Over cut, exposed and irritated skin

After using Pooch Parlor for my pets for the last 4 years, I will never visit again. At my last visit to Pooch Parlor, my 7 month old puppy and 4-year old goldendoodle were not only butchered, but acquired infections that led to multiple rounds of antibiotics and visits to the vet. The vet and an independent groomer confirmed that these infections were due to them being cut too close plus the irritation from the shampoo. Had we been alerted to the shampoo irritants we could have addressed it immediately with a rewash and topical treatment. Because they withheld information their conditions became more serious. my puppy now suffers with serious anxiety and fear of strangers since this incident. Please be very cautious bringing your pups here. When I met again with the owner, she was apologetic; but not willing to admit any fault and in fact said I could not confirm or deny even that any event happened with the knicks on his head. After agreeing to reimburse for half of the medical bills, months later she still has not paid or responded to any additional messages in response to the issue. Do not take your pets here, even after admitting to fault, using poor shampoo (that she disposed of), and agreeing to reimburse for medical bills you still won't be made whole.

I've been going to Pooch Parlor for 4 months now and I have absolutely no complaints. Of course it's no secret that our pets are out children so it's important that we can trust who we leave our kids with. From the first visit I never felt that they weren't going to take care of Max. He's very small so I always worried him getting hurt. They are however very sweet, patient and gentle with him and he's always super excited to see them, putting my mind at ease. With reasonable pricing and flexibility to boot this is my go to spot! Highly recommend!

We are new to the area, so we're we're looking for a new groomer for our long hair chihuahua. Had an appointment at a different dog groomer that didn't work out because of their error in scheduling. Called Pooch Parlor they got is in on the same day. I am so grateful to them. Customer service is excellent. They did a great job cutting our dog's hair and nails. Bart looks great! Thank you to the staff at Pooch Parlor!

We bring our big dog here when we are in town. $35 for bath, ears, and nail trim is a good price. They are super nice and listen when I have any concerns. For example this trip I was worried about his nails being cracked, he's a nail biter, they checked them all out and buffed them instead of cutting when needed. They gave me a full report on them when I picked him up. I appreciate the extra attention to detail. His coat is soft and he smells good again!

After the appointment he smells good and is happy

Jenna has been grooming the office dogs since the beginning of 2018 and has been grooming my puppy since June of this year and we couldn't be happier. She always texts the day before reminding us of the appointment and is usually like 30 minutes early when the mobile grooming truck arrives. She always does an excellent job and the dogs are always happy to see her. It is a relief.

Misty all pretty up from the parlor!

I was a little wary, having heard stories about pet store groomers, but I trusted these opinions so I brought her in. From the very beginning, they listened to me while I explained how to handle my dog (she can be a diva) and they took me seriously. They would check in after each appointment, letting me know what went well and how quickly she was improving and getting more and more comfortable each time. There has been some turnover, but we have stuck with Bailey all along and it's been wonderful. My dog, who was very nervous about going to the groomer and needed to be drugged up in advance, now wags her tag in excitement when she realizes where we're going and drags me through the store to greet her friends in the grooming room. She jumps up on the half door and lets herself into the back room, settling right into her favorite kennel (that they leave open when she's scheduled)! The rest of the staff with whom I have interacted have also been wonderful. They come to recognize the regulars and will chat with you if they have a moment. It's really a positive experience and a wonderful place to go.

This happened at the 208 St James Ave location on Saturday, May 16. I came in around 1:00 p.m. to use the self service dog bath station while running between errands. It should have been a quick and simple visit, but it turned into an extremely uncomfortable experience because of Sheldon, who I later found out was the store manager. From the moment I walked in, Sheldon had a rude, dismissive, and unpleasant attitude. At checkout, he gave me a receipt and told me I needed to give it to someone in the back. When I walked to the bathing area, there was no one there to check the receipt, explain anything, or assist. The self service dog wash area was dirty and not well maintained. There were 2 bath stations, and the area did not look properly cleaned. The dryer also was not working properly, which is a major problem when someone is paying to use a self service dog bath. When I asked how I was supposed to dry my dog, Sheldon handed me a towel and said he doesn't really go back there and didn't know. I also asked if they had a rubber scrubber or bathing brush available because many self service dog wash stations provide something to help wash through the dog's coat properly. I was told to just use my hands. A groomer came over and said they use their hands as well. I understand some dogs may have sensitive skin, but if basic bathing tools are not provided, staff should be able to explain that professionally instead of making the customer feel like they are being difficult for asking. The worst part was Sheldon's behavior. Instead of handling a simple customer concern calmly, he became rude, dismissive, and started cursing. The altercation happened around 1:14 p.m. When I began recording because of how uncomfortable and unprofessional the interaction became, he claimed that I cursed at him, which I did not. I tried to speak to him calmly, and when I said "my friend," he responded, "I'm not your friend," and walked away. That type of behavior is unacceptable from any employee, but it is especially unacceptable from someone in a management position. A manager should set the tone for the store, speak to customers professionally, de escalate concerns, and help solve problems. Sheldon did the complete opposite. I do want to say that Colin was polite, professional, and friendly. After Sheldon left, Colin tried to speak with me and apologize on behalf of the manager. His communication felt appropriate for a pet friendly, family environment, and he handled himself well. Everyone else in the store seemed friendly, which makes this even more disappointing. One person's conduct completely ruined the entire experience. I also noticed another recent Google review from a customer raising concerns about the self service dog wash area, including safety concerns with the setup. Based on my experience, it seems like the dog wash area may need serious review from ownership and corporate. I left the store around 1:29 p.m. and later submitted a complaint to the owner contact provided to me by a female manager at the store. I will not be returning to this location. The self service dog wash area was dirty, the dryer was not working properly, the support was poor, and the store manager's behavior was completely unacceptable. This location needs serious attention from ownership and corporate.

No one informed me at pickup, and the manager tried to blame it on my dog being matted, which does not justify multiple injuries. The boarding experience was just as concerning. When my dog was picked up, his belongings were disorganized, and his bed was returned soaked in dried feces. Staff admitted multiple dogs had diarrhea but never contacted me. They also said they sometimes give dogs pumpkin without notifying owners. Communication between staff and management was extremely poor, and no one seemed to know what was going on with the animals. It appears my dog may have been left in an unsanitary condition for days without proper care. The staff showed little concern or accountability, and responses felt scripted and dismissive. Overall, this facility lacks proper communication, cleanliness, and care. I will not be returning and urge others to be cautious when trusting them with their pets. I have recorded calls and photos so i do not want to see this business coming back with some weak response. My mom used them years ago and the experience was top tier. She got photos sent to her everyday, a report card saying whether he ate or didn't and if he actually played with the other animals or not. We spend our hard earn money and trust that this place is going to take care of our fur babies. Communication is key especially when dealing with animals who can not tell us what is going on. If i could leave 0 stars i would. Please do not bring your animals here i don't care if it's your last resort. I made a post on social media about it and the responses i received were out of this world. The front desk girl Danielle has absolutely no idea what is going on and the male managers response is always what do u want out of all this. Umm I want absolutely nothing from you because my dog is never coming back. I want yall to get your stuff together and take better care of the animals that are left in your care... i have contacted the owners and the appropriate people. I WILL BE TAKING THIS THE DISTANCE and i truly mean that. Sincerely a loving and caring dog owner. I need to speak up for these poor animals and let future owners know what's really going on here because it is absolutely unacceptable all across the board...
