vision. I asked for 2 inches off my length, shorter layers all around, and face framing layers. I love how she asked to show me what 2 inches looked liked to me and she cut just that much only. When she completed my haircut, I asked if she can add a few more shorter pieces and she did happily. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would! I've never felt so disappointed, unheard, and disrespected at a salon before. I came in with clear inspiration photos and very specific instructions: I wanted beige blonde/Ash highlights soft, neutral, no red or orange tones. I said this multiple times! After over 4 and half hours in the chair and spending more than $550, I walked out with the exact opposite of what I asked for: a harsh, orangey ash tone that looks nothing like the reference I showed. What's worse is that no one not the stylist, not the receptionist, not the manager seemed to care at all. When I gently raised my concern, hoping for a solution or at least some empathy, I was shut down. Amelia gave me a generic response like, "Oh, if you want it to look more like the inspo pic, you'll need to do another balayage" which, of course, I'd have to pay for. After spending that much time and money, that's the response I get? No apology, no offer to adjust or fix anything. Just a shrug and a price tag. And the manager? Completely unavailable. Every time I asked to speak with her, I was told she was "in a meeting." She never came out, never checked in, never even acknowledged there was a dissatisfied client in her salon. The complete lack of accountability or professionalism from the entire staff was shocking. I left feeling completely dismissed and honestly robbed not just of my money, but of my time, trust, and the little peace I had as a new mom trying to do something nice for herself. I chose this place because it was close to home and I didn't want to travel far with my infant but that convenience turned out to be a huge mistake. If you're looking for a salon that listens, takes pride in their work, and actually cares about their clients, this is not the place. The staff here clearly have no interest in client satisfaction, only in charging as much as they can and sending you on your way. I'm definitely going back to my regular salon in Fremont to get this fixed somewhere I know I'll be heard, respected, and actually get what I ask for. I wish there were a way to show this stylist and the salon staff that the exact look I wanted can be done - just not by them. I would never go back or recommend this salon to anyone. There are so many other places that know what they're doing and treat people with respect. This isn't one of them, this was a hard and expensive lesson I'll never forget. read more
