They went indoors once the weather was too hot but apparently it was kind of dark and everything was covered in plastic for some reason. My kid did love the water play they had one day and that was the highlight. Operations: kids are required to be escorted to the bathroom in groups and when they ask to go outside of those designated times, there was a bit of pushback- either in the form of requiring to find additional students to go to the bathroom with or simply saying no, and they'd have to wait. Upon inquiry, we were told because of an incident where kids were misbehaving in the bathroom in a previous week, they instituted this rule. In a camp with hundreds of kids and only so many teachers this seems ridiculous. Teachers: teachers were sometimes on their phones and there was lots yelling at the kids (sometimes one kid would misbehave and the entire group would get yelled at). I understand it's hard to wrangle kids' attention but my kid said it was uncomfortable and she felt she was getting in trouble for things she didn't do. Some of the teachers you could tell didn't want to be there. Someone mentioned they were mostly first time instructors/staff. My child liked most summer camps this year but really disliked this one. I did speak with the director and to be fair she was very nice and willing to listen but nothing was quite what was advertised from the website or what the director said. And it's not cheap!! Would not recommend unless things drastically change.

The video lessons are short and easily understood, while the practice exercises work great on a smart board or a projector. There are four levels of instruction: Pawn, Knight, Bishop and Rook. This allowed our kids to be separated into two separate groups and be challenged at the level that was most appropriate for them. The online portal also allows kids to play against the computer and one another online. Chess4Life not only offers a great program, they also give back to the community and care about the kids. Their presence is felt in many of the chess tournaments throughout the state and they run and volunteer at many of the chess events. I am glad to have selected Chess4Life and will recommend that both clubs continue to use them for future curriculum. Thank you!

Away from their usual routines and screens, campers learn to make decisions for themselves--whether it's choosing a new activity to try, solving small challenges, or managing their time during the day. That sense of ownership builds confidence and resilience. Camp Seymour also does a great job of encouraging goal setting. Each camper is guided to set personal goals--big or small--and work toward achieving them. It might be something like trying the climbing wall for the first time or learning how to paddle a canoe. These goals help kids feel accomplished and proud of what they can do, especially when they step out of their comfort zones and succeed. The camp's values of community, respect, and personal growth really shine through in everything they do. It's a place where kids can be themselves, try new things, and build skills that stick with them long after camp is over. We're already looking forward to next summer!

She was excited when we signed up, but a little apprehensive when I dropped her off. I was nervous that she was a bit too young, but this was definitely not the case. She came home wanting to go right back, already talking about next summer, and how she wants to work with her when she is older. That turned out not to be true: the horse was being leased to another person at the same time throughout my lease, which I found misleading and which caused ongoing scheduling conflicts for me. I also prepaid for two lessons before my lease officially started. When my lease ended up beginning earlier than planned and those lessons were absorbed into the lease fee, I was told I'd be refunded for the prepaid ones. That refund never came. From what I observed during my time there, the horses were kept mostly in stalls with very limited turnout. There's a substantial body of research on the physical and mental effects of limited turnout. This includes hoof issues, joint issues, GI issues, elevated ulcer risk, behavioral problems, and respiratory issues, among others. If that matters to you, it's worth knowing before you commit. After I posted an honest review of my experience, the owners publicly commented that there was "pending litigation" against me. This claim surfaced only after I posted the review, which was more than a year after my lease had ended. I took the review down shortly afterwards, since at the time I figured it wasn't worth the hassle and drama given how busy I am. I later learned they had in fact filed a small claims case against me over an alleged $500 shortly after their comment, which I believe was directly in response to my review. I'm posting a review now because I believe potential customers deserve accurate information, and because I believe my experience reflects a pattern others may have run into as well. I was only actually riding here for about a month and a half. More than a year later, I'm still dealing with the fallout of that short arrangement. In my opinion, this says something on its own.

They went live on camp registration and I had an issue that resulted in me having two additional weeks for my kids than needed. I have literally been trying to cancel those extra weeks since 2 minutes after pressing the button. How does a company go live on registration without any live person monitoring the potential issues? My kid did summer robotics camp, 2026. It was a two week program, and there were many problems…read more 1. The pieces for the robots were not easy to find. The kids had to go dumpster diving for the pieces. Kids were not allowed to find their own workarounds for the missing pieces. I understand that there are strict standards to the robots being built but in that case, it's the responsibility of the program to make the pieces easily available, and NOT to have kids waste time hunting around for pieces. 2. We were told the kids would do coding on Day 3 of the program. However, it turned out they didn't code until Thursday of the second week (day 9 of 10!). I'm sure this is a strong robotics program based on all the reviews we've seen. However, for the summer program, it just didn't look like they were focusing or trying to solve the issues. We brought the problems up to the manager a couple of times, but the issues weren't resolved, still. For the price that was paid, I expected more, even for a summer camp.
