I have used whips for the last 7 years. They are reliable and know what they're doing. They open it before memorial day for us, and then close it right after Labor Day. I called them for a quote and was supposed to hear from someone. Never heard back. Called back to get quote again and never heard back. I am very frustrated with all of these Pool companies justifying being busy as a way of not running their business efficiently. Had a new liner installed at the end of last year only to find significant wrinkles in it upon opening the pool in the spring. I called in May asking for it to be fixed and was promised it would be fixed in about a month. Several months and numerous calls later, I want to close the pool and will have to do so now with the wrinkles still in place. Tons of excuses, zero results from the company. I would not have realized how poor it was, had they not failed to acknowledge my mailed renewal forcing me to find an exceptional service, Diamond Pools! For the first time since acquiring this home, our double Roman gunite pool was crystal clear. It was instantly noticeable that Whips Pool has not been training their seasonal staff. It would normally take an additional three visits after opening to dip a toe into the pool. Whereas this year, following the opening and one cleaning my pool was unrecognizably lovely and algae clear for the entire season. Had an above ground liner replaced (it was only 5 years old), Spoke to Erin in the office numerous times to get the right liner picked out and have someone stop by to make sure the pool was in good shape for new liner. Happy to report it was, technician Tom was in constant contact with owner via cell phone. The next day the install team came over - Arrived promptly at 2 and finished at 330. My experience with Whips Pool Service was disappointing at best. After 17 wonderful years with the best pool service person who unfortunately retired, I turned to Whips. The quality of service was poor from opening the pool through the 3 cleanings I endured before firing them. There is zero level of communication between onsite workers and the homeowner. The pool opening consisted of folding up my wet cover and stuffing it in the bag. I don't know what they did to the filter, but the pool was not clean. I asked one cleaner to set the timer and he did not know how. The next cleaning, the pool did not get clean and it would require a service call and of course, the added expense. When you open a pool, don't you make sure it works? Needless to say, I fired them. Also, I was promised a refund for one cleaning and was told that because I canceled service they "had" to charge me. Aside from being unethical in my opinion, it's just bad customer service. I wasted approx. $600+ and decided it's not worth my time to argue. I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. I rely on honest reviews, this is not sour grapes, or a dishonest evaluation, just an effort to help consumers. It does not feel good to publicly write a bad review, but I felt I must. Three years ago I purchased a new home with an existing inground pool. Upon opening it for the first time a series of issues were uncovered with my pool. Whips pool service came out on short notice and was able to not only fix all of the issues, but they were significantly cheaper than all of the other companies I had come out. I have been using Whip's Pool Service ever since for openings, closings, and any maintenance. I have seen Brian the owner personally work on my pool in passed sundown to make sure the job was done. Had an appointment to get a liner installed. They supposedly showed up and couldn't do the job because they're not pool installers. Never spoke to the person that was home to say why they couldn't install the liner. I had to call them to find out why they weren't coming. Project was an inground pool install and a large amount of concrete surround/patio. Required some additional tree removal after we started and even with this and weather/rainstorms during the install, we were swimming in under a month. We love our pool and everyone we worked with was amazing and kept us up to speed during the entire process. They were incredibly helpful with decisions to make sure the pool shape and location made the most sense for our yard, as well. I can't believe how quickly it came together! No stars for this company, would not use again or recommend. I recently bought a house that has an in ground pool that Whip's closed in 2017. I am new to the area and have never had a pool so thought using the same company that closed the pool would be a good idea to open it. I explained when I called to make the appointment for May 25th why I called Whip's based on previous service from Whip's and that I am a new pool owner and know nothing. The guys came (do not know their name as they would not introduce themselves) and were at my pool for maybe 10 minutes and used maybe $10 worth of product to shock and treat the pool. I told them I had no knowledge of pool care and upkeep along with if they could show me what each machine associated with the pool was (filter etc.); with an exasperated sigh they spoke as fast as they could to name each machine and told me to watch YouTube videos if I wanted to know more - or spend $90 for them to come back for an hour of their time to talk to me. So after $200 and rushed service, I felt completely taken advantage of and discouraged. What was supposed to be something to look forward to ended up with me wanting to pour cement in the pool. I called the business number and spoke to the same woman I made the appointment with and she said she would let the owner know. Waste of $200 as I could have opened the pool in view of what 2 guys did. I was completely disenchanted with having a pool based on how these guys treated me and their horrible service. Would love to get my money back or part of it however 5 days later no calls or concern from the owner. Find another company in the Saratoga area...it will be worth your money and mindset. read more

The people who answer the phone and schedule service are friendly. They had the best price in the area for an opening and did the job quickly. However, they left some safety cover anchors up saying that they were frozen and someone would be out to fix it. Okay. It was weeks and two phone calls (including being told I wasn't even on the repair list) before someone came out. And then I find out that they kept my credit card number on file - WRITTEN ON PAPER. How did I know? Because they called me to say they tried to run it for the anchor repair but it didn't go through. I was never told they were doing that, or that it was just written down on a piece of paper somewhere. While not technically illegal, it's unacceptable, not secure, and bad business practice. I'm switching to a different service for reasons and have requested they destroy that information. I hope they actually do it. read more

At first glance the installation price seemed a bit high, however after getting pricing from other installers, Whips was right in the middle. Had them close my pool last year and they claimed my skimmer line needed to be repaired. I followed up the next year and figured if they do the repair might as well open the pool at the same time. So on day of pool repair they show up at 7 am without so much as knocking, no door bell no nothing just walk into the yard and begin work. Eventually one of the workers came around to let me know skimmer line was fine and that was basically it. When I called to see about billing it took 3 days to get a hold of someone and then was told I was being charged for a repair and pool opening. Repair that wasn't authorized and a non existent pool opening as no chemicals were added and our pool wasn't even filled up. No one ever followed up or came back after they "repaired and opened my pool". The guy I spoke to about this was rude and not accomadating. The fact of the matter is if I wasn't told that my skimmer line needed repair they would have never been at my house to begin with. Poor customer service all the way around and would not recommend- GO somewhere else. read more
