Saratoga Spa State Park - Bunch of lazy state workers can't walk 50 feet from a proper parking area??

    Saratoga Spa State Park

    (77 reviews)

If you find yourself in Saratoga for any reason at all (horses, golf, family, passing through,…read moreetc.), do yourself a favor and spend some time in the park. I've actually been to Saratoga several times before, and this was my first visit to the park, and it is BY FAR my favorite thing in Saratoga. The grounds are beautiful, and surprisingly large. The large buildings that house the Roosevelt Spas and more are well-kept, with the areas around them landscaped and looking like a beautiful college campus. There are also miles of hiking trails, equestrian trails, fishing, biking, disc golf, boating, and more. We weren't quite prepared, but walking around the park was enough. The tall trees, the running water...I just needed a little nature in my life. There is a reason that the Saratoga Springs are known far and wide, and the weirdly salty, effervescent water purportedly has a ton of beneficial properties. It also creates strange and wonderful rock formations, and you'll come across a few spigots where you can taste the water, and see how it affects the rock around it. I highly recommend doing a bit of exploring.

But the park itself with the mineral Springs and the mineral spring River running through it and stops all along the way where you can taste the different Springs and the pet friendliness! This is a gorgeous amazing spot and I will be coming back here over and over

    Public Pool at Tawasentha Park

I had the afternoon off, and decided to take my kids and one of their friends to the public pool at…read moreTawasentha Park. We had a great time. The pool is open to residents of Guilderland. I needed to show my ID to an employee in the booth at the park's main entrance, as well as the employee at the pool's gate. Kids ages 6-14 get in for $1, adults are $3, and there's no admission fee for seniors or little kids. The T-shaped pool is well maintained, and very clean, surrounded by a chain link fence and a nice lawn, where we put our towels and sandals. The pool was about 75 degrees, I'd say, perfect for a hot July afternoon. I stayed with my daughter in one of the shallow sections (the steps are nice and gradual), while my boys and their buddy enjoyed the diving board and deeper section. While we were there, I saw five or six lifeguards. They rotated shifts every twenty minutes or so, so that there were always two lifeguards on duty. The only eyesore was the remnants of a locker room / pool house fire, adjacent to the pool. I think it happened a year ago, but it doesn't look like much cleanup has been done. An interim "changing trailer" has been brought in, but since we arrived already in our swimsuits, we didn't need to use it. It's great to know that this pool is available! We'll definitely be heading back.

As a resident and tax payer of the town I have to say our trip to the pool was such a…read moredisappointment. Our review isn't about the fact that the kiddie pool closed for the season without letting town residents know or the fact that the sign says the pool closes at 7 and it closed at 5. It is actually about the manager at this location who shared her name was Lindsay. She is an unkind, loud, and not a kid friendly person. The kiddie pool was closed without our knowledge and therefore we didn't pack the kids life coats due to this (the kiddie pool is only one foot deep and they don't need them typically). The staff encouraged the kids to stay and play on the big pool stairs instead. However we really regret doing this as everything they did on the stairs was criticized by Lindsay. At one point I asked the front desk if they had life coat rentals and was told no.....however we were loaned a life coat by the front desk from lost and found. As soon as our 5 year old entered the pool with the coat on, loud taking Lindsay came over and demanded he take it off and shouted that parents need to be responsible and bring their own. When I explained that the front desk said it was ok she replied that he doesn't work for them and he doesn't know what he is doing. She spoke so loud to me that all the people in the area we were in were able to hear her and the guests next to us commented about how inappropriate she was after she walked away. She embarrassed herself and My family was quit anxious after that as she drew so much attention. After she left a five year old in tears by demanding he get out of the pool and take off his coat ....she then spend the next 45 minutes sitting off to the side of the pool correcting the kids for every time they jumped or sat too close to the railing etc. Our family will be visiting other pools in the future, sadly not our own town pool. And Lindsay needs to revisit her profession. Maybe a job where you yell a lot and don't interact with small children.

I would highly recommend Cypress Pools for any and all of your pool needs. I am in the process of…read moreselling my home and my IG pool needed to remain open past the normal pool closing season due to a pool inspection. After the pool inspection was completed, which was the 1st week of November, I began calling companies but none of the pool companies around the Albany area would come out and do it except Cypress Pools. Cindy and Renee were very friendly and accommodating and schedule the pool closing immediately. They did not over charge or add an extra fee knowing many of the other companies would no longer provide the service. Cypress pools were understanding of the situation, honest, professional and the price quoted was exactly what they charged; no last minute add on. Thank you to the team at Cypress Pools especially Cindy who made a stressful home sale very smooth in the pool area. I would not hesitate to recommend Cypress Pools for any pool related issues, pool services of opening or closing or pool installation.

This is my third year in my house, and the third year I was dreading taking care of my pool. Last…read moreyear was bad, constantly cloudy, a money pit. I decided to throw in the towel and find a pool maintenance company for this season. After calling a lot of companies, I found the no one wanted my business as much as A Sunny Day Pool did. His prices were reasonable and cheaper than others, so it was an easy choice. I had him open my pool ($175) and return to vacuum it. His rate for cleaning is $50 an hour. It has taken me hours of unsuccessful vacuuming in the past to even remotely get my pool looking good. My pool cover fell in a little over the winter so there was a lot of leaves in the bottom. He brought out his own equipment and got the pool sparkling clean in exactly 1 hour. I am not kidding when I say that is the best $50 I have ever spent. It is two weeks later and my pool is still sparkling clean. I have him scheduled to come again this week and do a clean up before a party. Hiring this company for my pool was a great decision. It is just one man, but he is reliable, professional, and gets the job done perfect and quick. I would 100% recommend him to anyone in the Colonie area looking for pool maintenance. I will continue to use him through the summer and the rest of my years owning a pool.
