This place was great we really liked it! Food was awesome the foccia bread and all pastries all home made and you could tell everything was so flavorful. I loved the interior with the eclectic art and designs. The staff were very nice and prices were reasonable in an ever expensive life existence we're having. The roast beef was dry with little BBQ sauce. I went up to the counter to ask for more BBQ sauce and the girl said there was an up charge. I asked how much and she tried finding the price and I finally said forget it and went back to my table. There was also only ONE PIECE of bacon on this sandwich (what a joke). This panini has potential if there was more bacon and sauce which I would expect for the price. Unfortunately with so many good places by I won't be going back here. I ordered the Karen's Kraving (very weird name) panini - portobello mushroom, sun-dried tomatoes, mayo, and a few other veggies. I visit quite a few cafes while on the road working. This one was a strange visit. There was no welcome hello when I walked up to order.. just an annoyed " can I get you something" ...I got a parfait and a sandwich for lunch. You could tell everyone was kind of on edge for filing their catering orders. I was taken back the most when a women came into order and the lady that was making sandwiches in the bandana was yelling at the worker on the POS. You could tell the man at the POS just rolled his eyes and walked away because he didn't want to fight. With people in the sitting areas, this was awkward to me. I'm not sure who the women in the bandana was in relation to this place but she made my visit weird, I didn't appreciate how she spoke to her co workers/ employees. I got my sandwich and left - usually I stick around to work but I didn't bother. The sandwich was good, but didn't make up for the bad attitude in this place. read more

First time here. We were not disappointed! I had the Pilgrim as a wrap, turkey, lettuce, mayo, and cranberry sauce. It was huge!! Hubs had the Tuna Melt Magnifico as a toasted sub. He thoroughly enjoyed it! I also had a cup of Tuscan Tomato Soup. It was by far the best tomato soup I've ever had!! We ended our meal with a chocolate chip cookie that tasted homemade. The interior is like a modern rustic. I loved the old bare brick walls. We plan on being return customers to try more of their foods. Good food, healthy selections. Very good coffee and pastries. Cool space, eating inside or out. My only issue with the place is that the servers behind the counter can be a little miserable. There is one guy who always seems to be happy and helpful, but most of the others (who I think are mostly college kids) act like they would rather be anywhere else. I had fond memories of this coffee shop from about a year ago, when I was last in town. Good coffee, nice location, free internet. Unfortunately, some good things must come to an end, and this is one of them. I started to get a bad feeling when it took the three people behind the counter over five minutes to make my iced chai (perhaps the simplest drink in the world to make) and my feelings got worse when my friend discovered that all four of their coffee urns were empty (anyone of those three employees bothering to check?). We got our drinks eventually, though, and sat down to hit the internet. Except that there is no internet. That sign in the window that says free wi-fi? A lie. I went up to the owner and asked about this. I got a long and involved series of excuses--including that she didn't know the sign was still up--but no refund on the drinks that we bought specifically to use their internet. I walked by a week later and the sign saying free wi-fi was still up. I'm willing to put up with bad service, who knows it might've just been a bad day, but blatantly deceptive advertising? I'll take my business across the river to the Oswego Tea Company, where the service is fast and friendly, the food is better and cheaper and the internet works. read more

What appears as a fairly nondescript storefront masks one of the best kept secrets for connoisseurs of great food in Oswego. I'm particularly fond of their Cuban sandwich, which stands out as one of the best I've ever had outside of Miami. Soups change daily and they never disappoint. One soup in particular that stood out recently was a Tuscan tomato soup with great flavor and a rich, hearty consistency. Sandwiches, paninis, wraps, and salads dominate the menu so there's certainly something here for everyone. If you're a fan of the Panera Bread chain, I'd strongly suggest you stop by Port City for a taste of how it should be done by a great local business that I'm proud to support due their obvious efforts at providing a tasty alternative when compared to bland chains. read more

Where does one go when you don't know the town? Yelp, of course! I checked out Port City (after checking it out here) on a short trip to Oswego. Nice cafe! There were several choices of vegetarian sandwiches, which was nice to see in a small town. I had a delicious panini (Karen's Kreation) with lots of feta. CHEAP desserts. Seriously, $1.50 for a little slice of chocolate tart. It was steady for a Friday afternoon, but not crowded, and no one had to wait to place their order. Just recently came to Port City and the whole place was renovated! It looks great. Much more cozy and inviting than before. The food here is so ideal. Paninis, wraps, salads, soups, good coffee, pastries; the perfect place for lunch. The Rajun Cajun, Tri Colore and Roast Beast are my three favorite menu items. They are very accommodating when it comes down to making a wrap a panini, a panini and sandwich and any other combination you can think of. The seafood bisque, well, I dream about it; it's that good. There is one downside to the this restaurant and that is if you go in with four or five girlfriends it does take a little bit of time if there is a decent crowd. It's a nice little sit down bakery. Very clean and outdoor seating. The food was decent and the cashier was friendly. It seems that they have some regulars they know by name, which made me smile. I haven't tried any of the sweets (I don't have a big sweet tooth unless it's in ice cream form...mmmm Ice cream). I did have the southwest wrap and it was delicious. Definitely filled me up. The Port City Cafe is one of the best spots for lunch in Oswego. They were one of the first businesses on Main St. to create a slightly more hip, slightly artsy dining space. They renovated a 100 year old building and exposed all of the old brick and big windows, then added large murals on a few of the walls. Its bright and warm inside in the winter, which definitely helps make the place nice to visit. Most importantly, the food at Port City is great. They offer a bunch of specialty sandwiches (even the falafel wrap is good), salads, home made soups, and some hot dishes. I've had several of the soup/salad combinations and they've all been good. As the name implies, the Port City Cafe & Bakery also has a case of tasty fresh baked goods - scones and cookies, cake, etc. I live in California now, but I visit the Port City every time I come home to visit, usually a couple times a year. Its funny because I usually run into friends while I'm having lunch - I think a lot of people who have moved away think this place is one of the best places to visit when they're back home. read more

Yogurt was good, coffee is okay, breakfast burritos are nothing special. The atmosphere is nice and clean but it doesn't ever seem to have any people younger than a hundred in it. No internet. After thirty minutes it's a pay per hour internet service. read more

The food here is good, maybe better than good. I was turned off by the staff. I frequented this place quite regularly for a while, doing business via laptop while there. One day I needed to plug in my laptop as the battery was dying. A guy came over (I was told it was the owners husband, don't know) and told me I couldn't use their electricity! HUH? I got up and left and have not returned since. In truth it wasn't the first time I got an attitude from somebody there, but it was the last. I purchased food every time I went there, it wasn't like I was sitting there taking a seat for free. There are other more friendly places in downtown Oswego where the food is just as good. Congratulations, you saved $.15 of electricity that day. No telling what you lost. read more

I went into Port City Cafe just the other day. I tend to let many things go, but they upset and embarrassed me so much that I will NEVER go back and needed to share my story! I was starving and didn't realize that I had used my last mask in my car and did not have one to go inside. I know that they have served people wearing a gator because it is a facial covering. Well, I was wearing a large sweatshirt, so I pulled it up over my nose and mouth, similar to how a gator would cover your face. I entered and went right up to the counter as no one was in line. The woman behind the counter immediately asked me if I had a mask. I replied no, that I was sorry and did not realize I didn't have one in my car. She said I had to have a mask. I asked if she would not serve me even though my mouth and nose were covered with a material much thicker than a mask. She replied saying no she would not serve me because I did not have a mask. She was rude, and provided no alternative to serve me. She could have checked me out within a minute and asked me to wait outside. She could have asked me to go outside and call in my order and they would bring it out. I am not inflexible. She was disrespectful and ignorant of how what I was using is even more than a thin gator that they have had no problem serving people with before. Like I mentioned, I will NEVER go back again. Lost a customer for life. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! read more

Wow Not only was this espresso the most expensive I've ever had, there was no crema on top of it when I got it and it had zero flavor. My illy pod machine at home spits out better shots. $5 burned.
