So I came across Popular Pizza in September 2023 when I went to the plaza to get some bubble tea at OneZo Tapioca. I was incredibly disappointed to find OneZo had shut down. However, I noticed Popular Pizza had opened up next door. I was on the hunt for bubble tea and not pizza, so I made a mental note to return one day to check it out. That day finally came in December (2023). And I'm kicking myself that I waited so long!
I got the $19 walk-in special, which was a large pizza, 3 toppings and a dip. Three years ago I would have laughed and said "that's not a deal!" But times have changed and unfortunately that is now in fact a deal, lol. I should mention that that price is inclusive of tax, so it's even more of a deal, haha.
I got green peppers and butter chicken as my toppings (butter chicken is a premium topping and counts as 2 toppings). And I chose the Chipotle dip.
The wait was about 20 minutes. And service was friendly and efficient.
The pizza was fantastic! I like that the crust is thin and crispy and they spread the sauce and toppings all the way to the edge. The pizza had a potent butter chicken taste and they were generous with the toppings. Lots of cubes of lean chicken breast and diced green peppers. It tasted like a true Indian-fusion pizza. So tasty. My husband and I really enjoyed it.
The place is strictly takeout. No eat in. There are 3 chairs to sit and wait for your order, but you can't really eat there because there are no tables. They sell pizza by the slice, so I guess you could sit at one of the chairs and eat your slice, lol.
