Was introduced to this spot by a friend. He loves coming here for tacos. This is a cute family spot and great for groups. Service is quick and the food is flavorful. I was able to try a new dish with a side of old familiar items. The Pupusa y queso was delicious. You have to eat it quick because once the cheese gets cold it looses all pizzazz. But luckily I had some pillowy soft rice and sweet plantains to add to the mix. Portions were perfect. Would definitely return but I do need a vegan option on the tacos. read more

This was my first time trying this place at the recommendation of a friend. I ordered 2 Birria Tacos 1 Chicken. I ordered online and paid extra for cheese & sour cream on the side. My order was wrong. The guy tried to charge me extra for cheese & sour cream that I already paid for. Had to show him in the app. The Birria was a dried mince meat. I've never had dry Birria mush from a restaurant that claims to be "authentic". This place has great tacos. Since traveling to Texas three times last year my standards for good tacos has significantly increased but Ponchos taco let me satiated. The staff were polite and helpful. There are a few small tables to dine in which I opted for. I tried three tacos (beef birria, steak, and carnitas) and chips and guac. My favorite by far was the birria followed by the carnitas. The house made sauces paired wonderfully with the chips and tacos. This is my new go to place for tacos. read more

Food is actually decent even though you wait almost a hour for just 3 tacos and where the cashier doesnt offer silverware or any sauces to put on the tacos. Not even sour cream!!!It's also freezing inside and for some reason they allow so many teenagers in that literally paying patrons have to stand. What makes it even sadder is the fact that the establishment does nothing to make the paying customer feel welcome. I watched a group of male teenagers between 14-17 yrs of age come in while a paying patron was sitting and eating. The teenagers literally sat down at the man's table cursing and just being disrespectful and again establishment did nada. Craving some tacos mid day on October 2, 2025 while exploring the Baltimore waterfront. It was hot. Poncho's Tacos was nearby so stepped in on a whim. Delicious foods and beverages. Everything fresh and freshly made - chips, guacamole, tacos, tostadas. Fresh melon juice (yum) and horchata. We were the only patrons when we sat down, after ordering the place filled up with obvious regulars. Everyone behind the counter and in the kitchen was welcoming, friendly. All patrons were sitting or picking up phoned orders. It was buzzing inside. Bathroom was clean, well lit. Same for the tables and floors. This family pays attention to all of the details and its patrons notice. Highly recommend Poncho's. read more

I came across this place while studying at cross street market right across the street, and I am SO glad I did! The restaurant itself is small but nicely decorated. They have a wide selection of traditional Mexican dishes. We ordered the tacos-- Al pastor, carnitas, and birria. They are a bit pricey at $4.25-5 per taco, but SO worth it! The Al pastor was my favorite, it was incredibly juicy and flavorful, and the pineapple really rounded it out perfectly. The carnitas was also so tender and delicious, and so was the birria, which was paired with a flavor-filled consomé. The workers were also friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back here to try out some of the other dishes on their menu!!! read more

Fantastic authentic Mexican food. It was honestly one of the best meals I had during my weekend memorial day trip. I had Sopa de Rez, which was a beef soup, and it was a HUGE portion served with fresh jalapeños, chives and lime. The taste was absolutely outstanding, and I now find myself craving it back in Ohio. I also had a few bites of a Birria taco, as well as their homemade fresh chips and salsa. I'll be back to Baltimore for Browns Ravens game in November and I am absolutely going back to Ponchos tacos. Amazing tacos, every single thing we tried was solid. The standout was the tinga but also props to them for doing both chicken and beef birria. The res, pollo, lengua, and tripa were all also well seasoned and cooked. They give you a salsa rojo, salsa verde, and a pico de gallo style salsa and everything works well with the tacos. I had the beef birria tacos, which came with a consomme sauce, and they were delicious. My partner got the chicken plate which she enjoyed as well.
