It has tv screens for sports, and darts and pool table. The garden was my favourite, like being sat in your nans back garden with lots of little orniments and flower pots. felt right at home! Friendly staff and they aprently do homecooked meals which ill have to come back try one day. There was lots of choice of booze and a proper pub atmposhere :)

There's not much else down Lodge Causeway, so you'd think they'd have the monopoly, although the several occasions I've visited its been dead inside. Not exactly the social scene of Bristol, this end of town anyway. The food is basic fayre, although the sarnies and chips are of generous size and the list of fillings is extensive. The best thing I can think is that they sell the rather unusual ale, Sharp's Doombar, a dark bitter brewed down in Cornwall. You can't find it everywhere, so a pub selling it on tap is worth a visit. The jukebox is stocked with standard indie and dance tunes, so sit back in one of the large leather chairs and dream an evening away, if you so happen to venture this far out of the city centre.

It has a fairly modern and colourful interior with paintings on the walls, and has always been spotlessly clean when I've visited. There is a main bar with several tables whilst to the side is a more secluded sofa area. Further tables are through the alcove to the rear. There is also a nice beer garden in the summer. It serves plenty of different beers/lagers rather than just Carling and also has a good standard traditional pub menu. If you're in Fishponds of a Saturday evening they have a karaoke which is surprisingly good thanks to the excellent host. They also have a couple of tv screens and show the football. This is probably the best place to start a night out in Fishponds.

Great diner style cheesburger, really enjoyed it. 2nd occasion for Sunday lunch was equally top drawer. The landlord apparently grows his own vedge in the local allotment and you could really tell it was fresh. Also the landlady was really friendly and went out of her way to make us all feel welcome. They put on a lot of live music there on weekends which is great! The Saturday night we were there was a lot busier, they had a few colourful locals in. Not being from the area the natives are taking some getting used to!! That's in no way a criticism of the venue! I think all in all they're doing a fantastic job with the place. Good quality food, Friendly staff and encouraging local live music. If this pub was in the city centre it would easily give the Hatchet and Crown a run for their money as alt venues go. Cheers!

I had just been on a very long journey and was desperate for the toilet so thought I'd harmlessly go as I was staying there for the evening anyway. I was glared at by all as I walked in, went to go into the toilet and was shouted at 'toilets are for customers only', I said I was just going before I ordered my drink and they didn't believe me. I felt terrified, and as I walked out they were talking about saying I looked weird as well. Needless to say, my friend arrived and we went somewhere else. Most unwelcome I have ever ever felt.

There is also a regular slot for live music, every friday at 9pm and sunday at 6pm... if all goes to plan anyhow! With a good selection of ales, beers and ciders (lots of ciders!) you can always spot a few regualrs and friendly faces when ever you walk in. With the pub located almost in the centre of the shops that are along Fishponds road people often stumble in during a shopping trip. As a follower of football i do enjoy spending saturdays and sundays screamijng towards the screen when Wayne Rooney bangs in another goal for the season, yeah I'm a Man Utd fan....problem? As well as being good for sport, the Golden Lion also boasts live music each weekend and is always guaranteed to be lively any day of the week with it's own football and darts teams. A joyful pub and one to come along to if you want to watch the football with me, I am the lone Man Utd fan in my group of friends - the fools!

The ale choice isn't too great, with butcombe bitter being the one cask ale on offer (I believe) There is a pool table which is alway a plus in any pub and a dart board which is a cheeky bonus! Food always looks smells lush. Only ever had snacks and coffees in here but always really fresh and yummy. Staff are really friendly and the cafe decor is really relaxing and comfortable. Attention to detail - a sprig of fresh rocket with pizza, a little extra froth on the cappuccino goes a long way, although I doubt I'd stop here if I didn't live close by. St George is off the beaten track from the city centre and rather uninspiring in terms of surroundings. Blah!

The food menu isn't huge which I think is good to keep the quality, which it does. You can expect in trend meals such as 'Mac & Cheese' & pulled pork etc as well as tradition pub favourites. However I feel the menu could be refreshed more often. I can highly recommend the gnocchi on the current menu. You can tell I've eaten there once or twice! Steak night on a Thursday is great and really popular. 2 good quality steak meals and a bottle of wine for £30. There are various themed evenings to check out and the odd event such as a cider and pork day festival that happened early this year, which was a lot of fun and family friendly to boot. What I really like about it is that it has a really cosy, proper pub feel to it, while also being a really good restaurant. The food these guys serve up is fantastic! They do a steak night which is every Thursday which is 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £30, and with the quality of the food its a great deal. They have good outside seating areas at the front me back and have a brilliant hog roast and cider festival in the summer, with live bands and lots of banter. Sunday Lunches are also really good. But it's not all about the food, however good it is. This is a really good pub that feels like you're in your local, even if it's the first time you've been.

They have entertainment twice a week and these nights tend to be quite busy. They also do a cracking Sunday roast - book early to avoid disappointment!
