I was curious about how to get started with encaustic and found Linda's class online. Initially,…read moreI'd watched a few random YouTube videos but nothing was giving me the overview I was looking for. Linda's class is held in a converted garage at her home and it's set up for about six students. She has all the tools and supplies, proper ventilation and is a natural at teaching. I took the class so I could learn how to create an antique look to a picture using the natural beeswax. Our class was small and the course didn't include collage work but she made a point to make sure I was able to walk out with something I could use. The class I took was a great overview of how to get started in encaustic and the price was right. Highly recommended!

I teach studio workshops in Oregon and online encaustic classes that you can access anytime and anywhere. Working primarily with encaustic wax, one of the oldest forms of painting, I layer hot beeswax, pigment and resin together, adding and subtracting layers until I get the look I want. No other type of painting offers such a unique combination of depth, luminosity and texture.

My husband and I enjoyed a date night lesson last night and IT WAS SO FUN!!! Can't wait to return in 2 weeks for a glazing lesson and to be in community with creatives. It made all the heavy stuff fall away for a couple hours! Ted was an amazing teacher and so patient and encouraging. We're hooked!!

I took a class (well technically two in a valentine's day special class which was an amazing value) there over the last 2 weeks and I was amazed by how much I learned and enjoyed. Ted is not only a talented artist, but also a patient and inspiring teacher. He showed me how to turn a lump of clay into a beautiful bowl, step by step, with clear instructions and helpful tips. He also encouraged me to experiment with different shapes, textures, and colors, and to express my own style and vision. He made me feel confident and proud of my work, even though I had no prior experience with pottery. The studio itself is a cozy and inviting space. There are plenty of tools and materials to choose from, and everything is clean and organized. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive, and you can chat with other students or work quietly at your own pace. Ted is always there to answer your questions, offer feedback, or just share his passion for art. He creates a stress-free environment where you can relax and have fun. I had a wonderful time at Norris Arts, and I can't wait to go back for another session. I learned a lot and brought home multiple unique pieces of art that I love. It is a hidden gem in the Camas and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try something new and creative.
