Honestly, I am very impressed in this location. I went off the reviews looking in which location was the best in Bakersfield hands-down this is the place to go friendly Staff, quick and efficient reasonable price can't complain. The staff makes you feel welcomed and answers all your questions you need. I will definitely recommend this location to my family and friends from now on and you got yourself a new one for life thank you once again.

This is my new spot! Dave is awesome, very knowledgeable and honest. Face it, we all stress over a smog check and if it's going to pass. I felt right at home, Dave explained the steps and the process to get it done the first time. I highly recommend using Pops test only smog shop.

Hands down great customer service! Way better than the grouch I used to go to by the Big Brand Tire on White Lane who only honors coupons when he's up to it. Pops beat that groucho smog place by $10 less too!! AND the grouch doesn't even have a waiting room, you have to stand outside and be uncomfortable! This will be my forever go to smog spot!

Quick service with very friendly staff. I will definitely be coming back here for all my smog checks.

This might get lengthy so if you read anything, read that this Smog shop is the only smog shop I'll ever go to now!! So at the moment Sal doesn't smog 1997 vehicles due to the parts to check it but anything 2000 and above he can do! So even though he couldn't smog my truck he was able to do a visual check and also check all my codes and such. I did have a lot of moniters not turn on since I had just changed my fuel pump earlier in the week(unplugged the battery). He gave me a drive route to do to get the ministers to click on, drove and came back and he checked again and my O2 heat sensor did not click on but my Check Engine Light didn't turn on so he said it was most likely contaminated. He gave me my options and exactly what to buy at autozone to fix it myself. Came back the next day after fixing it and he showed that everything turned on and he wouldn't accept any form of payment since he wasn't able to actually smog it but he basically did 2/3s of the test. I really appreciate everything he for me and I will always recommend him to anyone I know who needs a smog test.

Requested a SMOG check and got it done in 10-15 min. Very good customer service would recommend.

Came here to do a smog test I would recommend this place. It's the cheapest in town, fast and professional.

Had a smog on my 2005 G35 wednesday at 2:00pm . Smoothest process! was out in exactly 20 minutes and results sent electronically to the dmv. Price was $50 and every customer recieves a discount. I was going to go to another smog place with an hour wait so happy I came here, Thank you Sal! read more

Amazing service. Very nice guy. Super helpful! We called him 30 mins before he closed on a Saturday. He assured us he could smog our older Honda. Unlike the first 4 places we went to all over Bakersfield he did it. Then even though he was leaving late he still took the time to thoroughly go over the results. And what we can do to try ensure it will pass smog 2 years from now. Will definately be going back there for all our vehicles. read more

I want to say thank you to Pops Smog for taking care of me and my Honda. I needed to get my 1990 civic smog and that Saturday I had went to three different smog shops that said they could do it. Each one of them once I got there told me they couldn't even tho I called before hand. After being so frausted about lying smog shops it was so nice to come across an honest shop. Pops was about to close in 15 minutes and he still took my car in. Older vehicles take 45min to an hour so he could of said no. After he smog my car he still took the time to go over the results. Once again I am thankful for Pops smog. read more

I was looking for a smog test shop and decided to search Yelp. Reviews of Pops came up, and I decided to give the shop a try since I needed to get my registration renewed and most reviews were so positive . There was almost no wait, and he greeted me and he told me he'd be with me in just a couple of minutes. It took no time at all and he was finished with my car. Pops is very nice and courteous and he made getting a smog check a pleasant experience. He provides a nice discount on his service, so the price is appropriate. I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but this gentleman was so nice and efficient that I wanted to support his business. read more

Sal is the epitome of what customer service should be in the automotive industry. He accommodated me with a Saturday appointment and was very quick and thorough. He explained what each emission standard was and where my vehicle fell within the spectrum. I just found my go-to smog guy. Sal is a great guy, knowledgable and set my mind at ease. I drive a 20 year old 4x4 and it passed with flying colors. It takes a little longer for older vehicles so i ate next door at the car wash. Sal has a great price, great service with a smile. Look no further! read more

No wait time!! It was a Monday at 12 noon when I brought my car in. It cost around $50 for a smog and certificate. The owner very down to earth and friendly. He even took the time to explain how a smog works and what the numbers meant. As a woman, i would definitely recommend this place. read more

I got really lucky by finding this place. I needed to get my car smogged and everywhere else seemed packed. So I went on maps found this place and went. I show up and a guy named sal greeted me and told me he could start on my car In about 15 minutes. He pulled my car in and knocked it out right away it felt like I was only waiting for 5 minutes. Really nice guy and I'd recommend this shop to anyone who needs a smog. His pricing is very fair about $20 cheaper than anywhere else I saw read more

this companies owner his ok. but the lady cashier her name is claudia she is very mean, not understanding commercial drivers go through so much stressful situations. they towed my truck without any legitimate reason. my driver goes pays $1500 to release my loaded truck. i provided her with all my legitimate documents including my title of my equipment she kept on harassing us. what type of towing company would ask the owner to get the tractor-trailer registration notarized and get to their tow yard in person to prove her that my truck and trailer is in compliant with california. she wanted me to drive 300 miles to their tow yard knowing i am a heart patient who just had a open heart surgery. i told her my situation she still didn't listen too me. i had to call department of transportation to get my loaded equipment released. i guess claudia gets too lonely and bored in life, since she don't have her own life, so she just love to keep Harrassing her customers. I GUESS HER DREAM WAS TO BE A COP IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. read more

I actually found this place on Yelp and after reading the reviews I wanted to check it out. I called just to see if they were busy and the owner answered and was extremely helpful immediately telling me to come right in. Upon arrival I was greeted outside by a very humble and friendly man who walked by through every step of my smog, as a woman I don't always feel comfortable in car shops. You can tell he takes pride in his work and clientele. I will absolutely be referring this place to every person I know. Do yourself a favor and avoid high prices and head here first! read more

When one tech says there is water in the break fluid (and I just changed it) and that the coolant was low; both needing to be fixed for a cost one has to wonder. When the tech who cashes me out tells me that my break fluid looks great and the coolant level is good, well, there is only one question to answer... which employee was lying to me? Additionally the oil change comes with a free vacuuming of the inside... sigh look at the photos. Boy did I get my moneys worth!

We got our Prius smogged there, and it was done very efficiently, and the owner was very pleasant and helpful in answering our questions.
