Not sure there's a better cover band in the Bay Area. Pop Fiction absolutely killed it for our wedding in July 2021. Our venue was at a winery in Sonoma and never once did I have to worry about the band. Dan MC'd the whole night and also ran the music during cocktail hour and also had great sound for the ceremony with wireless mics so everyone could hear easily. The band was very interactive with the guest through the whole evening and everyone was dancing and having a great time. If you're looking for a band who plays the Horah, look no further. This was the best part of the night and Pop Fiction just kept on playing while people were dancing. We had the 7 piece version of Pop Fiction which was perfect but they go up to 9 piece with horns and I'm sure they sound even better. For Pop Fiction's performance, I have witnessed this band in two company party events already. They are the legit deal!! They perform music from 70's - 80's -90's and are great with their performance. The band members all sing and can get their grove on. Haha. They play their instruments well and all in sink! We hired Pop Fiction (7 piece band but you can go up to 9 piece. Our venue was in the Santa Cruz Mountains so 7 was enough) to be our live band at our wedding. They are highly recommended by our SEM and owner of Nestldown where we got married. Dan is very easy to do business with. He listened to everything that we were trying to accomplish for our big day. He also gave us great suggestions aside from having a wide array of songs that they can perform. If they do not know a particular song that you want, they will learn it for you. Pop Fiction is so incredibly talented, and their energy was such a huge addition to our wedding!! They can sing in Spanish, and were able to learn 2 songs specifically for us, which was a incredible perk for us! They honestly brought down the house, and everyone kept telling me how amazing our wedding band was! Dan also was incredible with helping us throughout the night, from managing the music for the ceremony to MC-ing our dinner toasts and the events throughout the night. There were a few less-than-perfect moments leading up to the wedding that I want to notify anyone of if they are thinking of booking Pop Fiction: 1. They asked us to sign a contract for a 4 hour performance even though it was only 2 2. They had a few hidden fees and rules for band accommodations that we found out from our venue and not from the band. One required an additional charge, and the other changed something that was pretty important to my fiance. 3. They forgot to learn our first dance song until a few weeks before. The execution at the end of the day was truly wonderful, but the lead-up was pretty stressful. 4. The set-list that they gave us beforehand ended up being too long, which meant that they cut some songs from our set on the fly that were really important to our families. All in all, the band is truly wonderful and incredibly talented. These negatives almost pale in comparison to the show that they gave at the end of the day. People LOVED it. But interacting with the band before the wedding ended up being a bit more difficult than I would have liked. read more

I really wanted to give Pop Fiction 5 stars, but there was a BIG mishap that happened during our ceremony. We had Dan do the AV and he assured me things would go smoothly. Well, the mic malfunctioned so our guest didn't hear half my vows and THEN there was horrible feedback once our vocalist started to sing. Dan said this has never happened before and was very apologetic. Still, we just got our video and it was a disruption that could not be edited out - very disappointing. BUT, as a wedding cover band they were AWESOME! All the guest couldn't believe the range of songs they performed. They kept the energy going. We were so pleased with how perfectly they played our first dance song "Lucky in Love" - it was spot on. I would hire them in a minute again, I just wouldn't take the chance to have them work the ceremony. Everyone said how unfortunate it was since our ceremony would have otherwise been lovely. The BEST cover band EVER!! Pop Fiction played at our 150 guest wedding at the Harvest Inn in St. Helena (Napa) and totally rocked the house! Not only did they provide 3.5 hours of great music, but they also were accommodating to learn a mix of two songs for our first dance. Went to an anniversary party last week and was impressed with the band they hired. Pop Fiction had everyone on the dance floor from my 23 month old to the old aunties and uncles -- everyone was gettin' their groove on! I am really picky with music and it really sets the tone for what kind of time I will have. They had my friends and I dancing to EVERYTHING... Pop, rock, 80's, current, etc! My 8 and 5 year olds were dancing until the very end of the party and even wanted their autographs (which were gladly given!). Hubby is only really into hip hop and R&B but even HE said they were EXCELLENT! We had a GREAT time. Pop Fiction just played my wedding on Saturday and I cannot say enough good things about them. First, as bride planning a wedding from a different state, they were extremely responsive and easy to work with which is a huge plus. And then on the day of they absolutely KILLED IT! Our first dance was Ray LaMontagne's "Your are the Best Thing." I was worried about a cover version because I love his voice but they really pulled it off and I couldn't have been happier. They kept my guests dancing all night long, completely stuck to my requests as far as "must plays" and "do not plays" and in short, MADE MY WEDDING RECEPTION! So, we did our research, as there are many great options in SF, and went with Pop Fiction based on their great reviews, experience and reputation. That said, Pop Fiction totally brought down the house at our private event. They have an incredible play list that will please all generations. We selected hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and today, and everyone, from our friends to our parents to our grandparents, loved them! Weddings are family events, and you have to have music that everyone will recognize and enjoy. Pop Fiction is high energy and they sound great. It was awesome dancing our first dance to a live band. It doesn't get better than that!
