Let me tell you, I've been searching high-and-low for a great place that groomed cats. I've been to 3 places prior and the jobs were subpar. However, Pooch Styles delivered from my initial appointment setting to grooming my Maine Coon, Odin! The staff is nice, place is clean, smells amazing, AND Laurie is an amazingly nice person and outstanding groomer; I found my place. After three years with another groomer, I tried Pooch Styles with Richard to try a new groomer. With respect to time, everything is timely. Regarding the cut, it is satisfactory. Regarding attitude of the groomer, don't expect to be warmly welcomed or friendly atmosphere as I did not get that vibe from Richard. Regarding dog's safety, definitely a no or a fail. He left cotton balls in my dog's ears, which was there for a week before we were able to remove. When I notified Richard, he apologized but didn't feel that he was sincere. I hope this serves as a lesson to Pooch Styles, and to any dog owners out there looking for a groomer. read more

After the reviews, I thought booking this place was for sure the right place for my fur baby. I got my fur baby home and the products they used on him gave him severe dandruff. I don't know what they used to trim under his feet, but they cut the skin off around his paws! All four of his paws are raw! I have to get him medical care to ensure he doesn't have an infection, in the meantime I have to use topical ointment to help with his pain! STAY AWAY FROM THIS GROOMER!!! UPDATE: the owner contacted me immediately after my review; she seemed very concerned about my complaints and refunded my monies. I appreciate her concern and wanting to remedy the situation. I will not use this grooming salon again, but I do appreciate her reaching out. I will be taking my fur baby to a vet that I trust to ensure he gets the proper care he needs. read more

Location is perfect from my home. I learned of this establishment as they were featured on a local news program. Thus, I decided to try after my Maltese continued to return from a local chain shaking and jumping in my arms upon my return to retrieve him. Switching to Pooch Styles and the owner, Kionna, as his groomer this problem discontinued immediately. Kionna handles the pets with care and affection. A little pricey, but well worth not having him traumatized or hurt. Unfortunately, the time the pets arrive for scheduled appointments have them not seen at that time and the return time is much too long. Overall - I remain supportive. read more

Updated Nov 19, 2018: TL;DR: They injured my puppy, left her with a bleeding wound, and didn't even bother letting me know. The beginning of the 11/18/18 grooming appointment for my 8 month old Lhasapoo puppy started off with the male employee asking me if my dog drinks out of a water bowl, which I honestly thought was a silly question, but I digress. He mentioned that the tops of her ears were matted and it would cost $1 per minute to comb out. The female employee told me my puppy did indeed have a small amount of matting at the base of her ears, nothing serious, and it would cost $10 tops. I expressed that I only wanted her to be trimmed since the weather was cold, and that I was most concerned with getting her hair out of her eyes. Lhasapoos/Lhasa Apsos are meant to have longer hair; I prefer my dog fluffy and got her cut short during the summer only to keep her cool. After I got the call that my puppy was ready, I quickly returned, waited ~15 min until my puppy finally ran out with her hair cut very low. This was not the trim I asked for. Making it worse, her ears were completely shaven. I asked the female groomer if it was necessary to do her ears like this, and she told me "It's better to have a fresh start." I was not pleased at all but at this point there was nothing I could do to reverse the bad haircut, so I paid the $77 owed, took my pup and left. I wish that's where the story ended. After I got home, I was playing with her and noticed that she flinched in pain when I touched her. I looked her over and that's when I saw it: 2+ inches of raw, bleeding skin. They cut my baby and did not even have the decency to inform me. I was furious. I called Pooch Styles and left a message to call me back immediately. When I got the owner, Kyonna, on the phone earlier today, she explained that she was not there to witness what happened but that the groomer said she did not see any injuries on my dog and did not realize that she had been cut. I told Kyonna I would email her pics (and I did).There's NO WAY both of the workers did not see that huge patch of missing hair and bloody flesh. All I asked for was a refund, as I did not pay $77 for my baby to be harmed. I was not asking for money for a vet bill or anything. Kyonna said that I would have to bring my dog back to Pooch Styles to be inspected and taken to her own vet. Why would I inconvenience myself any further, especially when I'm sending you pictures?? What else do you need to see? I trusted your business to do right by me and my puppy and that trust was broken, why would I trust you again?? She said that's her policy--well what's the policy when it comes to hurting someone's pet? Do you always not inform the owner? We ended the phone call with her sarcastically telling me to have a happy thanksgiving. That's the level of professionalism you should expect from this establishment. She also said she would respond to any reviews regarding this incident so HI KYONNA. You've already shown your behind, so I'm not sure what else you can say. I wish I would've went with my first instinct when I was dropping my pup off, said "nevermind" and taken my baby home. Do yourself and your fur baby a favor and find another groomer. read more

Today was my first time visiting them, they followed All COVID-19 safety protocols by doing curbside pick up & drop off for your dog. If it is your first time they check your dogs vaccination records to make sure they're up to date, they also give you some paperwork to fill out so all of your information is on file. My dog is a Shorkie he is 2 years old and about 20lbs, they gave me an estimate of 3 hours for his full grooming, It took much less than 3 hours (about 2 hours) once they're done with grooming your pet they give you a call and let you know that your Dog is ready for pick up. The price is very reasonable, i paid $70 for a full grooming & they did an amazing job! I 100% recommend this establishment! Best groomers I've visited since my dog was born. I will definitely be coming back!!! (They even give your dog a little bandanna collar lol) They did an AMAZING job. I am a recent arrival to Suitland, MD and so it was important that I find a groomer for my cockapoo, Chuchu - a pup wants to look his best when he's making new neighborhood friends! I made an appointment for 9:30 today with Eboni. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Eboni for a curbside pick up. After a brief review and Q&A, Eboni took Chuchu inside. Eboni called just a few hours later and said that Chuchu was ready for pick up. Eboni brought Chuchu out to the car and right away I loved what I saw. My baby was soft and fluffy and I could see his eyes - he is very handsome - no sign of the raga muffin that he was this morning! I usually take my dog a spot in Clinton or have her Doggy Day Care groom her. But a month ago I discovered this outstanding jewel of an establishment literally 3 minutes from my house. The customer service from booking to payment was top notch. The wonderful young ladies very informative and patient as I asked my million and one questions. My dog came out smelling like a millions bucks and her nails were done perfectly (They painted them pink for free because we had a commercial shoot). She came out from the back happy and spry (not like "GET ME OUT OF HER DADDY"). Her wash lasted weeks (shine and smell). Their prices are very reasonable and I get the added bonus of supporting Black Business. Needless to say I will not be making that move to Clinton for grooming again. read more

It troubles me write this review. I was very happy to start taking my dog to pooch styles 2 years ago. It seemed they were providing a great service to our community, they had a passion for pets and my contact with the groomer Ebony and the bubbly cashier were always great. First I made an appointment and a week after they call to reschedule. Ok, things happen. I take my dog for his appointment and the shop has moved 2 doors down. So that didn't warrant a call? Just as a courtesy? Now I drop my dog off at and I am told 2-3 hours...... 8 hours later I pick him up. Ok. Same cut is now $15 more. $92! I understand it's a for profit enterprise but I feel unappreciated for my patronage and price gouged. As a black man I want our people to succeed but just as much.... do better. read more

I brought my poodle there after reading good reviews on yelp. I called and was able to book an appointment the same day. The staff was courteous and the facility was clean. My dog was giving me trouble brushing his hind legs so I was concerned he would give them a hard time. He didn't, and the staff was able to give me tips on how to brush him and keep him groomed in between appointments. They did such a good job, I'll be bringing both my dogs here regularly. read more

I'm a new customer who've used their services twice, upon my 3rd appt, I called to reschedule and the receptionist did not assist me instead she denied me from scheduling another appointment until I paid a missed appointment fee. I was and still am completely fine with paying a late fee, yet the receptionist wouldn't suggest another date until the late fee was paid. The groomers are great. The only reason I've given this review 3 stars is because the person at the front desk checking in your pet has a very bad attitude. I don't pay $65 to groom my pet, only to get a sour attitude, no smile, no greeting, and eye rolls from the person in charge of greeting and checking in clients. I will probably try this place again, but if the same girl with the nasty disposition is at the front desk, I will probably go to another grooming salon. It's really disappointing that Pooch Styles offers outstanding grooming services, but don't understand that outstanding customer service is just as or more important than the services provided. I would say put the front desk person in the back grooming the pets, but not sure I would want her handling my pet with a bad attitude.
