Rice and fish cakes with a half boil egg.

I've got a new go-to place for fried chicken. In my opinion, Korean fried chicken is second to none. According to some online posts, the frying method renders out the fat in the skin. I don't know if that's accurate. I thought the skin was removed. I'll have to ask the staff next time. I do know that it was super crispy and delish. It's served with pickled turnip. BB.Q Chicken is a Korean chain that's branched out internationally. I got the golden fried chicken which is basic, but there are many different flavors including spicy and some that are slightly sweet. I saw one customer review that said now "you can feel famous" eating Korean fried chicken. That's because fried chicken is always featured in K-dramas. The spicy rice cakes with fish cakes are also sometimes featured in the shows. I ordered some. Rice cakes are popular Asian cuisine, but they're a bit heavy and very filling. I couldn't finish the order. It was too large. I liked the staff. They were friendly and helpful. The place was busy even after 2pm. I placed my order online. When I got there I still had a 10 minute wait. It seems a lot of lunch orders were placed around 2pm by customers who appeared to be mostly college or post-college age. The fried chicken was worth the wait. The restaurant is small, clean, cute and modern. There are some tables for those who want to eat-in, but it seems most of the orders were for take out. I can't wait to come back to try some of the spicy fried chicken. I think it was called Gangnam chicken.

I order the coleslaw from bb.q chicken it came spoiled. The container was only 3/8 full and was spoiled. I don't understand how you could accidentally give spoiled coleslaw to your customers.

One of my favorite spots to come eat in central avenue. Whenever I crave some fried chicken, this is the place to go! It's a small store on the side of the road, parking is usually fairly easy to find. It's not usually busy inside as most people order takeout so they grab the food and leave. You walk up to the counter and order your food. They make Korean style fried chicken where they mix different types of Korean sauce with the chicken. But if you just want classic fried chicken with no sauce, they have that option too and sauce or not, it's still really good. I tried the half and half where they give you half classic fried chicken and other half with their secret sauce. Both of them were really good. It was crispy, full of flavor, and juicy. It took about 15 mins to get the food and took us 15 mins to finish everything. They also serve boneless chicken and ramen. I personally didn't try those yet but I might in the future and let everyone knows how those are.

Albany finally got a Korean fried chicken joint!! I've been to BBQ chicken in the Boston area and was excited to see it pop up here. We ordered the soy garlic wings and secret spicy wings as well as fries, coleslaw, and radish. I'm definitely partial to soy garlic no matter where I go and I thought these were delicious and crispy. I didn't really like the secret spicy (not spicy and have a strange aftertaste) but my bf preferred them. Honestly their sides were not the best I've had, but nothing to complain about either. Fries were hot and fresh. Definitely satisfied my craving for Korean fried chicken, fries, and pickled white radishes. We had a small amount of leftovers and they were still good after heating up a bit in the toaster oven the next day. Wish I had an air fryer... I would recommend not ordering on grubhub because the fees are insane. We called to pick up our order and the guy working there was very friendly and our order was waiting for us on time (took about 20 minutes).

Korean fried chicken takeout from a franchise operation that is opening it first outlet outside of NYC. They fry up the bird in a crunchy batter then coat it with one of a variety of sauces. Counter guy told me the secret spicy is closest to what you think of his Korean fried chicken, but it wasn't spicy enough. I would definitely go for the hot secret spicy. They advertise that they use olive oil in frying, which sounds great, but oddly adds a mellow note you don't expect in Korean fried chicken. Still it's pretty good stuff. Portions are priced around $13 for a small size, $23 for a large size. You can get either wings or parts of a whole chicken. The latter is a much better deal. I got I think 10 meaty chunks instead of a few bony extremities. They threw in some pleasant daikon pickle but I think that might be a grand opening special. Ambience is zippo. You just stand around waiting for your order to be ready, which takes takes longer than I think it should due to a bottleneck with the guy saucing the chicken. But overall it's A-OK and I'm adding a star for value.

Albany's newest fried chicken spot is a popular Korean franchise and it is awesome! So many different flavors of fried chicken to choose from and they're all tasty. The best flavors are the Gang Jeong and Secret Spicy. Both are not too spicy and have a bit of a sweet bite. Honey garlic is also excellent. The original wings were good but compared to the other wings with sauce, they seemed like they were missing more flavor. The cheeseling wings were unique and interesting with cheese powder for seasoning. Worth a try but I prefer the other flavors for more depth. The cheese sticks were mozzarella sticks, I thought they were going to be more Korean with some spice. However they were still yummy. Make sure to call ahead!! The wait can be long so calling ahead is a must. Also there is currently a 10% off soft opening discount now.

Honey garlic and Wings of Fire

I really enjoyed this meal. The wings are done when ordering, crispy and very juice. The location is clean and their customer service is perfect, very patient with my friends and I who have never been at this spot. My friend and I got different flavors so we can share . 10/10 would recommend to anyone in the area.

First visit. Tried the golden classic and the soy garlic (M size), plus French fries. Both versions of the chicken were amazing. Fries were crispy but too greasy. Reason for one less star is the long wait. Over 45 minutes between ordering and getting food, and place was not too busy.

This place is pretty good! The chicken was nice and crispy despite the amount of sauce! We got the half and half whole chicken (original and secret spicy) and the medium soy garlic wings. I definitely would get all of them again. :) I ordered pick up which took about 20 mins or so? They are very busy since they just opened so keep that in mind when you place your order. I would definitely come here again for my Korean fried chicken fix!

    Golden original nine piece wings

Went to BBQ Korean yesterday and got the Golden original nine piece wings. It was juicy and flavorful, breading was tasty. Highly recommend! The guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful.

Can I dine-in? It looks like take out only

They have a small number of small tables. No table service. Primarily a take-out place.

What's the pricing like? Nothing on their website, and I want to stay in my budget while enjoying good Korean fried chicken. Anyone know how the sides are?

It's pretty similar to the pricing in NYC? I got the half and half chicken and a medium soy garlic wings and the total was about ~$39. It came with 3 cups of radishes. They have a 10% discount right now for grand opening so the actual total was $35!…

(not too sure) The tofu soup I got was mild-lightly spicy and gosh it was the spiciest soup I've ever gotten and I usually eat this and other spicy foods perfectly fine! Wasn't the best for me. Alternatively the beef soup felt a bit bland but my friend liked it. Main complaint is not much beef in the soup and it tasted very tough. alternatively not much seafood either, just tiny small bits of cheap shrimps which were a bummer. Only good thing was the decent price and decent free side dishes (not many) of which only broccoli tasted good. Food took forever to come so side dishes were a life saver although they also were never refilled which at traditional places they are. Main thing: the service was quite bad... from the moment we walked in, we didn't feel welcome as no one welcomed us, dirty tables were everywhere (like in those video games you play to clean up), and we waited awhile at the counter looking at menus until someone greeted us with an attitude yelling that counter is only for to-go and we should've just sat down if we're dining in... she huffed and sat us down, surrounded by the dirty tables. We asked if we could sit elsewhere but as big as the restaurant was, she still said half of it was closed for dinner (I know other places do the same but they were kind enough to let us sit in that area when requested) and the reason why this time, was because we were literally sitting surrounded by dirty dishes all around us - which they never cleaned up the entire hour we dined here! Very unpleasant view-never have I ever! Even our current table was sticky. And the food and service took forever. She seemed very annoyed when we ordered and whenever we asked for water or refill side dishes and gave attitude like we obviously need to wait for her to appear and be free to even ask which she was rarely seen. I never saw her treat other customers like the same way she treated us, for them, she was very patient and kind and offered menu options and even personal talk. Seems like she doesn't like tourists, just regulars. Anyways she was rarely seen throughout the meal and so I just sucked up the not so good food and we finished and took awhile to get the check. That was the only point in the interaction she seemed to be present in the restaurant. Other times she was nowhere to be seen. When paying, she loudly exclaimed what do you want to tip? In an attitude saying that, we had to tip, and it had to be a sufficient amount otherwise she'd be upset - which she was because service was not good. Even when we left and said bye, she gave us no word back and just another one of those scowled looks. Only one lady working the front and she was barely present and not pleasant. Overall food really isn't bad but it isn't amazing either. If this cuisine is what you're craving go for it, it's fairly priced. I would support a small business. But don't expect a clean restaurant or friendly service - unless youre a regular or fits the server preferred demographic. Not the best experience for me. Whole heartedly believe if service was better this could be a solid place!

I may be part of the Asian club but I'm not a part of this particular inner circle. Being Filipino…read more(or being human, for that matter), I tend to compare and contrast cuisines based on my own experience. With several Asian cuisines, rice seems to be the preferred carb. Korean black rice differs primarily in appearance - purple hue due to the mix of black and white rice. Gimbap (Kimbap) - is often described as Korean sushi. In doing some research, there's a distinct difference between the two. The seasonings used to flavor the steamed rice are salt and sesame oil. They are usually stuffed with cooked protein (beef, pork, tofu, fishcake) and pickled vegetables. They seem to be a larger diameter than maki sushi as well. Good? You betcha. Tonkatsu lunch is a favorite....think German pork schnitzel over black rice. The sauce seems to be Tteokbokki (glutinous rice cake) derived - sweet and slightly spiced. There are usually banchan (side dishes) accompanying the meal: kimchi, cucumber pickle, daikon, and eomuk (fish cake). They provide added contrast to the meal. The service has always been efficient and cordial every time I've picked up my order here.
