Hands-down, the best organized Goodwill I have ever been in and I've been in a lot of them! Everything is well organized. Clothing is color coordinated within its size group. and clothing types. Purses are hung from hangers. The place is neat as a pin. Staff was friendly. Not over stocked. Prices were average for Goodwill here in Western Washington. Goodwill should take note at a corporate level! They need to use this staffs model to educate and train their other locations. I am that type of person that generally doesn't go to the stores just for the simple fact it's really hard for me to wrap my head around items that are donated and they put high prices on them. Everything that they sell is a profit for them. And you see the employees are paid very little even though they bring in huge profits every day the stores are never clean especially this one. Everything is scattered all over the place and when they're selling, used face creams, deodorants, etc. that have touched peoples face and skin is not appropriate. It's not hygienic and it's not healthy. I admit, sometimes you can find great deals here, but that's few and far between. Grams was in a thrifting mood so this was our second thrift shop stop. The parking lot lines definitely need to be repainted as cars were parked oddly. We picked up some new heated socks and of course I couldn't leave without a bag of cars for my little one. They had kids snow boots but none that fit my little one. Goodwill is greed-run. It's a disgusting company. This week they actually want $500 for an old shredded-bottomed couch and chair that they are calling "collectible". You do not employ appraisers to gouge the community in this way. Your employees have no idea what they're doing. It is so inappropriate the way this store prices their items. I only come in here if absolutely necessary, and I can't find what I'm looking for at every other thrift store in the county. I almost always leave shaking my head that these people still have any business at all although there are far fewer people that come in here these days. Their prices get worse every trip. There are so many other great thrift stores to donate and give your money to who actually care about people, maintain thrift store prices, and aren't delusionally throwing out insane numbers on price tags because something looks "aNtiQuE coLLecTiBLe!" even thought its literally falling apart and in gross condition. I planned to drop off a huge functional television and called ahead to make sure they were open. They were, but warned that they were closing early due to an air quality alert. When we arrived, there was a large sign saying the same thing. The employees were super friendly and helped unload the tv after asking if it was working or just for recycling. Apparently the word was out about the early closure since the donation line consisting of large trucks was around the block. I'm not sure how that helped the air quality. However, I can't blame the employees and am thankful that I, along with many others, didn't waste a trip. Not every business is so considerate. read more

This used to be a fun store as goodwill started as a thrift store. Now that Goodwill is taking the decent items and posting them at extortionate prices on their websites, the store is mostly junk. I think it is absolutely wrong that Goodwill gets millions of dollars in donated items for nothing then overprices them online. Now instead of being a thrift store, Goodwill is now competing with all of the small online businesses and antique shops. They always ask if you want to round up your purchase for their job training program. However, they have reduced their shopping experience so greatly that I will not round up anymore, nor will I donate items to Goodwill anymore. This has been something I have noticed for a while at this store (no matter the location). They seem to have lost focus on their mission, to help those in need, not just those who work for them but also those who come there to shop. I find it intensely gross they are charging such high prices. They seem to have forgotten that people can go to marshals or home goods or a few other places and get the same item brand new for half the price. People have entrusted this company with their items they no longer need under a miss guided assumption that they are helping people. This is no longer the case. I from now on will only donate my items at Saint Vincent de Paul, a place that is still truly there to help others and give to the community. Just my opinion. read more

Attempted to leave some donations at the donation center. It was cold and moist morning so I took the time to place all my items in covered totes and zip tied plastic bags as I only have a truck for a vehicle. When I arrived they told me they couldn't take my items because they need to arrive in a covered vehicle? I spoke to the manager and opened the totes to prove everything was dry which it was. He then got frustrated, raised his voice at me and said he wouldn't take the items, it was store policy that donations need to arrive in a covered vehicle. Located in one of the homeliest and run down strip malls imaginable, the parking lots are almost always three-fourths or more empty, it does not draw in a big base of custumers. Therefore this branch of the Goodwill is not too quickly picked over and nearly always has some nice things wildly underpriced. So I enjoy dropping in. The strip mall also has a large antique mall where things are pricy and there's never much that interests me personally, but does have some impressive stuff outside my range of interests. If you're hitting all the antique malls, it's nice to have the back-up of the Goodwill to overcome any possibility of disappointment. read more

Every time I go into this Goodwill - the past few months, the vibe I get isn't a good one. I'll tell you that. The employees are unfriendly, anti-social, and they are very unapproachable. There is a couple younger women in their early 20's I'd say, that might be leads or supervisors ~ and they are the rudest and snappiest of all of the employees. I don't know if they are just pissed off at something that is happening in their personal lives or maybe, some work issues going on, but I swear they make the store a very uninviting place. This is the only Goodwill I have been to that has such stuck up, rude employees. Get it together y'all. And hey..... also, try figuring out where to put more clothes or store some in the back. It's very difficult to go through the clothing - when they are all compacted together on the racks. In the past they had a pretty rude staff, especially when it came to the fitting rooms and closing time. It was embarrassing to watch them question people at the register of switching tags. I stood in line and watched this happen twice in 5 minutes. They must think everybody is a thief, I thought. How insulting. I love how professional and courteous everyone is now. During the holidays, my hubby and I did a major winter cleaning and brought a huge load of donations to this goodwill. This goodwill is one of the closest organizations for donations. They usually have quite a long line in back, where you have to pull up and drop off. But the staff has been friendly, so worth the wait. My biggest complaint is INSIDE, every time I have gone, it's a mess, the dressing rooms are always full. There never seems to be anyone regulating that. And pricing is WAY TOO high for the quality of the items, in my opinion. But being one of the few second hand options in that area, I'll keep giving them a shot. read more

First, the staff at this location are very helpful and friendly. I've been shopping here for a very long time. I was driving here long-distance, multiple times a week to buy bags and bags of books because I am a book collector and supply books to the youth through a nonprofit. However, I recently discovered on one of my trips to this Goodwill (months ago) that they have incredibly downsized the book collection. Initially, I was told it was a temporary solution as the books were being moved to the back of the store. Unfortunately, after speaking with the manager and other employees, I was told that this removal of over half the genre's and nonfiction books was a permanent situation. The Goodwill staff claimed that they aren't selling the books fast enough which I know personally is untrue. Additionally, this doesn't account for the removal of complete book genre sections. I was disgusted and highly offended to find my favorite sections removed. For example, there are no longer any Religious or Metaphysical books and countless other sections are now missing. The problem with this, it appears Goodwill is partaking in what I would refer to as "censorship." If a thrift store such as Goodwill receives all book donations but doesn't offer (for sale) most of the genre's, this is controlling what the community has access to in regards to knowledge and education. I was appalled to find fiction novels as the majority of books available. Goodwill, you can keep those! The community prefers truth over illusory entertainment. Finally, you've lost a long-standing customer until this gets resolved. Hopefully, it gets resolved soon. I doubt Goodwill wants to lose countless donations for being seen as a censoring and counterproductive organization. Your books shouldn't be considered less than any other product sold in your store, in fact, you start removing this kind of value from the community, you have little to offer. My advice to Goodwill, rethink this decision and use wisdom, get understanding before you lose all customers, all donations, and all respect! read more

Port Orchard Goodwill has a pretty large selection of fashionable-enough clothing. We've scored big, with some amazing deals. Unfortunately, since they raised their prices across the board some time back, we often walk out empty-handed. "Mom jeans" start at around $8, so if you want to actually look good, you'll have to opt for the pricey, "Fashion Focus" option. :/ We pretty much only stick to the half-off tags now, unless it's something we really need. This is the closest Goodwill to me, and I am surprised by the first reviewer's comments. True, they don't wash the merchandise before putting them out for sale - it's supposed to be donated to them clean. I always take them home and wash them after purchase anyway (who doesn't?) Beyond that, I was confused. I've never seen broken glass/ceramic items there, and anything in those aisles that's $5.99 is either large, new, or some designer I've never heard of. Vases are like $.69 to $4 on average. Glass jars/containers $2-$5 depending. I can't speak for the ceramics - I am not a fan of useless ceramic figurines anyway. And I don't bother with the used fabric furniture, here or anywhere. I'm sensitive to smell. Like, instant headache from certain perfumes, gag at the smell of coffee burning, annoyingly sensitive to smell. Aside from the occasional stinky shopper, this place smells just fine. What stinks is St. Vincent de Paul's, down on Bay Street (gag). I don't know what the employees could do about sweaty customers, anyway - force them to rinse off in the parking lot before entry? This location is far smaller than Silverdale, but the employees have always been friendly enough to me, they stock all day long, the racks are usually not overstuffed (big pet-peeve of mine), and they have a large variety of trendy clothing in my family's sizes. I like Thursdays best because that's when certain items go 50% for the week. It's a Goodwill, not an estate sale. As Goodwills tend to go, this one is A-OK. read more

This is the biggest and best goodwill in Washington for sure however the amount of times I come in and there are customers walking around clearly on drugs arguing with employees and making everyone uncomfortable, it's made me not enjoy shopping here anymore. I understand it's hard to control who walks in your doors to shop, however having a security guard to prevent such outbursts and problems would be best. This Goodwill, I feel is very well organized. There didn't seem to be a lot of larger furniture but a lot of the furniture is at the front of the store instead of the back where is normally is. I guess that's good because then you can or have a store associate carry it straight out to your car instead of pulling it around the back or whatever. The only thing I didn't like is that the aisle are too tight. I mean, there are a lot of items on the racks but the racks are too close together so if someone comes down the aisle with a cart then you're screwed and have to play that game of chicken to see who's going to back out first. Slowly creeping closer and closer down the aisle until one of you decides to back on out. I went on a weekend and it was a price explosion. True that many of the GW's in the area have higher prices. I think pricing the more known name brands can be extreme at times since I can just go to a regular store and get it for that price, but even the branded apparel with higher prices wasn't too bad. The green tag sale really helped me make up my mind as well as to whether I "really" needed some things. I would say go when there are tag sales because you may be more apt to buy something. I will also say, the GW's in the area really don't skip on the tag sales. Normally you go to places like Value Village or whatever and there are like 1 or 2 items with the tag of the day on the rack. This GW was loaded with items with the right color tag. I got 15 dress shirts for a little over $9. Yeah....I know!!! Overwhelmed with emotions. All I'm saying is that the gems are not hidden. Good quality items & it doesn't smell all dank and musty. I almost shat myself when I saw VHS for 49 cent. **DECEASED*** If I'm in the area, I'll definitely go back. So the reason for the one star, when your on a fixed income it used to be, that you was always able to go to goodwill and find things for your house for reasonable prices, now over the last few years unfortunately goodwill has been more and more like a retail store and about profits and not about community. It's ironic after finding out that the company when they do they "so call tag sales" the night before or few days before they actually go in and change the tags on the merchandise, example today yesterday they had a stereo that was pink tag yesterday for 19 99, and the the exact same one today has a blue tag for 24.99, they reason I know that it's the same is that I marked the back of it with a initial so to bad goodwill is not a non profit anymore.. they are just like every other big Company where the CEO AND CFO AND THE COO ARE ALL ABOUT THE BOTTOM.LINE AND ABOUT MAKING MONEY .. They don't give to craps about the struggling families that use to utilize the great and fair pricing .. not no more.. 10 to 15 year old electronics pricing as if it was 10 or 15 years ago!! Port Orchard Goodwill is my favorite place to shop and I've found many great deals and the employees are generally pleasant. However, if you have to return something, or if you talk to a manager because you think you've been charged too much, their attitude changes quickly. I experienced just such an incident yesterday. I'd been overcharged by $2.50, and the only reason I checked my receipt before I left the store was because I had a similar experience involving the same cashier in the past. So, when I told the manager what had taken place, she interrogated me rudely. In the end, I received a refund and the cashier did apologize, but no apology from the manager. She treated me as if I had done something wrong to gain $2.50. I don't think ordinary business can stay in business with this type of treatment of their customers. Goodwill in Port orchard definitely needs to improve customer service. read more

This is a nice Goodwill - clean and well organized and the people are very friendly and helpful. But be aware that if you are taking furniture to donate you should call first because they may say the store is full and refuse to accept it which would be a HUGE pain if you've gotten friends to help load a borrowed truck with furniture then can't drop it off. There's a good supply of stuff at all times, the prices are usually affordable (I've seen some crazy stuff like $35 for an untested Laserdisc player, but that's rare), and the staff is very friendly. This store is really well organized, especially for a busy 2nd hand store. It is typically pretty easy to find what you're looking for, and they always seem to have new, different stuff and plenty of it. However, their prices are RIDICULOUS!!! I found a pair of Rocket Dog sneakers up front in their "designer" section that were marked $49.99! Sure, they were Rocket Dogs, but they were also really beat up, the bottoms of one shoe had a huge crack in it, the toes were extremely scuffed and both were threadbare in places....I spoke to the manager and asked her if she would come down off the price a little bit. She offered me a whopping $5 discount, and when I showed her the huge crack in the bottom of the one shoe and pointed out the scuffs and overall severe wear and tear, her response was to take the pair of shoes and put them behind the counter. I find clothing on the shelves in this store all the time that has stains, broken zippers, missing buttons, and other such issues and often these things are marked between $7 and $20...which I think is absurd for 2nd hand clothing anyway, but it's really REALLY ridiculous for 2nd hand clothing which no one could be bothered to examine to see if it required a special cleaning to remove stains or to see if any repairs were needed. I worked in a similar retail environment when I was younger and I was one of the people responsible for sorting clothing donations. We ALWAYS checked for stains, tears, broken zippers, missing drawstrings, missing buttons, etc, and we sorted clothing into piles of those items which were deemed repairable and worth the effort that would go into repairing them and a pile of items that were ripped/stained/screwed up and basically FUBAR. The FUBAR items were NOT put on the shelves marked full price and even if they had been, our "full price" was one that was reasonable for 2nd hand clothes! The Port Orchard Goodwill seems to have itself confused with a consignment shop or a boutique that sells gently used items which one could reasonable expect to find still for sale new in a shopping mall or one of the better department stores. It is neither of these things, it is a Goodwill. It is possible to find decent prices on used clothes and shoes and their linens section is usually pretty decent, but the prices are getting pretty ridiculous there too. I never buy anything from this store without doing a little haggling with the manager on duty, their prices are just too high. I would reccommend the Silverdale Goodwill store to anyone in Kitsap County who likes shopping 2nd hand stores, their prices are much, MUCH more reasonable and their selection of clothing, furniture, linens, kitchen ware and electronics is a lot better as well. Port Orchard used to have the most awesome used book section but they have been letting that slide as well, although that's the one area they have not raised their prices laughably high in. read more

I miss the Goodwill I lived by in Az. There was a 'Quality Clothing' rack but any designer what not or purse shoe etc was no higher than 25.00. Awesome,my friend. Blouses and jeans were ALL together. AND cheeeep. The eBay clothing vultures had to pick through everything just like everyone else. Some Goodwill locations are nice enough to hold back the really nice stock until the middle of the cheapy cheap day. To kick off this 5 star stunt at Hood Will, I haven't actually bought anything from this location in quite a long time. Last memorable cop I had out here is some Retro Cool Grey Air Jordan 9's. Quite a mouthful and quite a waste of money because they were trashed. However, since then, this joint has upgraded their whole outlook on second hand shopping life. They got pieces for days and you can even catch a rare Abercrombie muscle tee in the mix if you're down for the search. Don't be fooled by the small town vibes that this place exudes because they do have it all now. Their cheap rack is a little think on the pants lines but other than that they could not have a better set of tricks up their sleeve ( low prices ).
