Our first time at Popeyes.... and 1000000% our last. Ordered an 8 pack of chicken (via drive thru), 1/2 white 1/2 dark. Arrived home to find the 8 pack was now all dark 6 pack (3 thighs and 3 legs). No white meat, missing pieces of chicken, and the chicken was saturated in grease. We paid a fortune for garbage. Never again. read more

Growing up in Toronto, I have eaten my fair share of Popeye's Chicken. I left Toronto many moons ago, and of course Popeye's more or else "just arrived" in Ottawa, so it had been a long time since I had some Popeye's Chicken. I was sad to see that "dirty rice" (rice mixed with ground beef and spices) has been removed from the menu (although I've been told this change happened many years ago) and replaced with "rice and beans." Nonetheless, I still enjoyed the food. I ordered the 16 pieces fried chicken family combo for takeout ($45.99). The combo comes with 3 large sides and 8 biscuits. However, I had a coupon for an additional free side, so I got 4 sides in total. For my sides I got onion rings, Cajun fries, macaroni & cheese, and rice & beans. I asked for half-spicy and half-mild, so 8 pieces of each. I specifically asked for at least 2 mild drumsticks because my little niece loves drumsticks and she cannot eat spicy food. Well, when I got to my brother's place with the food, I discovered that I got zero mild drumsticks. All the mild pieces were thighs and breasts, and all the spicy pieces were drumsticks and wings. I really think that the default should be an even distribution of types of pieces when you order half-half, and if a customer makes a specific request, if you are able to honour it, you should (and if you are not, then let the customer know at the time of ordering. When I ordered, the cashier said "no problem."). I did like that they separated the spicy and mild pieces with some waxed paper. The spicy pieces have more of a reddish tinge than the mild pieces. All this being said, the chicken was really good. It was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. I was just as I remembered it from my youth. The onion rings were huge with a lot of batter. They are whole onion rings, thickly sliced (not re-formed onion like onion rings at Burger King - or as I like to call the onion rings at Burger King: the Pringles of onion rings, lol). The batter was spiced and had the tiniest little bit of a kick. The batter was too thick for my tastes, but the onion rings were overall good. The Cajun fries were lightly battered with Cajun seasoning. They were thin shoestring fries - my favourite cut. I loved them. The mac & cheese was ok. It was really cheesy and wet. Tasted like processed cheese to me - like the cheese that you get out of a pump for nachos at movie theatres and 7-Elevens. The rice and beans were also ok. They put the beans at the bottom and then the rice on top. I found the bean sauce a little too runny. I would have liked it if the sauce was thickened a bit more. The rice was good. It was nice and fluffy, although a little too salty for my liking. I'm not a huge biscuit fan, so I didn't have any. Service was nice and polite. I even had someone (I think it was the manager, as she was dressed differently from everyone else, but I'm not sure) ask me what my order number was when she noticed that I had been waiting for quite sometime. My order was larger than most, so I completely understand that people who came after me got their food before me. The restaurant is really new, so it's clean. It's where the Arby's used to be (so sad that there's only 1 Arby's left in Ottawa now, but I digress...) and next to Menchie's. There's free parking in the lot attached, but the lot is not huge. It's hard to access if you are going eastbound on Innes (I had to overshoot and then make a u-turn), so better to approach it going westbound. The U.S. spoils you. You expect fast food to be just that, "fast food". I have been to this place twice now and I'm still waiting for fast food. Three cars in front of me means half an hour of waiting, ten minutes per car on average. I'm done with this place. After waiting for 30 minutes, I get to the window and they tell me that they are out of spicy chicken, f**k me! I'm done. If you're from the States and you're expecting U.S. service then then don't come here. Plus they don't have staples like jalapenos. This is not a fast food place, be prepared to wait! read more

This is the best chicken place seriously, It has great crispy chicken with so decent fries. when I go to Popeyes its not like I have to because its cheap I go there because I'm exited to have some good chicken. Honestly its great flavored chicken. But do not have the poutine or the gravy its pretty bad I find it to be a little over seasoned to be honest. but besides that its excellent for a quick great bite. the chicken burger is also really great its different then the normal chicken I find it to be more fried, but that is not a bad thing the chicken burgers chicken is excellent. So overall Popeyes is a great place to eat!! read more

Chicken was crispy and juicy, and affordable for what you get. On the other hand, clientele experience was not so great. They forgot to do my order and yanked the receipt out of my hand. I understand you might just be trying to do your job but general courtesy is the bare minimum you could give in clientele service, therefore would not be comfortable coming back, chicken was great though. read more

Had a convo with the youth mandem at the cash and he himself told me that the food was garbage although i disagree. The manager at this location can be a bit of a jerk but he's in his mid 40s and works at a fast food place so i cant judge him only god can. Good food though. Montreal location better tho. read more

Love me some Popeyes spicy tenders. This could be my ultimate dirty pleasure. It's a large amount of food for a small amount of money. I get the 5 piece with fries combo. I've realized after trying most of the sides that if it isn't deep fried at Popeyes you probably shouldn't eat it. Except for that biscuit. It took a few times before it grew on me I will admit. Hit the drive thru. Girl at window was very rude and snappy. I got a Cajun chicken sandwich combo. Sandwich was blank and soggy. Living in Orleans my entire life , I know majority of ppl don't go back to places that have rude service and sloppy food. read more

This has to be the worse Popeye restaurant as they are so unorganized. They care more about the take out orders than their clients inside the store. All 3 employees were occupied with take out orders and waited a long time before someone took my order. Had to wait 20 minutes for new bath of non spicy chicken. Will never go there again. read more

Chicken strips (mild) and Cajun fries The cashier was lovely, smiled , engaged, helpful. The chicken was going to be 5 minutes as they cooked it fresh- SOUNDS GOOD The fries were good but weren't totally fresh - had been sitting a few minutes before they got to me. Chicken was good , batter is a nice light medium crunchy flakey batter. I observed one ( manager ?) and another staff cleaning the restaurant thoroughly : the walls the chairs the chair rail. Popeyes has arrived in Orleans! Taking over the old Arby's location, they have prepared themselves for the popularity of their food (as seen by the other locations in Ottawa). Came in at the lunch hour rush on a Tuesday. The parking lot was already packed (there were a couple of spots in the back still), drive-through was 3 or 4 cars deep and it looked like maybe 30 people were already eating at the tables. But plenty of chicken was ready for boxing. I got a 12 piece (spicy) with sides. The fries, biscuits and chicken were ready to go but the rice and beans took an extra minute. Looked like they had plenty of small sides ready but not the large ones. A short wait though. The chicken was okay. The spicing seemed a bit uneven, with definitely hot/spicy bites and some that lacked that punch. The rice and beans were probably prepared in a bit of a rush; I think it was 50% rice, 50% beans, ending up with a bit of a red bean congee (though not that kind of red bean). Enjoyable, but I would preferred a bit more rice. Overall, I was impressed with the service (staff were polite, food was quickly assembled) and the food was fine. I'll definitely try it again to see if my minor quibbles have been fixed though; I assume there's always a few things that need fixing when a restaurant first opens. read more

Left all the promos up from previous month (it's the 9th) so everyone in line wanted ghost pepper that they no longer sell. The menu TV is broken and nausea inducing. I was overcharged. This location is not one i would recommend. It took 20 minutes from when i ordered til i got my food. This location is slow as molasses. The cashiers and the drive thru person seemed to be doing stuff but a couple of staff were just standing around at times watching the cops go by. It wasn't even worth the wait. The chicken was greasy and pink. The fries were average as was my son's chicken deluxe sandwich. My nieces nuggets were the only decent item but still nothing to write home about. Don't get what the fuss is all about. It's something other than KFC for sure, but just like the Arby's that was in this location before hand it's not very good. Chicken is too greasy, takes too long to get an order, and the staff spend more time yammering on to each other then helping customers. The gravy has bits floating in it. Stick to KFC. read more

Such a large menu of option but it seems like they only have 50% of what they actually advertise. Want mild chicken? Nope only spicy. Want a sandwich? Nope, but they can make it with chicken fingers instead. Wut??? Popcorn chicken and butterfly shrimp might aswell be a myth. They didn't even have large cups so they handed me a medium AND a small cup instead of allowing a free refill. Pop machine is warm and never has ice. If you ask for something that they 'dont have' they seem to have the most soul crushing, condescending tone to go with it. Also, wait time is absurd. Food is not bad but pretty much the worst fast food service in the city. Sat in the drive through for almost 10 mins with no response. Drove up to window and still no response. Only once I parked and went into the restaurant did I notice one of the staff look out the window. Several times I have gone to this location and they are out of food items or beverages. I have now given up on the place and will not return. Expect to see it out of business soon. read more

I have been to this location 10-15 times since it has opened, and despite some long wait times during busy hours, the service and food was very pleasing. When I go in the restaurant I am usually greeted politely and the girls in the front are all so friendly and helpful with my questions. I usually order a 3pc combo for myself and a children's nugget combo for my niece and we eat in the lobby, which is usually pretty busy! I have been through drive through drive through twice, and although my first experience wasn't great due to a mess up in my order, the second time I went I was thoroughly impressed with the two sweet girls Skylar and Emma. I was informed of the short wait, given tons of options for sauce and had a pleasant conversation while I was waiting. The female manager who I have seen many times is also very helpful with questions or any mess ups and even offered me a large side order since there was a long wait for the small sides. happy customer read more

March 17th. I ordered the Tacklebox dinner with a side of onion rings with two chicken legs. The order taker did NOT make eye contact, smile or act in the least bit interested in filling my order. We were the only ones there for a take out. There were mostly males in the kitchen area having a good time? My order taker had said there was a 3-minute wait for the butterfly shrimp which turned into a 16-minute wait. I had to remind staff of my drink which was forgotten. Once home, I discovered that the chicken was overcooked, the rings were overcooked and the butterfly shrimp were the leftovers (5) with a handful of rock-hard popcorn shrimp. The biscuit was tasty!!!! I know that this is not the Waldorf and I am a big fan of take out but this was RIDICULOUS! I believe that I paid $12.40 for an infomercial on how NOT to run a fast food take out business. I have relayed this information to Popeyes office and I don't expect that this review will be posted on this site. I would have, like most, just kept quiet and "let it go" if it had been just one issue but I feel that I bought the most expensive biscuit in Orleans. read more
