I have had nothing but bad experiences with the Popeyes in Bastrop and had not been there in quite a while. But my grandson wanted me to bring Popeyes for "lunch with grandparents" at his school today. I decided a mobile order was the best way to go and I even allowed extra time before I picked it up and when I got there, they had no idea what I was talking about. They eventually found my order and apparently hurriedly threw it together because when I got to the school I cannot believe how much of my order was missing. I ordered my grandson a kids meal and he got one chicken tender and the applesauce. His drink box and the toy were missing. I ordered two cherry cheese pies and got two apple pies, which neither of us like. None of the sauces were included and the red beans and rice tasted like it had been sitting there for a couple of days. I will say the chicken was good, but one good item is not good enough to make me go back. The worst part was that the staff was just indifferent about the whole thing. There's something about craving fried chicken while on a road trip. And it's not the best fast food to get either but this is what happened today lol Hubs saw there's a $1.49 leg and thigh deal and went a bit biserk and ordered way too much food for our trip to Houston lol. First few bites were amazing. Typical Popeyes fashion, spicy, well crisp, seasoned well. It was good while it lasted and then it hits. Too greasy and gets greasier as it gets colder. To make matters worse we found a small black curly hair in the mix of the chicken and none of us has short black curly hair. Usually that's a big yuck n no no but I will be fair in saying it is a fast food joint so I don't expect perfection. But it did take my notice and maybe that is why we had so much leftovers :/ We got a big tub of Cajun fries too. That was good. So, my sister loves Popeyes. I'm not a fan of fried chicken, but I was in a time crunch yesterday, so I ran through. I gave the young lady a $5 for a bill of $4.32 and then spent several minutes arguing that she owes me a dollar and not 68 cents, as the register said Fast forward to today. I came thru the drive thru for my sister and ordered 2 pc white meat. I didn't check it. My mistake. We have had this problem MULTIPLE times at this restaurant. I got home and it was call dark. I tried to call for 10 minutes or more and nobody answered. So I ordered on the website explaining what happened and not to charge us for the correct order. Well, good news: I only got charged for delivery and tip. Bad news: they sent a breast and LEG. If you don't know, a leg is dark meat. At least my sister got one piece of chicken she's wiilling to eat. The rest is very expensive dog food. I don't know if it is bad training or just lack of attention, but CHECK YOUR ORDER before you pay them. And don't confuse the cashier by giving her exact change with a different dollar amount. We eat at this Popeyes pretty regularly and I was reading some of the other reviews. It definitely a weird place as Ive mentioned on my other reviews of it and I see other reviews say the same. It seems to close randomly. One of the workers told me once that they will close down when they run out of chicken and have to cook more. Sometimes the lighted sign out front is turned off, I guess to discourage folks from stopping. They dont answer the phone so no sense in calling. There is a regular switch out of employees it seems like every few months. I dont think people work here for too long. Sometimes the crew works well together and other times they seem pretty brain dead and totally mess up the order or just flat out lie about what they put in your bag. Depends on the worker. Weve met some really nice workers here as well that always got things right. I think its about taking pride in and appreciating having a job. ALWAYS check your order BEFORE leaving the drive through window. Dont let them hassle you about moving up in line. Take the time you need to look at and touch everything to see if its hot. Many times we've had to drive back over there to get something they forgot, or because it was cold or burnt. Test your drinks too. The soft drinks are often too carbonated or too syrupy. Dont hesitate to ask them to redo your order if its not right. Other times, like tonight, everything was ok. read more

Have you ever been to a Popeyes Restaurant and had good customer service? Neither have I until now. I was on my way home back to Houston, TX from Austin and decided I deserved a greasy meal after finishing an Ironman Triathlon the day before. I walk in and was greeted immediately. I went ahead and placed an order of their 5pc Spicy Chicken Tenders with Gravy. The food came out very quickly, I immediately noticed that there were only 3pc Chicken Tenders. I started to look for my receipt to verify that I had been charged for the 5pcs of tenders, it turned out that I was not. It's fine, I wasn't bothered by it and asked if I could be charged for 2 additional tenders. The manager on duty went ahead and gave me the 2 other tenders and apologized for the misunderstanding. If it were any other Popeyes they would have gladly taken my money. I finally sat down and digged into my meal. I opened up my container of gravy and found white cream gravy. Never have I seen cream gravy at Popeyes before and never have they suggested it as an option. I was expecting their delicious Cajun Spicy Gravy. I tasted it and it was okay but the tenders really pair much better with the Cajun Gravy. Instead of saying anything about the White Gravy, I went to the cashier and asked her to charge me for a side of their Cajun Gravy. She then went to the back and filled up a small container of it and told me it's all good, no charge. That was awesome. Every single time I have visited a Popeyes in Houston they have always charged me extra for the gravy. I always thought that was stupid and didn't understand why. I love their spicy chicken - it's my favorite! The tenders particularly are perfect. The mashed potatoes with that cajun gravy, those red beans and rice ... how do they get it that creamy?! ... the biscuits with the honey ... mmmm - those are a dessert on their own! This location is convenient. It is right off of 71 in Bastrop across from Bucee's. I suggest skip going to Buccee's and just stop here. This is a newer Popeye's location.
