We finally figured out we had to order food at the bar, and of course I got fish and chips. The food took some time to come out, but honestly it was well worth it. THIS WAS THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS I HAVE EVER EATEN. Maybe it's because I'm an American tourist and I haven't had enough fish and chips to make a fair assessment. But. I tell you. The fish was fried to perfection: flaky, crispy, and not too greasy. I typically hate peas, but these ones were sweet and fresh. The fries were also good. I am so happy to have stumbled upon this place with my family. I ate fish and chips about 5 other times while I was in the British Isles and none of those hold a candle to this place. Highly recommend for the fish!

A wetherspoons pub, that's where!! This pub, like many of the other wetherspoons was in a grand building with high ceilings and loads of seating. The toilets are big and bright and always clean. We were able to order some drinks and find a great table with a decent view of Greenock. My guy and I only stayed for a few as we were on our way to a concert at the Beacon, but we had high hopes of making it back after the concert for some snacks after checking out the substantial food menu. Unfortunately, we didn't get back from the concert before 11pm (when they stop selling food), but we did stop back in for more drinks and crisps on our way back to the hotel. The perfect night cap to an amazing night.

We have been going here for years. Since we were 16 it was our stop if one of our pals was one year older, had passed their driving test, or we just wanted to feel grown up and go out for dinner! The food is always far better than I imagine it to be! The portions are MASSIVE in here to unless you are completely famished, I would recommend giving the starter a miss and going right onto the mains. Service isn't brilliant, but then again it is a small town and it's usually young servers learning the trade, so be patient. However it is noteworthy to mention that service is always undoubtebly friendly and welcoming. So next time youu find yourself in Greenock pull up a chair in Morgans, and enjoy the biggest meal you'll ever have.

It is a decent enough bar/restaurant and has all your expected beers on tap or bottle. The restaurant part has always been a little hit or miss. It does OK fares with little gusto. - Com'on - it IS Greenock - you couldn't expect too much of culinary standards, as long as it is decent. And they did 'decent food' very well. Not serving the usual food of "[blank] with chips" it did salads, fresh green, rice and el dente pasta meals. Fancy enough for Greenock I suppose. So Morgan's is OK and cheap (ish) and that is what it is.

Recently refurbished, they have split the main bar away from the Bistro to allow children to enter and reduce the noise. Good plan! The menu has been overhauled and they don't have as many dishes on the menu as before which is a lot better for the kitchen ensuring quality over quantity. I ordered King Prawns with Calamari, my mom Haggis Fritters and my sister in law Black Pudding in Breadcrumbs with a Chilli Sauce. No complaints. They were tasty and well presented. We then ordered Balmoral Chicken, Fish & Chips and a Chicken Burger. Portions are extremely good for the price, food was cooked fresh to order and of a good quality. There was only 1 staff member within the bistro when I was in looking after 4 tables, which was okay but we did have to wait at times to be served; not her fault though. The dishes are a little expensive for a Bar Bistro in Erskine, but you'd expect to pay more if you dined in Glasgow for the quality and size of the portions. Our bill for 2 courses and numerous drinks for 3 people came to around £56. Not THAT bad when you think of it. All in all, the Whuppity Scourie is much better than it's predecessors and I hope it's hear to stay.

The wife ordered their "Fisherman" which is pan seared Scottish coley or pollock (for 27 GBP). The battered fish with the chips was more delicately done here and delicious. As an aside I tried several times to find a place here in Glasgow or in Edinburgh that did a "special" fish and chips, that is breaded with crumbs and not battered, but apparently no one does that healthier old school preparation anymore (and I need to inform my old work colleague who hailed from Glasgow and gave me this inside tip that it's not practiced anymore). I also had a Chieftain IPA. The side of peas were dryish and not flavorful and small portioned and not done as well and tasty as I have had in London or Perth, just saying. We also had their sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert and that was good. The fries were mediocre. Server was friendly and attentive. 4 stars overall and a nice local flavor Glasgow outing.
