I visited Knot Springs on a 2 hour day pass as a self care treat/fun experience shared with friends. I recommend using their referral system to get 20% your visit, especially for first timers. Unlimited tea was a huge perk. All the accessories you would need are provided: shower/spa shoes, towels (multiple types), their own line of yummy shampoo, conditioner and lotion. They even have a drying machine to cycle out the water in your swim suit. Love that there are multiple sections (hot soaking pool, warm still water, cold plunge, sauna, steam room infused with eucalyptus) to go through and that there's a guide for how to rotate through the spaces on the wall. The steam room was my favorite. Also love the outdoor balcony section with lots of chairs to soak in sunshine or lounge with a book. In my experience, service is super friendly esp with the mini locker room rundown. Water pressure and temperature is very finnicky in the shower stalls, but they were very spacious. However the women's bathroom portion can start to feel very small during certain waves of people coming in and out. read more

Think 24 Hour Fitness, but make it wellness. Hot tub, steam, sauna... clean, simple, and the staff are genuinely great. No complaints there. But the experience itself? It's just... basic. Cascada, on the other hand, is a whole different level. The comparison honestly feels like Spirit vs Delta, Holiday Inn vs The Ritz, Nissan vs Lexus. Once you've experienced that level of intention, design, and atmosphere, it's hard to go back. Knot Springs isn't bad, it's just not that. If you're looking for a straightforward soak, it'll do the job. But if you're chasing an elevated, immersive wellness experience... you might leave wanting more. read more

I've been to many spas and this was an interesting experience. CONS - You have to walk through the parking garage to the lobby on 3rd floor. Then take the elevator to the 5th floor where the spa is. When you get a massage you walk through yet another area. The layout was very odd and pieced together. - The spa is entirely too small. It was crowded on a Sunday afternoon and LOUD. They should have limits on how many people can be in there because it was crowded and honestly not relaxing. - The soaking pools were metal which was weird and uncomfortable. - The massages were in a literal tent... I felt like I was going camping outside. For the amount you pay this was STRANGE. Also zero music and people were loud again in the hallway. PROS - The massage was great and the masseuse did a good job. - The view... kind of? You are looking at traffic and cars the whole time which is not relaxing but the city is kind of cool. - Staff was friendly. Probably my least favorite spa that I've been to. We only did the thermal experience and didn't think it was worth the price. The facilities feel run down and the pools are crowded. There's a small outdoor, open balcony area but the chairs are uncomfortable. The thermal area is entirely indoors, and there's windows to look outside but still felt claustrophobic, not a relaxing experience at all. I went in with mixed expectations. I had heard so much about Knot Springs both good and bad that I wasn't sure how I would feel until I experienced it myself. I wouldn't categorize the booking process very easy because I was able to book 2 slots for the same time however, I got an email later saying that they can't give me the two slots because there was one less than what I had booked, which is weird . Me and my husband were given different time slots but later accommodated us together. The staff at the check-in counter was sweet however it wasn't true for the staff upstairs who barely took 30 seconds to tell us about the facility and left. I had to inquire from the other patrons about accessing certain services. The space is quite small, which made it feel less relaxing than I had hoped. There was a lot of noise and constant chatting, especially from larger groups, and it felt like you had to be mindful of how close you were to others at all times. Overall, it wasn't a particularly peaceful or immersive experience for me. The facilities also didn't seem very well maintained. I noticed toilet paper on the floors and towels left scattered around. It's possible I visited on an especially busy day, but this was still disappointing and impacted my overall impression. read more

Nice modern spa for a relaxing treat yourself day! I've been twice and will keep going back - it is a little bit overpriced, but it's a whole experience. I got a massage and that includes some soaking time which is great. They give you towels, slippers, robes, etc and also provide herbal tea which is really good and adds to the relaxing environment. There are 2 hot pools and one cold plunge, a steam room, and a sauna. The body treatments are actually provided in a separate space in these sort of tent like separators. It's fine, but if you want a massage with no distractions then maybe this isn't the best place for you. You can hear the other massage therapists and customers in the other 'rooms.' Note that the layout of the locker room/bathrooms is a little confusing and there aren't really enough showers or toilets for the amount of people there are. For management: The robe/ponchos are weird. Just get some regular towel robes for folks getting massages. They also offer memberships but seems pretty expensive. It's a once or twice a year splurge for me, but still nice! I also always smell really good when I leave because they have nice products in the showers. read more

He had a female masseuse and I had a male masseuse. During parts of the massage I felt so uncomfortable by the way my masseuse was touching me (ie touching my actual breasts below the blanket line and not just at my collarbone) and handling my body (ie opening my legs... I've had so so many massages and never had a need for that) I could not even relax. I made firm eye contact with him at one point so he knew I had no plans of relaxing and falling asleep. I didn't want to ruin the experience for my husband so unfortunately I didn't say anything in the moment but told him about it after we left. He felt we should report it to the management the next day. We were told we'd be contacted and never were. If we were contacted I would've refrained from leaving this review. Since we weren't, that experience left a terrible taste in my mouth about this business and I have zero plans to return. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. I came here on a Saturday evening and it was super crowded, but I guess that would be the busiest time anywhere. My biggest issue was the massage room. Not only were they tents, but the tents were filthy! It looks like they haven't been cleaned in years. Knot Springs has been around for almost a decade, they couldn't build actual massage rooms for the $230 per person?! I could hear the people right next to me too. The massage itself was great. My masseuse was Austin and it was super relaxing. The only suggestion is-- I saw him use hand sanitizer after massaging my feet. I get it, touching a random person's feet can transfer things like athlete's foot. But the room smelled like hand sanitizer afterward. Other than that, it was really nice. I really had hoped I'd be posting a positive review about this place because I do think it's really cool. We like the vibe, the boutique feel, the Pendleton towels and robes and the pleasant staff. Unfortunately our last experience left a bad taste in my mouth when after I politely brought my issue up with staff, I received no follow up from management (Though I was told they would). That leaves me to conclude that they probably don't care so we will not be returning. You're vulnerable when you go to a spa and it's not the least expensive form of wellness you can engage in. If they can't meet the low bar of making everyone feel safe, they no longer deserve our business. My wife loves massages and spas so I was excited when my research lead me to Knot Springs. This was the 2nd Valentine's Day couples massage we'd experienced in as many years and we were both looking forward to it. Last year we had 2 women masseuses, this year we had a man and a woman. The man that gave my wife her massage, I later learned touched her inappropriately if not overtly on a handful of moments throughout her massage. This made her uncomfortable (the opposite of what you want from a $200+ massage) and really tainted what was otherwise a great day. Listening to my wife's account of her experience really, really pissed me off. She's kind to a fault and a part of me wanted to crash out on everyone at your establishment but I'm older and wiser and instead won't be returning. I only ask that you prioritize making your future customers feel safe and when they tell you about an incident, investigating it internally or, let's be honest, not at all is a bad business practice. I finally had the opportunity to visit Knot Springs with some girlfriends for a birthday soak. We did a group Pilates first then headed over to our soak. The Pilates was okay, it was super quiet and there were no modifications/corrections done at all. The soaking facilities were nice, the steam room is probably the steamiest I've ever entered in my life. Overall I think we paid $99 per person for our class and soak, the soak was nice but I don't think the Pilates was worth it. I've been waiting for a place like Knot Springs in Portland for a very long time. Having lived in Europe for several years, I was spoiled by some of the state of the art spa facilities available for soaking and relaxing. While Knot Springs isn't perfect, it definitely fits the bill until something else comes along. Located in the Central Eastside, Knot Springs offers stunning views of the river and city below. The contemporary architecture employs stainless steel and concrete to create a sense of vastness that is tempered by natural wood elements and greenery. It really is a beautiful space that makes you feel special as soon as you enter. For me, Knot Springs is all about the stunning pool area and hydrotherapy features. A two-hour pass grants access to the Springs, dry sauna, steam room, hot tubs, and the cold plunge. The saltwater pool is the perfect temperature, and surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows offering gorgeous views. I love the contrast between the serene setting inside the spa, and the hustle and bustle of the city outside. They offer hot tea in the pool area, as well as towels and wraps for your comfort. The staff are friendly and accomodating, and dedicated to making visitors feel comfortable. I've received several gift certificates from friends for massage at Knot Springs, which I've yet to use. I'll update my review when I experience those services. But like I said, for me it's all about the water. I'm a big fan. read more

This place is an absolute gem! Shortly after it first opened a friend of mine got a membership and was raving about it so I came in and took a tour and was blown away. I signed up immediately! It was an absolute place of respite for me every day after work. I loved getting to use the fitness facilities and then treating myself with the springs every night. The gym is great! Plenty of great equipment including kettle bells, and TRX. Never crowded. Access to everything you need without having to wait. I never did the classes, but the roster always looked awesome. Getting to unwind in the springs after a workout was such a treat! Going through the pools ritual felt amazing. The cold plunge felt so great! And the views....omg watching the sunset while you're sitting in the springs is an experience in and of itself. I only wish I hadn't canceled my membership (I was traveling a ton for work for a couple of years). At the time, my full membership was $200 a month, and now it's over $400. While that is expensive, I don't think that there's any other upscale place like this in Portland where you could have access to soaking pools and a sauna for this price. read more

A 2 might be generous as my massage takes the dubious honor of worst massage I've ever had. What was billed as a deep tissue 60 minute massage was an hour of very frustrating very light pressure barely there Swedish massage. I asked for deeper pressure and it somehow became lighter. I noted my hip and shoulders were sore and she somehow managed to evade both. Also skipped both arms. I've never had a massage where they don't do your arms/hands. I was so annoyed at spending $219 for an hour massage and 75 minutes of soak. The soaking was fine. It's pretty cramped in there and the facilities are starting to show their wear- rusted metal in the shower doors and walls, discoloration of the tub at the water levels, windows that need a good cleaning. It's not a deal breaker by any means, but this experience was roughly $100 more than alot of really great massage therapists in Portland, without the bells and whistles of the spa. I've got a hot tub in my back yard and access to a steam and dry sauna, so none of it felt particularly special aside from the stellar views. Anyways I whole heartedly do not recommend this place for a massage. I'm still very sore and in dire need of a good massage. read more

Saw this recommendation on tik tok and would highly recommend! For $89 (on the weekends) you get a 90 minute spa experience (not including any additional massages). But the spa itself had so many options from the sauna, the hot tubs, steam room, and cold plunge. I was too nervous to do fully go into the cold plunge but the people who did loved it! When you walk in, you get a brief tour of the area from the staff and they assign you a locker where you pick your combination. The provide you a scrub and point you towards the showers to get your experience started. What I liked was that if you wanted, there was a board that recommended the order in which you should approach the different pools/rooms. I took my sister for a massage at Knot Springs today and it was an amazing experience. I've been to many spas and had many massages, and this is perfection. My masseuse, Christine, gave me perhaps the best massage I've ever had. Ever. The springs spa is both fun to experiment and very relaxing. They have scented cold towels, tea, water, fruit, and everyone here from reception downstairs to staff upstairs is very friendly and helpful. The views are stunning and we really enjoyed sitting in the hottest pool and then sitting outside & enjoying fresh air. The only thing I would ask for differently is having cucumber in the water, that's always my favorite at spas. I'll definitely be back! What a special place for Portland to have. read more

I really was surprised by how much I liked it here. I'll just start with my complaints: water was quite dirty and smelled of chlorine. Locker rooms are tiny and everyone is climbing all over each other. I hope they can adopt some of the practices that Korean spas use. Also the bathrooms were quite dirty. Overall, I enjoyed the quality of the experience. The unlimited tea was very nice and I enjoyed the bath products provided. The steam room was nice and hot. The towels were great. My friend and I popped into Knot Springs while on a girls trip to Portland. While the smells, vibe, and esthetic are amazing, the place got really packed very fast on the Saturday morning. I was surprised at this because they regulate the number of people that are allowed in at a time. It got really crowded and kind of killed the mood about 20 minutes into our visit. We did have a massage treatment which was nice, but trying to return to the tubs afterward was too hectic so we ended up leaving. Love the concept but for the price and size of the place, they should really cut down the number of bodies allowed in at once to preserve the environment! read more

Knot Springs is an amazing place. This is a beautiful mix of a day spa & bath house meant for soaking, cold plunging, saunas, and steaming. It's a bit above a typical bath house due to the offered classes, membership lounge and gym. I didn't get to check out those amenities , but if I were a local I'm sure I'd be a member. The views are amazing. I was visiting Portland and I ended up going here three times. I did the yoga class first day. Springs back to back days. I literally couldn't get enough. I don't have many photographs of the interior because phones were not allowed in the establishment. We were gifted an experience for Christmas so we decided to book after Portland's ice storm. We had no expectations and thought we may get bored during the 90 minute session. But that was far from the truth! The staff was friendly and provided easy instructions on where to change and what it offers. We decided to follow the regimen that was listed in the area for kicks. Each area had something that leant to the overall experience. The place was also super social all the customers were welcoming talkative or if you wanted to be solo and reflective, you could do that as well. The only feedback that could be worth mentioning was the steam room. It looked like the lights were broken (only 1 small working light) so when the steam emitted you couldn't see an inch in front of you so it was a bit claustrophobic. The sound was also deafening at times. If you stayed long enough you could get used to it but both took me by surprise. My biggest hurdle was the cold plunge. It's more of a mental challenge vs a physical one. It took a little coaxing but I was able to do it twice and stay in between 3-5 minutes which was a good goal for myself. You actually do feel wrapped in warmth once your body gets used to it. I enjoyed the two types of tea that was offered. I also liked the sauna. I'm a fan of Knot Springs. Cons: the shower area is small and somewhat disorganized, and the locker system isn't the best either. The main room is also small and got a bit crowded. There are people trying to relax quietly, and there were also people having loud conversations. The sound that the steam room makes is really really awful. Loved the whole experience! Everyone was really nice and it was clean and well maintained. My mom didn't love that her massage was in a tent and she could hear the people on both sides of her, but mine was in a regular room. The only thing we didn't love were the "robes" that are open on the sides. Also be aware the locker room is co-ed, but the bathrooms with some of the showers are separate. We arrived in the parking garage below Knot Springs. We had to take the elevator to the third floor for the reception then we had to go again to the fifth floor for Services. Once we got checked in we got a wristband and walked to the area where the pools were. There was a lukewarm pool, a hot tub, a cold, plunge pool, a steam room, and a sauna. There was also a desk where there was either hot tea or cold water. They provided silicone cups for us to drink out of there were also hand towels to use. The river mint tea was absolutely delicious. The locker rooms were coed and then you could go change in the women's room area or the men's room area. I am surprised that the locker rooms were coed, but it was not a big deal. They had showers with rain faucets. That was really nice. They had shampoo conditioner and body wash and you could take a shower with a curtain and then dry yourself off and change in the same area, the massage was absolutely fantastic amethyst exactly every muscle of my body and knew where to hit. She is literally the best massage therapist I've ever had. I would definitely come here again. read more

Unclear directions from staff. Steam room offensively loud and overstimulating. Changing area has no where to set items down/ change with privacy. Lots of mixed gender folks close by and difficult to settle in comfortably. Poncho that is loaned for stay in spa is huge and itchy. It was almost 100 degrees the day of my massage treatment and they kept requesting I wear the poncho. It did not cover the entire sixes of my body not to mention it was uncomfortable. Massage was decent but the massage therapist was venting about how disconnected the front desk/welcome staff is with the spa. Not a great vibe for relaxing. My experience here was a pleasant one! I was looking for something relaxing for my boyfriend and I to enjoy for our trip to Portland during August of 2022 and found this little gem on the Mindbody app. I had booked the springs visit, so it was $59 per person for a 90 minute visit. This includes getting access to the springs, sauna, steam, hot tub, and cold plunge. When we got to the facility, there was street parking available, and the entrance was fairly easy to find. The ladies at the front were nice and professional, giving us the necessary materials to check-in and then gave us the run down on how the facility works. We got these cute waterproof wristbands that gave us access to our lockers, where we were able to store all our belongings, and it could fit a lot to be honest. We were planning to have a full day exploring that day, so we packed ahead for those that are wanting to do the same. You're instructed to wash off first before heading to the springs, where they do have a large sign in the middle with instructions on how to navigate the areas. For example, you'll do the tepidarium first then hit the caladium (hot tub) next; followed by the cold plunge then the sauna. However, you can essentially go to whatever springs you want in any order. There is also a water bar up front, where you can hydrate, and then even a nice outdoor patio to relax and rest. We definitely felt like jello after our visit here; calm, collected, and rejuvenated! read more
