But most importantly, Ben was kind enough to wait for us to get to the lot rather than selling it to the two other buyers who arrived before us. Wow! I didn't know used car buying was a competitive sport, but it IS! Ben waited for us because we had already paid for an inspection and he wanted to give us right of first refusal. I really appreciated that. This car has a few dings and scratches--typical of an 11 year old vehicle, but mechanically it's great! It handles great, everything works....no complaints at all. We're very pleased with our purchase!

When I arrived, they were friendly to talk to, understanding of the situation, and were willing and able to complete the work that day. They worked quickly and efficiently and walked me through what was going on and they made sure to update me with anything that came up while they were working. I valued their communication since sometimes it feels like companies want to hide what they're doing behind closed doors, especially when it comes to female patrons. The repair ended up being far cheaper than any of the quotes I received from other companies and was completed before the other shops had finished writing up their quotes. They first inspected it and recommended I replace a valve because there was a bit of liquid around it and that could be where the leak is coming from. I paid $400 for them to inspect the AC and replace this valve. Took my car home and a few days later the AC was not working again. I called back and they didn't seem surprised that it had stopped working. They told me they had put a fluorescent dye in when they recharged my AC so that it would be easier to spot the leak when I brought it back. I now know this is common practice and was necessary to identify the AC issues, but I dont know anything about cars and was annoyed they hadn't communicated this. They replaced the valve again and within days my ac stopped working. They quoted me to replace my entire ac system. At this point I got a second opinion and found out the problem was with my condenser and it was an easy fix. I called pampered auto care back bc I was hoping they'd offer me some kind of refund for wasting my time. Instead she kept insisting that the other place must've missed something and fixed it wrong, she told me she would be surprised if my ac lasted through the summer and would give me a refund if it did, but said she's "never been wrong before" My ac works perfectly. I called again now that it's the end of summer without much expectation. She insisted I bring the car by so they could inspect it and "make sure I didn't end up getting my compressor replaced too." I don't want these people to ever touch my car again bc it's clear they have no clue what they're doing, and she just kept trying to argue with me on the phone about how I waited till October to call when the end of summer is in September. He does price shopping like we did in the old school days and he gave a very reasonable estimate and called every time there was a delay on the part (excellent customer service); less than two weeks later we picked up my daughters car today and the body the body looks brand spanking new! AC is cold as ice and the car is purring. Two thumbs up to the "Grandma and Grandpa" shops that still exist. Excellent work. Trim bling is on back order. Everything in yellow was crushed.

I like small businesses who seem to care whether or not they get your business, and based on that I chose this shop over the other five that I'd also taken the car to for estimates. The reasons I was dissatisfied with my experience: 1) Vehicle wasn't ready on promised date. They informed me it was because they underestimated the repairs and would need an extra day, during which time they would make an additional claim on my insurance for the extra hours of labor. 2) Vehicle wasn't properly repaired. The back hatch, which is what they were supposed to repair, wouldn't close properly. I was told to bring the vehicle back the following week, at which time they would file an additional insurance claim for me. I absolutely felt like they were trying to nickel and dime as much out of the transaction as possible. 3) When I expressed concern about being without my vehicle for additional time, I was rudely informed that "when you get in an accident, being without your car is just something you have to deal with". After having already been without my car for longer than promised, I felt the comment was rude and out of line. Of course I never bothered to take my vehicle back to them and it's still not fixed properly because I don't want to deal with them anymore. 4) Final cost for repairs was more than 10% above their estimate. I understand that an estimate is just that - an estimate, but when they tried two separate times to get me to authorize and additional claim on my insurance I absolutely felt like they were trying to squeeze more $ out of the transaction, which I found less than respectable. I certainly won't take my vehicle to this shop again, nor would I recommend it to any of my friends.
