I have chosen Dr. Ellen Hancock as my surgeon for my September surgery. From the moment I met her, I felt comfortable and at ease. I was impressed with her education, knowledge and experience. I have researched her "before" and "after" photos of her patients. I also liked how she took her time explaining the procedures and process of recovery. She addressed my specific needs and offered suggestions. The office is beautiful and the front desk staff were welcoming and accommodating. Her patient coordinator, Amanda, was very sweet and explained everything in detail. She was excellent in coordinating my appointments and worked with me on my schedule. I am just about to have my post surgery 2 week follow up. I have gotten quality care since my very first consult. Everything was explained to me in great details and I got a lot of paperwork to read over. I first had a consult with Dr. Bates and then worked with the surgery scheduler to find a date that works for me. I then did pre-op appointments to go over all my medication's and do some don'ts. Everything was explained to me and given to me in writing. Then came the countdown to surgery. Dr. Bates staff checked on me and made sure I knew what to do leading up to the big day. On the day of surgery I went to their surgery center, which was clean, nice and relaxing. I was nervous when I went back, but everyone was so kind and friendly. I woke up in recovery to wonderful staff members. I did have to stay the night but had a very cozy chair and a night nurse who felt like my best friend taking care of me. Michelle, the Practice Director, has been trying to give me medical advice for weeks until one of the doctors finally told her that's not ok. I scheduled surgery with Dr. Hancock and planned a month off with babysitters and time off from work. They scheduled my pre-op on a Wednesday before Monday surgery. Apparently, there was a question regarding my LDN medication and they tried reaching my internist's office. They were upset they weren't able to reach the doctor or get the answer they wanted regarding whether to stop the medication before surgery, so canceled the surgery on the Friday prior. Once I found out about this at noon on Friday, I went directly to my internist's office and rectified the situation. Dr. Hancock finally called me directly and we discussed all of this. She said it was too late, they had taken me off the schedule, that anesthesia had also made the decision and that she had to "trust me as a patient". She said she had gotten different information on different days. This was the first time she had opted to pick up the phone and call me. Nothing changed. I felt like she was also accusatory in some sense. I told her I thought this situation was handled incredibly poorly and unprofessionally!! I can't imagine they wouldn't work through these kinds of things much sooner in case there was any issue or question. This makes me second guess my choice of practitioner and practice. I've worked in the operating room for many years and in physician's offices. I don't think I will be rescheduling and I hope they can streamline their communication in the future so other patients won't have the same poor experience. I feel like this happened for a reason. Edit: I just found out that the office and doctor both were not up to date on Low Dose Naltrexone. Apparently due to the fact that I had requested no narcotics with anesthesia and this medication (which at high doses is used for opiate and alcohol addiction) which I take for an autoimmune disease, they thought I was an addict! Doctors, please actually talk to your patients, their other doctors and be up to date!! I rearranged my entire Summer for this and was accused of not telling the truth. read more

Last year I was treated by Dr Bates for gynecomastia. I paid $4000 for the procedure. Afterwards he kept telling me that I should be patient and allow time for the fat tissue to be absorbed. After 9 months it became evident that wasn't going to happen. I looked exactly the same .ie no change. I did my research ahead of time and came to the conclusion that this was not that difficult of a procedure. At my initial consultation Dr Bates was very enthused telling me he was going to remove a little fat here and heat up the area to emulsify the fat. At no time did he say this would be a difficult surgery. When I went for my 9 month consult he said that he told me this was a hit or miss procedure. That was a blatant lie. And of course there was no recording of this so it is my word against his. I then had the surgery at Dr Trimus' office, It was quick painless, and I could see the results in 30 days. What a difference! Looking back I'm sorry I trusted Dr Bates and regret going to Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery. There was a disclaimer I signed just like with any surgery that there could not be a guarantee of good results. I had no results! This unscrupulous outfit took my money and refused to give me a refund. I would have been happy with half of it back. When you walk into the surgery center in PVB it's like walking into a palace. I guess it takes a lot of money to decorate and keep it looking good. The hell with patient satisfaction and the customers that trusted you!!! read more

I first consulted with Dr. Hancock on 11/17 and she was ok very talented by her photos and reviews but bedside manner I was wishing for a bit more. She barely smilied but was nice it was strange and akward. The nurses and staff were very kind to me. After my consult I spoke to Beth the Patient Care Specialist and we spoke about the surgery more and all of the details and she said they don't submit until January. I was wanting a breast reduction and tummy tuck was not 100% sure on the tuck since I was told I will be under for about 7-8 hours and I was unsure about that so Beth told me to think on it. Also, just for the tuck seemed very high at a cost of $16,505.00. So, I recently went to another Dr. for one last consult before I make a decision and decided to go with this new surgeon/practice instead. So about 2 weeks later I get a letter in the mail from my insurance company saying ok congrats your surgery with PVPS is approved. My surgery approved nice but boo I don't want to go to PVPS any longer. Also, I was ticked that they have not spoken to me since November and did not even know what I decided on but you submitted to get paid! So I had to contact Cassie which handles the VOB with insurance and I wanted it in writing so I emailed her and CC'ed Beth and no response. I called the next week left a voicemail for her and Beth no call back and so I sent a second email and 45 minutes later got a response. Email below... Cassie 10:55 AM (45 minutes ago) to me Good Morning. I received both messages. I called your insurance company last week to let them know to cancel the authorization. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Take care. Hmmmm want me to be your patient but now just take care. And in the first email I asked for you to let me know it was taken care of but you did not bother to send a quick email last week. Also, since my consult I have been speaking with friends and family and when I mention PVPS they say run like my hair is on fire. And I also was not aware I would have to pay for the consult and they said upfront that I do not owe anything but yup they sent me a bill for $119 for that consult. But, I do wanna thank them for that because it went towards my deductible for my surgery. If you decide you choose PVPS that's all you but sure glad I avoided that one. read more

I have been getting Botox from dr. Scioscca for about a year-and-a-half. He is more concerned with his own appearance than helping anybody else look good. I've spent a lot of money with them. They dilute their Botox so much that it hardly last a few weeks. When you call to tell them about it they won't give you an appointment right away and by the time you do it is almost time for your next appointment anyway. They don't want to give you a prescription for Retin-A because they want you to buy their expensive products that contain a small amount of retinol. I learned the hard way but you don't have to. read more

For more than 25 years, I've been carrying around enormous breasts. I've wanted to have a breast reduction/lift surgery for so long but I was too afraid. Finally, one day I was over it ... or them, I should say. Because I had been using PVPS for my Botox, I decided to begin my search for the perfect surgeon there. I was told that Dr. Hickman was amazing with breast jobs, so I scheduled my consultation with her. While waiting for the time of the appointment to come, I researched several other doctors but kept going back to Dr. Hickman ... to find out later, for good reason. My consultation was in February, 2020 just before covid. We did get insurance approval (I was going from a 34G to a 34D) and my surgery was scheduled. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, it got pushed back three times. But finally, on the morning of May 15, I was on my way to the PVPS surgery center. I was too excited to be scared and Dr. Hickman definitely helped me with this. I KNEW my life was going to change that day and it DID! And just a few perks - Dr. Hickman doesn't use drains and my sutures were all internal so my incision lines were clean. I am 6 months post op now, my scars are barely visible, and my breasts look amazing! Now I can wear bathing suits without a bra under, I can wear sundresses without having to wear a harness underneath. I can jog!! Jog!!!! I could never do that before! He did and ok job, but lopped off what they call, DOG EARS!!!! So sloppy! I still have messed up areas where he did this so poorly. Never even offered to fix his mess. Had the audacity to call a yr later for permission to use before and after photos...I said,' Sure-but, it still looks like shit!" emailed the photos to them and as you may guess, my photos weren't selected to use as advertising on is precious site!!! I received a gift certificate for a Signature Facial at Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery. Based on the description on their website - which said the facial included "deep facial skin cleanse and steam, neck/shoulder massage, pore extractions, exfoliating treatment, treatment mask and arm/hand massage" - I was expecting something relaxing and pampering. Instead, the aesthetician assessed my skin, cleansed it and put on a micropeel to address an acne breakout. The peel was incredibly painful and felt like it was burning my skin off. After she washed it off, she put moisturizer on my face and then proceeded to try to sell me $200 worth of products - and that was IT. No pampering, no massages, no relaxation. After I left (feeling embarrassed that I couldn't afford the $200 product push) my skin continued burning the rest of the day and throughout the weekend. My skin got red and blotchy and it's peeling off in sheets like the worst sunburn you can imagine. My face looks AWFUL and I just want to hide in a cave, but unfortunately that's not an option because I have to go to work. In short - my skin is worse off than it was when I walked in the door. I was expecting a relaxing, soothing facial and got something completely different. SO disappointing. read more

I have had 2,different procedures with Dr rumsey; a bleph at 40 and I had a hematoma in one side which burst open and was uneven for 14 years until I went back to have it redone, the next blepthronplast was fine and corrected the problem , I had lived with for 14 years, but I was charged for the revision . I also opted for minimal liposuction under my chin, he used.the liposuction tool that is used for abdomens. He caused a series to form and I had to have surgery 3-4 more times to stop my. Saliva glands from draining ito the underneath of my chin, my neck has looked deformed ever since from all the surgery's and scar tissue; when I asked , they said the only way to get a normal appearing chin was to get a mini lift; even though they were totally at fault, they told me, I would have to pay full price! On top of that, the really disappointment is that Dr Rumsey and I went to same medical center during our residencies; he for plastic surgery and me for anesthesia; even after his second botched surgery he had done; he did not offer to correct either botched procedure; and I had always considered him a personal friend.
