First off this review is long overdue (7 months) but I hired Shanti after a recommendation from our wedding planner and she did not disappoint. Shanti was wonderful to work with. She's local to Half Moon Bay, so she knows some beautiful, nearby locations to shoot that others may not even know exist. I really appreciated that Shanti provided us a timeline for our event when she sent the contract. This timeline included who, what, when, and where, so we were able to use this as the baseline for our day-of schedule. She had the wisdom to build in some buffer which prevented us from running late despite delays at the salon. Both Shanti and Shannon, her associate photographer, glow with compassion. They shuttled us around the different shooting locations, held bouquets when we needed our hands free, pulled people's hair out of their faces, held up my train to keep it from getting dirty, tidied up around us to make sure no messes made it into the shot, held everyone's sunglasses for them, and so much more. I am starting a business and needed some photos of myself for the website. After looking around photos on my computer I realized I needed to see a professional to get some headshots. Facebook friends had posted Shanti's work and it looked really good so I decided to give her a call. Shanti is very efficient with her time. She spent about 15 minutes taking photos in various poses. Modeling is not my strong suit and Shanti was good at directing me, and helping me relax. I tend to feel self conscious when getting my photo taken. She even offered to drop off the photos at my office when she was finished with the editing. The photos are wonderful. I have a CD of about 20 different photos to choose from. After my first phone call with Shanti, I knew she was perfect for us. I never understood when people said it was important to "interview" your photographer, but now I understand why! She was understanding about any sensitive family dynamics that may affect photos and made us all -- including my photophobic husband! -- feel so comfortable. Can't say enough good things about Shanti, both as a photographer and as a person. From the initial meetings, she was kind enough to welcome us into her home to share with us some of her prior work as well as to get to know us better. That really paid off when it came time to do the photos, as my (now) wife and I could really act naturally and be comfortable around Shanti. She was also great in knowing our location so well (Half Moon Bay), and was able to suggest photo locations and back drops that were ideal based on current weather conditions and our interests.
