I had the pleasure of training with Aly at Lloyd Athletic Club for my first time in the club. Firstly, I was very impressed with the facility. It's so spacious and has many amenities not offered at 24 where I currently go. Lots of courts for racquetball (how cool!) and plenty of space to work out even at 6pm. Aly was fantastic. I told her I wanted a lower body workout and she delivered. I was shaking 5 minutes in. She is so knowledgable that I felt the exercises were way more effective than stuff I normally do. I was only able to work with Khino for a short time, but he was still able to significantly increase the intensity and variety of my workouts, and I started to see and feel the results within a few months. These guys are legit. They really know their stuff. I was having such a difficult time losing weight. I was getting sick all the time and just feeling tired and blah. I decided I really needed to get some motivation to turn things around. I hired Khino as my personal trainer and since then my life has changed. He gave me a nutrition plan that was not difficult to follow, and has guided me to make adjustments where needed or introduce some healthy food options that could fulfill my cravings. My training sessions are very challenging but also fun! I leave my workouts feeling awesome. Since then I've adopted a new way of life. I'm eating healthier, feeling stronger, I'm not getting sick anymore, and I've been able to completely get rid of my allergy medication (which I was taking daily). I'm pretty shocked about the latter because I've been taking allergy medication for the last several years. One of the best decisions of my life! I've always struggled with exercising and was intimidated by going to the gym, fear of being judged, lack of enthusiasm, and excitement. I contacted Nick and he called me the next day. I explained to him that I don't wanna get overwhelmed, pushed too hard, and get bulky. He listened very carefully and answered all my questions in detail and with patience. long story short I've been going to the gym every week since then and man oh man I have been enjoying it. I am training with Derek and he's like the most humble awesome trainer I've ever seen. He's extremely knowledgeable and makes sure you're enjoying the exercise. As cheesy as it sounds I LOVE going to the gym now. There are many different options financially and you can choose the one that fits you most. The gym itself has everything you need. The showers and lockers are super clean and you don't have to rent a locker like many other places, you can borrow a lock from the front desk. There is a lounge area which is very cool and the other day I just sat there working before my exercise session, enjoying a free cup of coffee. Another option they have which I am using as well as a small group training session 3 times a week and honestly it feels the same as a personal training session. They focus on your work constantly and help you through it. I like the 1-1 sessions because I would like to discuss each exercise with Derek and sometimes I'm really tired or sore, so he updates the sets accordingly. Just go to a free session, they won't force you to make your mind right away AT ALL. even after a month they ask if you want to continue or not. Khino and Nick helped me achieve my goal of losing 6% body fat in less than 10 weeks. Plans are comprehensive, no-nonsense and tailored to you. They put your workouts and you put your diet in the same book so you have a written history of what worked. With diet guidance (eat these, avoid those) and focus on safe technique (arms in, back straight) results are apparent within the first couple of weeks. They are supportive and friendly without being overly familiar or patronizing, even when you make mistakes. I've been working with Khino for 6 weeks and could not be more pleased with my progress!! I've lost 24 lbs! Scales don't lie. I felt like I had no idea what I was doing when I went to the gym, I've never been a fitness freak but I've been trying to get in shape for almost 2 years with no avail....
