The Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory was a short walk from our hotel and we came here with the express idea of having fun. For my wife and I, it was a second tour here which is pretty much the same as the first tour was [with some new players added to the roster.] Your factory tour starts out with a short movie explaining where the wood comes from and how the company is certainly doing its part on replanting trees and conservation. From there it is a really cool trip through a baseball bat production line. Actually, it is nothing less than amazing to see a bat go from start to finish. After the your we spent some time going through this really cool museum Everywhere you turn there is a 'Kodak moment' [photo opportunity] where you stand over home plate and snap a photo with a baseball card backdrop or take with your favorite players...Hank Aaron, Babe Roberto Clemente, Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, and even Derek Jeter. The hall is loaded with fantastic exhibits and amazing memorabilia everyplace you go. This place is fun no matter what level of baseball fan you are. They have a terrific gift shop and a stand aone area wear you can by custom bats with you name on it. You can even order bats with a logo. Marketing is definately a strong point here.

We learned all that and a lot more at the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory Tour. Of course, bats were a big part of our day. We saw bats used by scores of baseball's greats. What was very cool was the opportunity to swing a real bat used by a real star. I went up to a display board that listed scores of names, then I approached an attendant who wore white gloves to hand over my bat of choice, which in my case was a Derek Jeter bat. I was surprised at the weight of the Jeter bat; it really didn't seem to be much heavier than what I swung in my softball days. Of course, he out-homered me by about 500 dingers. There was a photo opportunity where you stand over home plate and snap a photo with a baseball card backdrop! Of course, we did that. We saw realistic wax figures of Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, Roberto Clemente and Derek Jeter. There are fantastic exhibits everywhere that document the history and glory of America's pastime. The factory tour was incredible and traced the manufacture of bats from tree logs into modern day baseball bats. You can buy a customized bat, and every tour patron walks away with a miniature bat. PRO TIP Carrying your miniature bat won't get you past TSA, so you'd better pack it into your checked luggage!

The tracks, the history, the building itself and the stories about jockeys and horses are all fascinating. The day we went unfortunately the weather was not good. Couldn't get a clear view of the track and landmarks. But it was very exciting to see the actual track. Parking is free. The gift shop is good. Lots merchandise for visitors to browse through. 2 horses in the barn when we visited. The museum itself is wonderful. Many historical information and artifacts. The Secretariat section is on the second floor. The fastest horse. And I learned that he had a bigger heart than any other horses. Might be a factor that he was fast! Absolutely a highlight of our trip in KY. It makes me actually want to come for the Kentucky Derby in May.

The kids played with the sensory activities, the dinosaur and animal exhibits, engineering fun, the makerspace and so much more. We ended up spending a couple hours there, and we could have stayed longer if not for impending nap times. The facility was clean and so much for everyone to learn. Our family members, who were visiting from Philly, lamented the fact that they don't have a kids science museum like this by them. It was neat to see it through their eyes. We also ended up getting the membership that also includes the Louisville Zoo. As long as we visit twice, the membership will be a deal. The science center also hosts great events, including some fun ones for adults. Plus we need to go back and see a film in its theater. Like I wrote in my last review of the center, it's a gem!

The price was on par with some of the nicer museums of this nature like Cosi in Columbus, Carnegie in Pittsburgh, etc but the experience wasn't up to the same level. It also felt like there were a lot of kids not being watched closely so we had to keep an extra close eye on our younger crew in this space. The museum features playscapes, hands-on experiences, space exhibits, creamy area, water play, etc. making it ideal for ages two and up.

Once I went when they had Korean based art and it captured the beauty of the oriental style in a modern look and there was a story telling room where each art piece told a continuous short story which was such a neat concept! Last night when I had visited my partner and I got greeted by Darrel the security guard and he was very friendly and accommodating! Art can make you think, smile, and even laugh! Instead of complimentary breakfast, we were charged $36 for a breakfast card that only had $36 in value - so we essentially paid for our own breakfast. To make matters worse, when we ordered, a single dish cost $22, which meant the "free" breakfast card didn't even cover one meal per person. This feels like false advertising. If you're going to charge guests $36 for breakfast, don't advertise it as "on us" or complimentary. Just be honest about your pricing. I expected transparency from this hotel, and instead got a confusing billing practice that left a bad taste - and not just from the overpriced food. I would not recommend staying here if you're expecting the advertised "free breakfast." In addition the pillows are HUGE and the front desk had no other options.

When I think of the '60's, he was in the center of every shitstorm there was - old generation vs new generation, pro war vs anti-war, and toss in civil unrest, civil rights, and race relations for good measure. I followed him over his full lifetime, clowning around with Howard Cosell, throwing lightning fast punches in so many fights (you needed to see a slo-mo replay to appreciate his speed), watched his 1974 championship "Rumble in the Jungle" match against George Foreman on closed circuit TV while at college, remembered his incredible lighting of the Olympic torch at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics as his wracked body was trembling with Parkinson's disease, and mourned his 2016 passing. The Muhammad Ali Center is a multicultural institution and museum dedicated to the man's life and legacy. For a time, he was widely regarded as the most recognizable person on Earth. The Center covers so much more than his boxing career and also showcases his childhood and civil rights-humanitarian works. One of the exhibits features a child's bicycle- a red Cruiser Deluxe and I suspect no bicycle in history packs a backstory like this one. When Cassius Clay was 12 years old, a young hooligan stole it. After Clay discovered the theft, he began crying and screaming on a street corner when a policeman approached him and asked what was wrong. Clay responded with "someone stole my bicycle and when I find him, I'm gonna whup his ass!" The policeman asked Clay if he knew how to fight and took him to the local gym for boxing lessons. And that's how one of the twentieth centuries greatest characters began his rise into history and immortality. This is a must-see museum, plain and simple.

While here working for Western Union, Edison rented a duplex. He was presumed to be around 19. In the city of Louisville at the time his skills with the telegraph presented him with work. During his time here he worked on improving the telegraph system and other equipment. At this little museum come and see the space that has been created in his honor . Many different patents he created. A few models can be seen here on display at this museum. For parking purposes they have a small lot. The hours vary so check before you come . If only for a brief moment in time, Edison studied here. It has been preserved for you to come.

I also recommend coming on Sunday when admission is free, though you will still have to pay $7 per person to access the special exhibits on the top floor. The Abstract Expressionism special exhibit I saw was well worth the $7. Next to the museum is a paid parking garage. There's some nice gifts that can be purchased in the museum store. Speed was founded in 1925 by philanthropist Hattie Bishop Speed as a memorial to her husband, James Speed, an art collector. The Speed Museum is the largest art museum in Kentucky and is located next to the University of Louisville campus. Some areas of art on display include 20th and 21st century painting and sculpture, ancient Egyptian, African, ancient Chinese, German, French impressionism, 17th century English architectural designs and 17th century Dutch paintings as well.

I enjoyed looking at all of the artwork -- paintings, sculptures and such. But my favorite part of Speed Art Museum is Art Sparks, a gallery that's designed for all ages, but especially children. There are lots of hands-on activities in Art Sparks, plus places to sit and read books or just spread out and play. Spaces like this are important to have in art museums, and I'm glad that Speed designated a space just for children. I had a teen and a tween with me during my visit, and we spent a good portion of time in the Art Sparks area. My children do just fine in an art museum, but they're not going to read any of the placards or absorb any of the nuances that surround each art piece. So this interactive area suit them just fine. Random but related: This museum smells amazing! I don't know what kind of candle they have burning here or what kind of fragrance they have piped into the vents, but the ambient scent is so nice.
