Pretty deluxe place. Staff was excellent. A couple of issues but nothing that was overly traumatic that could not have happened anywhere.
Super clean, super central. Actually a bit too central... I would not stay on this heavily touristed street again. But that's kind of what you get in many "central" parts of Porto, whether further or closer to the Ribeira area. (My first time there so what do I know?)
These pix maybe don't do it justice as it was definitely a nice place. Any complaints? Of course! :
Not all taxis can take you to the front doors and the staff at the hotel did not seem too keen on helping with you retrieve your luggage from a block away. (Short block and I was surprised... they had a few guys around do nothing but didn't budge.)
We got a pretty large room (with an upstairs and a down stairs)... as it turns out, that just meant you had to schlep everything upstairs because there was no place to put anything downstairs... super stylish, not super functional. It sounded kinda cool having a two-story hotel room and have had one in the past... but this layout was not ideal.
Dark. When you are traveling and want to unpack your, clothes, toiletries, umbrella, shoes, meds... everything!... it'd be nice to not have to use a flashlight. That might just be me (these days) because this seemed to be one in a string of beautiful-but-dim hotels that we stayed in this trip.
So... don't get me wrong. I think it IS a five-star hotel... but, given that, one that only gets four.
Pro's?
