She put so much time and effort into preparing everything. And it was such a wonderful performative experience. All of the children and parents had a wonderful time! Miss Cheryl comes from a long family line of school teachers, and you can tell she loves working with children from her demeanor and the creativity, which came into planning this event. If you are ever able to visit one of the mommy and me sessions with her, I strongly recommend it! After story time, we were able to see Laura the Docents paper crafts which are available for sale and we were given a walk-through tour. It was incredible to see Cheryl's childhood bedroom and the phenomenal collaboratively family built dollhouse, which was her mothers and then hers. Thank you for such an amazing time and for making Halloween so special. McDougal Home is such a phenomenal piece of old Florida history and what once was of the farmland.

The floors are the original Dade County pine wood like Old... ...Davie School and everything is still originally built except for the electric and water running thru the building. The third floor had a beautiful painting display in 3 different rooms and there was a model.... ....room of what this building should've looked like during it's early motel era. I was told customers only paid around $2 to spend the night here which was alot back in those days. Before you tour the building there's a historical short film about Fort Lauderdale in the lobby downstairs which was exciting. Only downfall, you have to pay for parking outside. Another thing was, none of the staff... ...told me that there were two more houses outside to look at, everyone stayed quiet. I was charged my $3 with food stamps to see this. But I'd recommend you ask what is available to see before going on your own.

Captain Dominick picked us up on time and as promised we could bring on our own drinks and snacks. His boat was clean and he has a great setup for all 5 of us to fit comfortably, we loved the bean bag chairs. The two hours was a perfect amount of time and he showed us some beautiful houses as we hung out and spent time together laughing, chatting, and listening to music. I would highly recommend for a more "intimate" experience and I think anyone would enjoy Captain Don as their host.

Stuart and William L. Kester were originally from West Virginia. They came to Pompano to pursue…read morefishing in the 1920's and in 1937 built the wood frame bungalows that they called "pepper crates" in Pompano and Deerfield Beach. Since they were inexpensive to build soon everyone was constructing them for residents and visitors alike. They were constructed of Dade County pine and had indoor plumbing and running water. They measured 25 feet by 35 feet. Some had a beach view and ranged from one to three bedrooms. At their height of popularity there were 150 of them. All of the cottages were white with playing card suites cut of out their shutters. Houses cost under a thousand dollars to build and you could rent one for as little as $29 a month. I wish you could still get beach front property for that amount. The two Kester cottages owned by the Pompano Beach Historical Society were donated to them by Kester's nephew Stewart. They were moved from their original location to Founders Park behind the Historical Society building. Usually they are locked up but they open them for tours when they do the once a month historical trolley tour. The next time the cottages will be open is on January 12 from 9 to 10 AM. The cottages are filled with historical items from Pompano Beach's history. If you can't tour them they have a wonderful 3-D virtual tour on the website they have have set up for the cottages. One other Kester cottage remains on the grounds of the Butler House in Deerfield Beach.

Matter of fact, of all the gay bars in the city and there are a lot of them, there is only one straight bar, Red's, but about as gay friendly as any straight bar can get. So, it's really nice to know how it came to be and how it evolved which is where Wilton Manors Historical Society comes into play. The history of Wilton Manors isn't very lengthy, actually not much to it, but enough to hold ones interest. The Society will explain it all from its beginnings back in the 1890's with early settler William Collier and its first significant 345 acre plat by E. J. Willingham in 1925 right on down to the present day. The Society has all sorts of books, records and early day pictures of Wilton Manors and the all-volunteer offices and members are more than will to share the stories behind each and every one of them. As the Society meets or sets up at different places it's wise to phone in or check their web site for current information. As a membership society, $25/year and may be paid online by clicking "join/donate" on the main web page. The one thing about the history of Wilton Manors that sets it apart and makes unique, unlike any other city, is that present day Wilton Manors came into being, developed around and because of a gay bar, Georgies Alibi, though I haven't heard the Society go into that facet with any detail. As they really provide such a wonderful as well as valuable service to the community, or as they put it "Yesterday's history is today's reality," Five Stars.

If you are thinking of booking, do yourself a favor and look at another cruise line. First of all, the premium beverage package is a scam. Imagine my disappointment when my room steward told me the drinks from my mini bar were not included. Drinks over $16? You pay the difference, thats not premium, that's misleading advertising. I had a balcony, and it did not come with any ammedities like robes, slippers, toiletries...all the above were complimentary in other cruise lines. The buffet was another let down. Fatty, unhealthy food options with barely anything balanced. If you care at all about what you eat, you'll be frustrated. But the absolute dealbreaker for me was the customer service. At the specialty Japanese restaurant, our waiter told my group of 4 that plum wine was included with the meal. Two of us had the drink packages, two did not. We told the waiter this and he assured us it came with the meal. The two without the drink package were charged. When we raised the issue, the restaurant manager, Steven, was shockingly rude. Instead of listening, he dismissed us, insisted his staff wouldn't say that, and basically accused us of lying, over a $12 charge. He made us feel humiliated and disrespected. That interaction alone was enough for us to never sail MSC again. When a cruise line's management calls its guests liera rather than fix an obvious mistake, that tells you all u need to know. MSC hides behind fine print, skimps on food quality, and shows zero respect when issues come up. I will never give them another dollar, and as someone who has over 7 cruise under her belt, I'd strongly recommend anyone considering them to look elsewhere. There are plenty of cruise lines that actually value their customers.

MSC Musica Cruise, Embarkation on Oct 23, 2025 From Geno, Italy…read more Room Details Musica is an older ship. It is in fairly good shape, but don't expect too much. We were on deck 12 and near the front of the ship. We had a balcony room. As we walked down the long hall towards the rear of the ship, we would always pass a section that smelled like sewer gas. We were glad our room was not in that area. With our room being one level down from one of the main areas, we were woken almost every night between 4:00 and 5:00 am to the sound of chairs and tables being dragged across the floor. We learned later on that this was the daytime crew, preparing for service. Nonetheless, it was frustrating. The temp control worked well in our room. The space was utilized efficiently, so suitcases could be unpacked and stored away, with enough closet and drawer space for all of our belongings. Dining & Cuisine Keep in mind that I am very picky about the quality of food. The breakfast buffet has mainly the same selections each day. We had the "Plus" package so we could get fresh orange juice, coffee and bottled water. The juice and fresh coffee were good. During the lunch buffet, there was always some freshly carved meat. Beef was included one of those days and it was acceptable. When the selection was pork or turkey, it was dry. The pork or poultry in the buffet was almost always dry. I was hoping for good pizza, because the ship sails out of Italy, after all. Although they are making it from scratch, it was bland and didn't satisfy me, so day one was the only time I ate it. Most of the time, the cocktails that were made were pretty good. Each night, I ate in the formal dining room. The food there was better than the buffet food, but that was to be expected. It wasn't always up to my standards, but I have high standards. Entertainment & Activities I normally don't engage in most activities on cruise ships and sometimes seek out quiet areas of the ship to relax and have dialog with the people I am cruising with. On this ship, it was hard to find quiet areas. The musicians on the ship were quite talented. Demographics & Atmosphere Travelers on this ship were mainly older, but there were also some babies and toddlers and always seemed to be near me wherever I sat down, letting out ear piercing shrieks. When the buffets were full, and seating very limited, people got pretty rude. Actually, there was quite a bit of rude behavior in general, at the buffets. I am referring to the passengers and not the staff. Service & Staff This is where this cruise line shines. Almost every crew member I encountered was very helpful and polite. I even made a few new friends! I am adding a picture of four badges of crew members I want to give special recognition to, for making the cruise much more enjoyable. I hope the cruise line recognizes them for their outstanding customer service. Value for Money Considering the amount spent on this 11-day, 10-night cruise, I believe it was worth it. When you are not spending top dollar on a cruise ship, you really can't expect everything to be high-end. For this reason mainly, I rate this experience a 7 out of 10.

There is the two restored Kester Cottages that were moved to the park in the 1980's, a 1926 firehouse that contains the cities first fire truck, a 1926 American LaFrance and a 1948 American LaFrance, and Pump House No. 1, also from 1926. Other park amenities include tennis courts, a playground, and a shuffleboard court. On September 11, 2019, a 9/11 memorial was dedicated at the park. Founders Park was chosen for the memorial because it contains the cities first fire house and the memorial pays tribute to the 343 first responders killed on 9/11. The Pompano Beach Historical Society launches a lot of events from this park. They hold dinners in their building, operate historical trolley tours that leave from the park, and give tours of the Kester cottages. Besides the historical value, this is a great park to play tennis. It is nice to see Pompano working so hard to embrace their past.

When my family was embarking on a cruise from Fort Lauderdale, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to introduce my own kids to the Jungle Queen. It's a short boat ride that takes you through the canals behind the mansions and quasi-famous homes on the water. Your guide on board will tell you about the homes and landmarks you pass en route. There is a bar on board, so no need to sail sober! LOL There are also a few snacks for purchase. The air movement on the boat keeps you from getting too warm, even when the sun is blazing, but don't forget your sunscreen. There's no bad seat aboard. All in all, it's a nice little boat ride if you're looking to get outside and burn some time in Fort Lauderdale. There is a string of food shops along the waterfront outside the entrance, so you can plan to grab lunch or dinner before or after your ride. We really enjoyed our trip, but I'm deducting one star due to the boat traffic (which I know they cannot really help). Maneuvering around all the other drunks in their watercraft was kind of a drag.
