We decided that this paired with the incredible window displays was a sign that we had to stop in to shop around. As a huge fan of accessories, especially earrings, I was immediately drawn to a large display in the back of the room with endless cute earring options. I couldn't leave without adding two new pairs of earrings to my collection. One pair was $28 and the other, more elaborate pair, was $32. There was a wide assortment of seasonal and every day accessory options. The boutique also offered a great selection of clothing basics, a sales rack, and some great seasonal pieces for affordable price points. In addition to my earrings, I snagged two trendy hair clips for $12 each.

Walking through the plastic air curtain opened up to a shop that held so many fun patterns and a wide variety of colors! I hesitate to use the term "boutique" because Red Lantern seems more casual than that implies. There's no pretension, but plenty of whimsy. Service is equally relaxed but helpful. You won't feel pressured. Pricing isn't cheap, but it isn't outrageous either. The shirts I bought were reasonable, especially since I can't find the patterns anywhere else. My partner also found an amazing dress that I'm certain she'll enjoy for years to come. Red Lantern really seems like a hidden gem on Royal!

I took the dress home, then found out the event I had been planning to wear it to was canceled. The following Friday I went back to the store to return it. No one was there, despite the signage and the website saying the store should be open. I called the number on the website and a different number on the front door asking when their hours were. Didn't hear back. Okay, fine. I sent them an email. Never heard back. I went back to the store the following Sunday. They're closed despite the signage, again. So finally on May 16th I bring the dress down there a third time, on a Saturday this time, and they're open. They explained that they don't usually do returns, but that they'd allow me to make a return this time, in exchange for a gift certificate, but it would take a few days to process. They wrote down my email, phone number, physical address, and said they would get back to me by the following Tuesday at the latest. I also left the dress with them, which now I see was a stupid move. It's June 2nd! I've called them! I've emailed them! I've physically gone down there, and they were, surprise, closed when they said they would be open! They have obviously not responded to anything. So: I don't have a dress. They have my $200. They're not returning my calls. What am I supposed to think, here? I'm obviously never buying anything from them again, and I strongly suggest you don't either.

A stylishly dressed mannequin caught our attention as we walked by the shop. We decided to stop in, peruse the shelves, and chat with the manager. We didn't end up making a purchase, since it is pricy for an unnecessary purchase. If I lived in the area, I'd likely return here when in need of outfits for special occasions.

This place was an absolute treasure trove of beautiful clothing and accessories. Y'all, this is not your average "Talbot's from the 90's" stock that many "vintage" stores contain (and yes I understand that 90's qualifies as vintage these days!) This is the place to go for a show-stopping special occasion dress from the 1940s, with intact jeweled buttons and a peplum detail at the waist. Or a flowing silk robe from the 1920s with a bold print of fans and florals. Or a beautifully carved sweater clip to accompany the fur-collared cashmere from 1950s. You get the picture! Now, this shop will have a higher price point than your average dig-through-the-rack vintage, because literally every piece is a gem. That said, the pricing is incredibly fair for what you are purchasing! I will treasure the pieces I bought from my visit last weekend, and can't wait to return! Every piece was unique and intricately designed, with most having a vintage twist to them. I saw pieces that reminded me of flappers and others that reminded me of old Hollywood.
