The service could definitely be improved. The only people who deserve any recognition are the cooks in the back. They work so hard and it all gets missed because the front house service is that terrible. The ladies at the registers do not care if you have been standing there for more than five minutes before they acknowledge you and when they do they give the feeling as though you have bothered them. It really is sad because we have been going to this Popeyes for over 10 years but we stopped about 2 months back because of the terrible service. Mobile ordering is a sham here because they will say the order is fulfilled five minutes after placing said order but then you get there you have to wait another 30 minutes. When you do get your food, it is never correct. I have never reviewed another restaurant but I had to for this Popeyes because of how bad their service has gotten. I have been going to this location may times over the past few years and always found this location to be very good compared to many other Popeyes locations. Yesterday was a really sub-par experience though not even worth 2 stars, the chicken was dark colored, which meant the frying oil was well past it's prime, the chicken pieces were not white and fresh which meant the chicken itself was old and so we only ate a couple pieces and felt like we wished we hadn't bothered as well as my dog ignored the chicken when I got home. The price was horrendous $32 for 8 pieces chicken only and the basic 5 barely warm minuscule tenders no sides, drinks or biscuits just the old greasy chicken...... disgusting and definitely the place has changed overnight..... definitely won't bother going back again. read more

I love their coating on the chicken. We also got a free 2 piece chicken box with a biscuit. The back of your receipt if you do the survey you get the 2 piece chicken free when you buy a soda. Love the fact that I never get sick from it unlike KFC that gives me the shits. read more

I am never the first in line for this kind of thing. I would always prefer to wait until the madness dies down. I am happy to report that I waited in a drive through for 5 minutes and wasn't threatened, robbed or stabbed, to get one regular and one spicy chicken sandwich. Yes it is true. I am a pig. I couldn't do a proper review without trying both. If you think I am joking about the violence Google it. I remember where I was when I tried my first Chik-Fil-A. I was in Utah on a trip to Bryce Canyon from Las Vegas. I had seen them before but never went in. On this day I found out why Chik-Fil-A was so popular. The incredible seasoning, the juicy brined chicken. The mayo and a salty pickle. Fluffy bun. I was an instant fan. Darn good lemonade too. I also love the nuggets and the highly addictive Chik-Fil-A sauce. So why would Popeye's try to take them down? Because this is America Jack! I also believe they have accomplished this. I absolutely like the Popeye's Original Chicken sandwich better than the Chik-Fil-A original. I liked the bun better. I liked how crispy the exterior was. I thought they put the perfect amount of mayo on and the seasoning was outstanding. The meat was juicy too. The Popeye's sandwich is also a better bargain because the chicken is more substantial. I thought the spicy sandwich was also excellent and if that is your bag you will be very happy here. I will go with the original in the future. So why the four stars? Because it is Popeyes. The sides are fairly lame. Most are better than the K.F.C. offerings. The sodium content is out of control. I am still waiting on the damage the sandwich will cause. Wait on line for an hour or kill for it? I sure wouldn't. But I do believe this will be the fast food chicken sandwich king very soon if it isn't already. read more

Granddaughter stopped and bought a chicken meal ...chicken , French fries , Mac & cheese with biscuit . Started eating it and within 5 minutes her face started swelling up ....knew immediately it was an allergic reaction to shellfish . Has happened previously so we are well aware of the symptoms / reaction . Called CVS and they recommended giving her Benadryl which we didn't have so went to purchase some at CVS . Soon after taking the Benadryl , swelling started to go down . Apparently , somehow shrimp was introduced to her meal . Whether there was a piece in her order , her French fries or chicken cooked in same oil as shrimp , who knows ??? But definitely there's must've been some kind of cross contamination . Called Popeyes and spoke to manager Khalil who took my number and would refer it to his boss . Waiting for a callback . Employees have to be more careful when preparing the food not to mix shrimp with the other foods they serve . This could've led to an emergency room visit due to her tongue swelling and throat closing up and impeding her breathing . We adverted an emergency because we knew what the cause was but might be a different ending for a child who has an allergy to shellfish and the child and parents don't know it . read more

I was in recently and ordered the chicken tenders meal. I don't usually order regular fried chicken because I don't like dealing with the bones. That being said, I still want their tenders to be crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside... just like bone in chicken. When I ordered, I chose their "spicy" option. It wasn't spicy at all, but it was tasty. It was somewhat fresh and the first tender was actually crispy. By the time I got to the third, though, the magic had gone and they were soggy. I would give them a fourth star if they would offer regular silverware. I don't like my hands to be greasy and I use a fork and knife for stuff like this. Their "spork" is useless. It barely has tines long enough to hold the food. I remember as a kid thinking they were dumb when I used to get them at KFC. Popeyes has them too? Do only fried chicken places use them? read more

Worse Popeyes this side of the solar system. They have items on the menu and tell you they don't have that anymore and when you ask well why is it still on the menu you're met with hostility. I love Popeye's!! I started eating here a few months ago and consider it a real treat for myself when I stop by and pick something up here. There are tables inside to eat at, or you can pick something up at the drive thru. What I love about Popeye's is that you get really nice pieces of chicken with a lot of meat on them. If you want fried chicken, they offer cajun or plain flavored. My personally enjoy getting the chicken strips. They are so meaty, unlike pieces you often get at other fast food establishments. There are plenty of sides to go along with your meals, including cajun fries, cajun rice, mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes, to name a few. Many of their foods are "cajun" to add that Louisiana flair to it. The biscuits that come with the meal I can honestly say are the best I've ever had at a fast food establishment. Meals can be a little pricey depending on what you get, but they do offer a bunch of great cheap deals, sometimes good a certain day of the week. It is definitely worth the price!! read more

I have been a customer of the Schenectady Popeyes for a few years now and have witnessed a steady decline in service and quality. My last 2 visits were very disappointing on both visits I ordered 3 piece dinners and requested and paid for WHITE meat. Neither meat contained any white meat. On my last visit the soda machine was broken yet I paid for a coke! An probably the most disturbing issue involved being harassed by a prostitute actually the same prostitute once at the parking lot entrance and another while I was locked in and using the men's room. The men's room incident consisted of her banging on the door non-stop. And here's the sad ending to my review, I CONTACTED THE CORPERATE OFFICES VIA THEIR REVIEW PROCESS 2 weeks ago and have not received any reply. Something dreadfully wrong with this location. I don't do a lot of chain restaurants... especially when I'm on vacation, but a friend of mines shot me a text this morning, which said "Schenectady has a Popeyes, just sayin." Well he just said it and it was in my head still when I was done at Peebles Island and in search of food. This isn't the first time I've eaten at a Popeyes. This is, however the best one I've eaten at. The chicken was seasoned beautifully and had just enough heat that it made my lips burn lol. They need to have a conversation with the Popeyes chains in Maryland, because they are doing something terribly wrong, just saying. I will keep this as short and to the point as possible. This location is TERRIBLE!!. I have been to the new clifton park location about 10 times, and almost every single time they do not have what I want. Starting with Iced Tea, its on the menu, but they don't even have the machine to serve it. They ( 60% of the time) don't have blackened ranch sauce, which is the only kind I like there, always out of it. On several occasions they have no apple pies, and 3 times I went there they didn't have spicy chicken. All of these things are the reason I went there, thats what I want.... and can't have it. Today they didn't give me my drink, and last time I went I didn't get a spoon to eat my mashed potatoes. This place already has a bad reputation after just being opened, and it doesn't seem like anything is going to change. After so many people shared the same complaints as me, among many others like food quality and they started getting a majority of negative reviews, someone.....(probably the owner) created a second " ghost" location calling it the " halfmoon" Popeyes in hopes of tricking people into thinking they weren't going to the popeyes with all the bad feedback. But there is only one location, clifton park and halfmoon are one in the same. The Troy Popeyes was always so good, I was excited to hear this one was coming to C.P. The workers were friendly. The inside was clean and seemed well maintained. Lots of selection but our chicken strips would take a three more minutes the server said.
