Came for dinner and it was just ok. There were lots of flies inside and dead ones in the window. Not what you want to look at while eating. The burger for some reason tasted like it was a frozen patty and was thin. My son enjoyed his kids burger so that's a plus! We also got the bacon wrapped jalapenos. Some had bacon around them and others had bacon beside them. They were actually pretty good and large jalapenos. Our server was very nice and attentive. If we happen to be in the area we may be back.

Always delicious! A little hole in the wall, bit great food and service.. have been several times traveling through Bastrop. Today was extraordinary! We neither one could eat it all and got to go boxes for 1/2 of it'

My friend insisted we go here for lunch because he was raving about "the best burger in town." I immediately hit him with, "But I'm a vegetarian!" Lol. Pulling up to Roadhouse felt like I was about to film a low-budget country music video. The aggressively unpretentious energy was immaculate. The all-dirt parking lot said everything! No curated patio, no aesthetic succulents just straight up vibes and dust. The place was packed at 1 p.m. Our server, Raven, took great care of us from the jump. Rave was very efficient, friendly, and had zero attitude. We ordered a basket of fries, a portobello mushroom burger for me, a cheeseburger, a Philly cheesesteak, upgraded side salads, and, of course, their famous carrot cake to share. Now, let me confess something: As a Californian, I walked in with absolutely zero expectations given the facade. And yet... the fries were perfect. The portobello burger was juicy, well-seasoned, and very satisfying! My friends inhaled their cheeseburger and Philly like they were participating in a competitive sport. Lol. And don't even get me started with their carrot cake. It was disrespectfully delicious! This was seriously the most humbling "don't judge a book by its cover" moment I've had in a while. Roadhouse doesn't need any curated lighting or a reclaimed-wood Instagram wall because the food and service speak for themselves. I drove into a dirt lot with skepticism and left faceplanted by my own bias. Consider me corrected, Bastrop!

I had the chili cheeseburger on the sweet sourdough bun, and it did not disappoint! Tasted like my daddy had grilled it on the grill on the back porch and brought it in for me fresh to eat. Sweet potato fries were crispy and hot, and we got a piece of carrot cake to go. Carrot cake was not the three layer that you may be used to, it's a flat carrot cake made in a sheet pan, but it was still good! We also got the avocado BLT. Also delicious and recommended. Fresh lemonade, not too sweet, just right. Don't let this pass you by! Next time I'm going to try the jalapeño cream cheeseburger, it's number 38 on Texas's Top 50 best burgers. Also, service was great and the ambience was like a small Texas town, friendly, and makes you wanna come back make sure you wanna come back.

Sunday road trip from Houston to Roadhouse for my favorite black bean burger, worth the drive! Great service!

Hadn't been to Roadhouse in a while and decided to stop by on a Sunday for lunch. Got there around 11:30, before it got too busy luckily. Since they have expanded and use the space next door there is now much more inside seating. Burgers are still 10/10- always flavorful, juicy and cooked just right. The sourdough bun is what makes it I always get the sweet potato fries because they are crispy and perfectly salted and worth the extra $1.50 upcharge. Staff are friendly and service was quick, especially for the day/hour. I'll be adding Roadhouse back into my Bastrop restaurant rotations.

There's a lot of buzz about this spot--and after finally checking it out, I can confidently say the hype is real. The menu is packed with incredible options, from comfort food favorites to creative dishes you don't always see in a small-town restaurant. The service was just as impressive--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. If you're passing through Bastrop, this place is definitely worth the stop.

The good and the not so great. Burgers are an A+ every time. Nice grilled flavor and usually perfectly cooked. The service is super friendly but anything but quick. I have been here twice and waited over an hour for food both times. If you are not in a hurry and want a "leisurely" lunch then this is your spot. It is rustic and quirky and I love that. Very much a Texas vibe. This would be a four 1/2 star for me if the food came out in a more timely manner.

Roadhouse was suggested as a lunch option while out and around. Roadhouse was voted as having one of the best burgers in Texas. I decided to go basic and get their bacon cheeseburger. The burger was good-the fries were crispy well done. I went back for lunch with a former co-worker and decided to get the the best burger: their jalapeno cream cheese burger. I chose to get the grilled jalapenos and it was a good mix with the slab of cream cheese and a giant pile of fries. Both times, the burger patty was large, well-seasoned and tasty. I could see why it was voted one of the best burgers. Every visit, service has been friendly and quick. My second visit I got a lot of refills. A LOT. Each time my server asked if I wanted a refill and at the end when I tabulated how many glasses of Coke I had (6) passed 0 judgement and even gave me a to-go cup. This is the other go-to whenever I come to Bastrop, the first being Buc-ee's of course.

I loved the whole experience. It's such a cute space and has that elevated feel without feeling overly fancy or uncomfortable. We started with the grilled focaccia and Watermelon on Fire, and both were excellent. The watermelon was one of those dishes that sounds a little questionable on paper but completely works once you taste it. Sweet, savory, a little spicy and really fresh. We also had the Texas quail, which was beautifully cooked and full of flavor. I had the blackberry bourbon cocktail and loved that too. What really stood out during dinner though was how personable the service was. We never felt rushed and our server actually engaged with us, which made an already good dinner feel even better. I went back this past Saturday for brunch with my sister, her husband and my fiancé. It was definitely a livelier experience with more people around, but still a really nice atmosphere for a Saturday brunch. The service was good and everything came out as expected, although it didn't have quite the same personal touch that I experienced during my first visit. Between the four of us we got to try quite a bit. The shrimp and grits were rich, buttery and seasoned really well. The smoky pork tostada was packed with flavor and the potatoes on the side were honestly some of my favorite bites on the table. The French toast and fried chicken was as good as it looked, with crispy chicken, fruit and just enough sweetness. The only thing I wasn't completely sold on was the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was brown, which threw me off because that's not what I normally expect from sausage gravy, and the biscuits were a little too dense for my preference. The flavor wasn't bad at all, it just wouldn't be my first choice the next time I go. Other than that, Store House has been a hit for me on both visits. The food feels thoughtful without trying too hard, the plates are beautiful, and the restaurant works just as well for a dinner with your sister as it does for brunch with a group. I'll definitely be back.

Cute and good …read more.. Service and atmosphere: Friendly and helpful staff members. The restaurant is quiet, quaint and well decorated. They have small bar area too. Food and drinks: Good selection in both areas. The food we ordered arrived well plated. The food tasted good, was seasoned and flavourful. The side of grits was especially tasty. The restaurant also makes its own version of ranch dressing and ketchup. It was super tasty. We didn't try any cocktails but they looked good. Pricing: $$/$ - worth the experience.

There are restaurants you try once because they're trendy... and then there are places like Paw-Paw's -- the kind that become part of your family's story over time. From the fried deviled eggs, to the seafood platters, to the chicken tenders, to the genuinely wonderful staff, there just isn't a better spot for this kind of old-school comfort food experience. And the staff? Always SO friendly and welcoming. Every single time we come in, it feels less like "customer service" and more like old friends excited you finally stopped by so they can catch up with you awhile. That kind of warmth cannot be faked, and it makes such a difference. Now let's discuss these fried deviled eggs. Because respectfully... who allowed them to be this good? You think deviled eggs have reached their final form and then Paw-Paw's comes in like, "Hold my beer." Crispy, crunchy, creamy, flavorful perfection. We start most meals with them because not ordering them would simply be poor decision making at this point. I usually get the chicken tender basket and LISTEN -- these aren't sad little freezer tenders pretending to be a meal. These tenders are literally as big as my hand. Juicy, tender, flavorful, cooked perfectly every time. My adult kids are obsessed with the seafood platter: three pieces of fried catfish and three jumbo fried shrimp with fries, pinto beans, slaw, hushpuppies, and homemade tartar or cocktail sauce. And when I say the catfish tastes CLEAN, my fellow seafood people will understand exactly what I mean. No muddy taste, no weirdness -- just fresh, crispy, perfectly fried fish done right. And the portions? Paw-Paw did NOT come to play. Nobody is leaving hungry unless that was a personal choice. What I love most, though, is the feeling of the place. The small-town care. The heart that clearly goes into the food. The old-school comfort vibe that feels increasingly rare these days. Places like this matter. And Paw-Paw's is absolutely one of them.
