    2 pieces thigh combo $7.95.
    Jennifer P.

My husband and I had lunch here recently and we loved the fried chicken here! I had the 3 piece chicken tenders combo which was $6.99 and came with fries, a can of pop and a dipping sauce. My husband got the 2 piece fried chicken (thighs) combo ($7.95). The chicken here is so crispy. I don't know how they do it, but the breading is excellent. It's well seasoned and not too salty, and oh so crispy but not too greasy. The breading is not smooth, it's kind of flaky. It's really difficult to explain, but it's delicious. The meat itself is moist and tender. The chicken tenders are real breast meat, not re-formed meat like chicken nuggets. The fries are regular-cut fries and also very crispy. For my dipping sauce I asked them if they had sweet and sour sauce and they said that they did, but when my order came out my sauce looked like mayo. I asked if my sauce was wrong and they said it was sweet and sour. I said that I thought it would look more like a plum sauce and not mayo-based. The guy working there asked me if I wanted a different sauce instead and I said yes, I'd like BBQ instead. He gave me BBQ sauce and told me to keep the sweet and sour sauce and try it. I thought that that was a nice thing to do. He was really nice and easy-going about it too, which I appreciated. The sweet and sour sauce was weird in my opinion. It tasted like a mayo-based honey garlic sauce. I didn't like it. I much preferred the BBQ sauce, which tasted like regular BBQ sauce. My husband got the honey mustard sauce which tasted similar to McDonald's honey mustard sauce. For soda pops they had Fanta. How cool is that? I got the Grape Fanta :) Crispy's is a fast food place. You order at the counter, pay, and then pick up your order when it's done. It takes about 10-15 minutes. The staff there are very nice. The restaurant including the washrooms are very clean. This is my new favourite place for fast food fried chicken. The price here is awesome too. It's where the Quizno's used to be at the corner of Meadowlands and Woodroffe. It's in a tiny strip mall with Wind Mobile, Puffalot, Mr Mozzarella and The New Hong Kong Chinese Food. There's a small parking lot with free parking.

I had grown weary of relying on chains for good fried chicken. I mean, I love Popeye's so much, but it's so far from where I live. Not that this is food you eat all the time, but ya gotta keep your options open! My boyfriend and I had dinner at Crispy's tonight and we were both really impressed. Their fried chicken has a unique seasoning that is slightly spicy, and - AND - it's BONELESS! GET FATTER FASTER! So basically you pay for however much chicken you want, and you can make it a combo for $3 (fries, pop, dipping sauce). Also, the fries were delicious and crispy! I hate fries that are too potatoey, so these were right on the money. Friendly service, good prices, good variety. My only complaints are there is no condiments bar, and pop is bottled and canned only, but other than that we had a great experience and we will certainly be back.

I went back and had their chicken burger, and it was really good. The chicken was well cooked and seasoned and the portion size was actually huge! My husband ordered the philly cheese steak again and it was just as tasty as the first time he had it. The TV was on this time around so the ambiance was better, and all the staff were friendly and were wearing their shirts with the store logo (which wasn't the case the first time we went). My biggest issue the first time (3 stars) was the customer service being non-existent, but that has definitely changed. Five stars for really good halal fried chicken in the city! Editing the review 11/4/2015: This restaurant is under new management! My husband and I decided to try this restaurant after hearing a few good things about it. We have been looking for some decent fried halal chicken in Ottawa for a while, but no such luck. Sadly, the search did not end here. The restaurant is new, the decor is really nice and the washrooms are clean. There were two men at the counter dressed in casual clothing (one was sitting at a laptop) so I wasn't sure if they were working there or not. There were only 3 other tables occupied by other customers and it was about 2 hours before closing. We took a look at the menu (it's quite large) and I decided to go with fried "chicken chunks" which are essentially pieces of chicken that are breaded and deep fried. Not a nugget, and not a chicken strip - in between! I went for the chicken only and my husband ordered a philly cheese steak meal.. He got a side of fries and a drink. This brought our order to $25. Our order took far to long to come (20 mins). The plus side, it was a very fresh order - everything was piping hot so I had to wait to dig into my chicken. The chicken was tender, but not as much as I would have liked for a good fried chicken and it was not as juicy either. The seasoning was very bland because I couldn't taste a thing, even though it looked well seasoned. While it was a good meal because I was starving - I would not order it again and go for something else on the menu. My husbands sandwhich was really good, the meat was well seasoned and it was cheesy! However it did have lettuce and tomatoes, which are not common ingredients in a philly cheese steak - but it was a good sandwhich overall and he would order it again.

I do frequent Moxies in other parts of the city frequently so the menu can get a tad tiring as its stayed pretty consistant over the last couple of years with some minor changes. I decided to try the beet salad which was new to the menu. It was large and it was topped with SO SO SOOOOOo many crispy beets, that they were all stained and stuck to my teeth and lips when I went to the restroom. I had no idea. It is not a "date friendly" salad. I also ordered the espresso martini which was $5.00. It was very potent and tasty, but it didn't come with 3 espresso beans on top which is supposed to be for luck. The hubby had the mahi mahi and I tried the mashed potatoes and they were delish. Service was to the point and not overbearing.

I ordered the impossible burger (veg option) and the hubby asked for the spiciest burger on the menu. I forget what was recommended to him, but it had crispy jalapenos, and he said it was very hot, but good. We also ordered two fries on the side. We ended up bringing one home and reheating it later in the oven, and they were still delicious. The fries were very good, but on the saltier side. It also tasted like they were brined in vinegar before cooking? The hubby got the poutine and I did not like the gravy at all. It was a thick dark gravy, and there was no seasoning to it. I do not recommend the poutine. He liked it though. I devoured the impossible burger. It was great. Restaurant is small, and with the two of us and 2 small kids (who decided they didn't want to eat anything), the seating was a bit odd, with mostly tall tables and chairs with no backs. There were lower tables by the main entrance, but it was too cold to sit there with the door constantly opening. Most people were taking their meals to go. I'm glad I tried out Burger Priest finally. The food hit the spot.

I usually get a latte there but decided on a regular one, that was a mistake. Their food did taste good, and their chutney was still delicious but the service was a bit gruff. I could tell he was a bit overwhelmed and probably having an off morning, so I didn't take it personally. The food is delicious but you're definitely overpaying and 50/50 on the coffee lol

All the nearby spots are reserved for the apartment dwellers in the building. Ordered a Huevo Ranchero ($16) - which came with scrambled eggs two corn tortillas with salsa, cheese, sour cream and a side order of fries. The eggs could have used some seasoning even with salsa it needed something extra A Vegan Breakfast Bowl ($14) - a mixture of tofu, spinach, mushrooms and tomato chutney - which somehow tasted to all 4 of us like onion chutney. The vegetables done good, but tofu again had just no flavour. Tofu had a spice rub all over, but it tasted like plain tofu. The Bacun strips were rice paper rolls with some attempted flavours but none came through. And two Vegan Bennies ($16) - a super grainy slice of bread topped with the same tofu, green onions, Bacun and some red pepper strips (NOT Coulis as described in the menu). If some person was having a tofu dish for the first time I think they would describe tofu as no flavour at all. We vegans know that you can do amazing things with Tofu. The home fries in the above dishes was the best - now that we could give 5 out 5. All of us had to go and get Sriracha and Ketchup from the counter to rescue the dishes. Coffee was too weak as well. When you go in and order on the counter and you get food delivered to your table. Should the restaurant still offer to tip on the machine BEFORE even we were served? The order did take a long time, the table not clean when we sat, no condiments on the table and coffee refills slow. An extra star for giving tons of vegan options
