Being from the central US, most vacations in the past have been mountain/cabin camping and motorcycle riding trips. Renting a 48 ft catamaran and having 8 people, plus captain and skipper in tight quarters was a bit of an unknown. However, by the time we completed our 2-day trip, every one of our family and friends couldn't stop talking about how fantastic the experience was. Before the trip, Captain Terry Mentor reached out to me and asked if there was a particular plan I had in mind. I indicated we'd like to do some snorkeling, island exploring and if the winds permitted, learn the ropes of sailing. Once on board and under way, Captain Terry and skipper Troy were great. For our two-day trip, including two nights at anchor, we headed toward the Marquesas Keys, about 20 miles west of Key West. On the way there we stopped at several different reefs and had a fantastic time with the family snorkeling. We say rays, dolphins, hammer heads, sea turtles and lots of fish. The first night the ocean was absolute glass, and we viewed the beauty of the sun setting into the ocean. A couple of the kids even slept out on the trampoline. The next morning we experienced the sunrise and another day of snorkeling and exploration. In the afternoon, skipper Troy lowered the dingy into the water and took us onto one of the islands. In the shallow waters we saw some sand sharks and then traveled into the central lagoon of the island. Later we visited a shipwreck and explored the remains. Each night Captain Terry and Skipper Troy were part of the family games and storytelling, they fit in nicely. The initial boat check-in and final check-out process went smoothly and everything, including the boat were as advertised. All in all, this was a unique family experience away from it all with beauty, adventure and encounters with unique marine life we will remember for years to some. After a 700 dollar order, they provided a measly 100 dollar credit. Don't use them, as they aren't the luxury experience they claim. You can do far better with a company that treats their customers well.

The shifting was tough and you just knew it was worn hard and for the $1200 price tag (plus fuel) it was def not what we were expecting. We know boat rentals are expensive but there were moments that left us uneasy with inability to reverse and the vibration over 20mph. Noted to the team but they were apathetic to it and when taking my family out that's not enough for us. Wouldn't recommend if heading out to sea for fishing or anything less than flat waters.

In my experience many of the boat rental outfits tend to be really cut throat and border line hustlers in the way they run their operations. Keep in mind I said many, not all. My recent experience at All Aboard Boat Rentals compelled me to sit down and share it with the world in hope that I can help others. I am going to be as concise as possible otherwise people will skip over my review and miss out on the best part. ****DISCLAIMER***** Not related, affiliated or paid in anyway Pros 1. Open on time. Believe it or not it's not the norm lol. 2. Answer the phone. If you call them with questions, issues or concerns they are more than happy to assist however possible. No attitudes or rudeness (unless provoked) 3. Knowledgeable staff that quickly go over the details of the boat like, safety requirements, propeller condition, fire extinguisher, shallow areas to avoid. 4. Well maintained fleet. We rented 4 different boats over the course of two weeks and we didn't experience a single issue. Turn key operation every time. All the electronics worked too, the radio, the GPS, the fish finder etc... Even the hulls are well maintained with very little marine growth which helps with fuel efficiency and top end speed. 5. Well stocked store. You can get everything you may need right there. From ice to chum, squid, basic tackle, snacks etc.... 6. Best part is the staff. I don't have all the names but I interacted mainly with Steven, Jay and the queen of customer service TONY!!!!! I can't say enough about this group. I've watched them interact with people of all walks of life and budgets and ethnicities. They treated everyone exactly the same even those that don't speak the language. It was very cool to see Steven using google translate to communicate with none English speaking customers. That most have been frustrating but they did it anyway. You'd think this is the standard but I can honestly tell you that this is not the case everywhere you go....sadly. Constructive criticism 1. I wished they had a way to store basic customers information so you wouldn't have to waste time with the paperwork every time you rented a vessel. Or streamline the process a bit more . I am sure it's a very small percentage of customers if any that actually read that many pages. If you are staying in Marathon and want to rent a boat, I strongly suggest you give All Aboard Boat Rentals a call.

Immediately when we got in the water there were TONS of fish! I had a magical moment with a spotted eagle ray. There were tons of barracuda. My only complaint........ What should have been a fun and relaxing experience ended up being a mix of excellent…read moretransportation and some of the worst customer service we've encountered. We were a party of five, including one child under 12. We arrived very early for our departure. The gentleman directing traffic made me drive all the way around another lane, even though there wasn't a single car behind me, just so I could pull up next to him. It seemed unnecessary, but not a huge deal. The first real disappointment came at the ticket window around 6:30 a.m. The woman working there was incredibly rude, short-tempered, and dismissive. A smile or a simple "good morning" would have gone a long way. If working with people has become that frustrating, perhaps customer service isn't the right position. The ferry ride itself was fantastic! The boat was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The restrooms, both at the terminal and onboard, were spotless, and the crew on the ferry was friendly and professional. The ride to Key West was one of the highlights of our trip. Unfortunately, our vacation was cut short when one member of our group experienced a heart-related medical issue, forcing us to return a day early. We called the company and were told we could take the Sunday evening ferry back, which sounded accommodating at first. However, we were then charged an additional $60 per person--including the child--even though we already had round-trip tickets. On top of that, we received no refund or credit for the parking. We had prepaid $40 for two nights, but because we returned later than planned, we ended up paying for a third day as well. Considering the parking lot was nearly empty, some flexibility or goodwill would have been appreciated during a medical emergency. We were instructed to arrive after 1:00 p.m. to pick up our boarding passes for the 6:00 p.m. departure. We arrived at 1:30 p.m. and were immediately told we were "late" and would now be assigned to Group B boarding. The woman at the counter was shockingly rude. She rolled her eyes, spoke to us in a belittling tone, and even stated that she was "over 65 and doesn't give a s*** anymore dealing with people." I've never heard a customer service employee speak that way to paying customers. The experience only got worse. When Group A boarding was called, I stood up because I thought it was our turn. The same employee actually rushed out from behind the counter waving her arms and motioning for me to sit back down, as if I had done something wrong. It was embarrassing, unnecessary, and completely unprofessional. It's unfortunate because the ferry itself is excellent. The boat, the ride, and the onboard staff deserve five stars. Unfortunately, the employees at the ticket counter turned what should have been a wonderful experience into a stressful and unpleasant one. We travel often and understand that emergencies happen. A little compassion, professionalism, and kindness would have made all the difference. Instead, we left feeling like we were an inconvenience. Sadly, despite loving the ferry ride itself, our entire group agreed that next time we'd rather drive the seven hours from Sarasota than deal with the ticket office again. 2/5 stars One star for the wonderful ferry ride and onboard crew. One star for the clean, comfortable boat. The remaining three stars were lost because of the consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional customer service at the ticket office.
