Me and my wife got into town yesterday and she said we had to go here.So we went here to have a couple of beers and its a pretty cool place.Its just a small little hut bar with music playing in the background.And they have a couple of food items the sell if your hungry.What makes this place a little different is the chairs you sit in.They are actually swings.At least most of them are.Im not sure how good that works if someone has one too many.But overall its a pretty cool laid back place to hang out at,if you just want to kick back and have a couple of beers.Its definitely different. read more

Unofficially called "The Swing Bar" because they have big swings as chairs! My friend and I stopped there on our way to her RV after dis embarking the ferry. This fun and busy bar was a perfect cool spot to relax. The staff is attentive and served up unique and fun drinks from a full bar. Even one of the owners, Ryan, surprised us with his own delicious drink he concocted for us. I would highly recommend stopping by while in Port Aransas. We were across the street trying to go to dinner and there was around a 30 minute wait. We heard music here from across the street so decided to come check it out! This place looks like it has a drive through beer portion during the day. It has swings all around the bar and throughout the bar, but has some tables also. They had live music when we were there and the guy was playing songs by whiskey Myers, Stoney larue, Shane smith and the saints, and was a really awesome vibe. We got a Dos Equis dressed and it was really fresh, but they also offer cocktails and other drinks. This place is currently cash only, but they have an atm on site. Good drinks and an awesome vibe. We will definitely add this to our Port A list of must dos! read more

I saw the negative reviews but decided to check it out anyway when I was in Port A for a couple of days this past weekend, because it was the closest bar to the houses we rented and because they have swings. (I mean - come on - what adult can resist swings and a beer!?) (FYI: As the name implies, this business is a beer hut - aka beer barn - but it also an outdoor bar attached! That's what I am reviewing. We didn't use the beer barn service, but we did stop for a drink this past weekend and enjoyed it outside at the bar!) I found the service to be very good (you order up at one spot at the counter). They made the rounds to every table to let us know it was time for last call, which was nice. They had a good menu, too! Beers (including many local, regional, Texas beers), wines, wine coolers, spirits, and featured cocktails...something for everyone! I'll be honest - a swing at a bar is pretty much my favorite thing. We almost didn't go here after reading the reviews regarding racism, but I'm glad we gave them the benefit of the doubt! This was quite the experience. We roll up with our party of 6, grab a table. There's a sign that says cash only, we try to use the ATM, no workie. Run across the street to CVS, grab a bunch of cash, come back to spend money. I'm not sure how this actually happened but it did: Myself (white male) , my friend (a black male) and my other friend (a Hispanic male) go to the "order here" sign. We're the only people in line. All three bartenders look up at us over the next 5 minutes and nobody acknowledges us whatsoever, not even a nod to indicate we exist. A fellow patron joins us in line (a middle aged white male). Immediately the bartender looks up, points over us and asks what he would like. He gets two beers, pays, bartenders go back to doing anything but helping us. I hope to God this isn't a race related but it seemed pretty blatant that we weren't their type of customer, and it was very easy to determine we needed you take our money elsewhere. Absolutely no chance we will ever make another visit to this location. After looking at other reviews I'm starting to see there's some issues like this. Get with the times folks. read more

Not only is the service outstanding (both the owner and the bartender were great), the atmosphere is fun and relaxing, the swings are a blast and the beer is great. Thank the island gods for Port A Beer Hut . The island was missing a drive thru beer n all. They have 3 lanes for conscience which is awesome. They even have 2 golf cart lanes and 1 truck lane. The are blessing the island with frozen daiquiris flavors which are strawberry, margarita, pina colada, strawberry,mango,Frose and sangria. They have plenty of beers , wine and seltzers to chose from. Service was quick and friendly. Can't wait to go back and explore more. read more

What a brilliant concept! We were able to drive our golf cart (you could do a car instead) through their "shop" and get frozen drinks! They had a wide variety of options but we went for the frozen fruity drinks because why the hell not?!? Then HE left and let us just sit there waiting... so a FEMALE WAITRESS THAT WAS OFF HELPED US,,,, and pocketed our Cash...but served us draft since the MALE BARTENDER LEFT ....He ended up going in with the female bartender in the MENS RESTROOM! For a bit then came out and left us just sitting there! This place is amazing! Although the bar was closed as are all Texas bars at this time they offered daiquiris to go and we got to rent a cart at a great price! Staff and service was phenomenal. We felt like we were treated with great respect and dignity, not to mention they're just great people to talk to. They recommended us places to go eat and things we may like to do. The first cart we rented had a brake issue and they moved us into a new one with no issues whatsoever. We will definitely be returning on our next trip! read more

Spend your money elsewhere. If I could rate lower I would. As a tourist you'll get horrible service that cannot overcome a great concept if the son isn't there. The owner Tim is terrible. Rude and encourages his staff's poor behavior. Apparently Blakely is unskilled at customer service even though we've visited our hometown watering hole since Harvey. The owner doesn't give a damn. Service was great for most of the night, especially due to Garrett, he was exceptional. Took care of me as soon as he got to the bar unlike the other gentleman with the blue and white cap who was on his phone for a couple minutes before checking on his full seats of guests. Super disappointed in our experience with you all. Maybe it matters to you but from our experience it surely won't. Maybe it will matter to folks that will potentially visit your place. We were in your establishment one afternoon while enjoying our time in Port Aransas, which we do every year many times a year, and we enjoyed the swings and a drink. Upon paying the bill, a bell rings and we hear the locals chanting something about tipping. My husband is a good tipper and left 25% and that is generous...If you all don't think so...that's your problem and it is surely a problem. We decide to go back to your establishment the following day and were met with NOTHING....We sit down in a VERY VISUAL place and were absolutely IGNORED.Not a word. The "manager" at least we are presuming he was...short, curly blondish hair and snotty look on his face, saw us multiple times, didn't smile, didn't tell us they would be right with us. NOTHING...The bartender, young woman, short, brown hair saw us and absolutely NOTHING out of her either. Appalling...So did we not tip enough or are you all such ugly snobs that you think that sort of behavior is ok? It doesn't really matter what was going on in your tacky minds but what you did was downright UGLY....We sat there at least 30 minutes swinging in our swing and looking directly at these two staff members and ZERO interaction by either of them. Even when the "manager" dude was walking out into the parking lot, I followed him with my eyes and turned my head to watch him walk out and he didn't even attempt to interact. Your lack of descent behavior shows that you all are a bunch of snotty local assholes, that don't give a shit if they have business or not because you have all sorts of people go through your place and you could give a shit less about loosing two customers.
