This is by far the most difficult review I have ever written…read more At one point, I had drafted a letter to send to the Governor of Illinois recognizing the outstanding efforts of the frontline caregivers who cared for my mother at this location. Individuals such as Eve, Michelle, Marcia, Randy, Tim, Kecia, Jallesa, and many others whose names I regretfully cannot recall at this moment, provided care that was compassionate, attentive, and unmatched. The love and dignity they showed my mother will never be forgotten. Unfortunately, my appreciation for the caregiving staff stands in stark contrast to the deeply troubling administrative and financial practices I later uncovered. While reviewing recent invoices, I discovered that we were being overcharged for services well beyond what was agreed upon. What followed was even more alarming. The Executive Director, Dawn, demonstrated a complete unwillingness to correct obvious billing errors or take accountability in a timely or professional manner. Her repeated responses were dismissive and deflective, often stating things such as, "I'm sorry the sales director didn't make you aware of this charge," or "There's nothing I can do--corporate has to address it." Most concerning was discovering that we were triple-charged for the same room on the same dates, with three separate charges listed as $175, $275, and $375. Charging three different rates for the same room, for the same dates, is indefensible and raises serious concerns about billing integrity and potential fraud. Let me be very clear: DO NOT enroll in auto-pay at this facility. Had I not carefully reviewed the invoices, these charges would have gone unnoticed and unchallenged. Even AFTER acknowledging that there were billing errors and that they would be corrected, she, along with her colleagues at Corporate failed to make the adjustment giving me no other choice than to make this a legal matter. It is deeply disturbing that one day I was preparing a letter commending this facility to the Governor of Illinois, and the next day I found myself drafting correspondence to the Illinois Department of Public Health and other regulatory authorities to address what appears to be fraudulent and unethical conduct. Families entrust senior living facilities with their loved ones during their most vulnerable moments. While the caregivers here deserve recognition, the administrative leadership and billing practices at this location completely undermined that trust. Proceed with extreme caution.

I'm going with 5 stars even though I think Sunrise facilities are very pricey. In fact, the cost…read morewill leave ya breathless. Most people don't have insurance to cover assisted living costs, and it is not covered by Medicare. You're on your own to pay for it. I'm talking around 4K per month (in Chicago, and up to 5-6K in parts of LA) for a room, including meals and some nursing supervision. If a resident needs medication monitoring, it could be an additional thousand a month, depending on the facility. That being said, my family member vetoed the entire idea, haha. She wants to come live with me! More on that in a sec. Regarding Sunrise: I visited a few of their locations, and spoke to reps from Pacific Palisades, Hermosa, and the one in Flossmoor, a far south Chicago suburb. My elderly relative lives near the Flossmoor location. My Flossmoor contact, Debbie, geriatric care manager of this location, is extraordinary. She seems to have unlimited patience, and her knowledge & expertise are simply awesome. I cannot tell you how much she helped us, over the course of countless phone conversations. I also called the Sunrise corporate HQ at one point early on, and spoke to a customer service rep for more than an hour. I needed guidance, among other things, and I got all that and more. The manager of the Palisades location was another amazing person. He's efficient, follows up, highly skilled in his profession. It would appear that Sunrise staff are quite impressive, generally. I never once experienced rudeness or anything close to incompetence. I realize this is a business, a big one, and their job is to offer great customer care. But they went above and beyond, in our case, for which I am forever grateful. The facilities themselves are beautiful. They look like an upscale bed & breakfast, just lovely. We haven't ruled out Sunrise assisted in the long term. But for now it looks like I'll be welcoming a roommate in the near future. Do I plan to make a Yelper out of her? Just wait and see..........

She was always there for support and to answer questions. Another lady, Lisa, worked directly with my husband. Once again, I was impressed with her enormous compassion and caring. I appreciate the job they do and the care that is shown. I thought the nursing care was extremely good! I would definitely recommend Sunrise in Flossmoor.

Nurses routinely dismissed this, saying she was simply "tired." In reality, she was being administered PRN medications without our consent, leaving her heavily sedated. They have refused to release her medical records with his a violation of the state of Illinois law. During a surprise visit at 10 p.m., we found her in such poor condition that she had to be rushed to the hospital, where she remained for seven consecutive days. Not once did we receive a call from Peace Igbinovia ,, the Executive Director/Director of Nursing, during this crisis. Family concerns were consistently ignored, and promised care services were never delivered. The facility is grossly understaffed, and the competence level of the nursing staff is dangerously insufficient. Integrity -- or rather, the lack of it -- is evident and was even openly acknowledged by the Executive Director aas she noted that several of her nurses were dishonest and unethical, yet she refused to hold them accountable. . Medical professionals urged us to remove her immediately and seek alternative care. We did, and she is now thriving and receiving excellent, compassionate care elsewhere. Families deserve honesty and safety -- Autumn Leaves, under its current leadership, provided neither. If you care...you will look elsewhere. Your loved one deserves better.

But I'm writing this review to express that my family will forever be grateful for the exceptional care that our father received at Autumn Leaves of Orland Park. They made my father feel like this community was his home and we were treated like family. The wonderful caregivers, the nurses, management, cooks and even the custodial members of this community were so kind, caring and loving to my father and our family. I interviewed so many places before I found Autumn Leaves, and at first, it seemed too good to be true, that we had found a place where the staff genuinely cares about its residences and treats them with kindness, patience and compassion. But we certainly had found that place! Autumn Leaves has such a dedicated team; all hands on deck from every single worker! I never saw a staff member on their cell phone while working; they all make sure that the residences eat their meals, get plenty to drink and give them the help that is needed throughout the day. My father's laundry was always done in a timely manner, his room was always kept clean, and his bed made every day. I had a stereo in my father's room, and the caregivers made sure his Frank Sinatra music was turned on every single morning for him without fail while they would get him ready for his day. His medications were always given on time as well. And during the night, the staff would check on him multiple times. If you're looking for a wonderful place for your loved one, look no further than Autumn Leaves. Our family was blessed to have our father here!
