These people have been out twice, first time over $2,000.00 and replacing parts that didn't need to be as it wasn't the problem. Second time they diagnose what's wrong and another $1,000.00 later, it's still not fixed and no word on when they're going to come out and fix it. Horrible communication and don't expect calls back because they ghost you once they take your money. Jeff the mechanic is about the smartest person they have, just sucks that he works for the company he does. If our boat is not fixed within this week then I'm going to the Attorney General as well as the Better Business Bureau. DON'T CALL (BEWARE!) this company. They will try and scam you. I contacted them for 100 hr service on a 150 Yamaha. They asked our our was OK to charge my cc 19.97 to confirm i was a legitimate customer. So I let them make that charge. They then sent me a contract to sign. I read the fine print about a monthly subscription reoccurring charge for me to sign, that I didn't sign. That was a red flag so I canceled the service call and found someone else. They have been charging me that monthly 19.97 . I had to cancel my card and get a new one to make that charge stop. read more

Zero stars would be provided if it were allowed. PLEASE read the other negative reviews before doing business with this establishment (wish we had done our due diligence, but we were in a jam, and they take advantage of that). I truly believe any good reviews are friends/family/co-workers. All the negative reviews have very similar experiences. We requested "emergency" services on our boat because it was a Sunday. After multiple check-ins with no update, a "mechanic" showed up unexpectedly the next morning (no heads-up that he was coming). Our boat was not peeing properly. The mechanic did absolutely NO diagnostics, performed a safety inspection that was not requested (and subsequently charged us for), did not diagnose the issue and stated that the lower unit needed to be removed to be inspected. This would require us to trailer the boat to be worked on. Since this "mechanic" literally made no attempt to diagnose the issue or solve it at the dock, we did not trust his expertise and asked him to leave. This all happened within ~10 minutes. After watching a few YouTube videos, we were able to fix the issue within 5 minutes using a STRAW CLEANER (while we attempted this earlier, we weren't clearing the correct pipe). The suggestion they may would have cost well over $1k. This is their MO. Not only did they charge me a $500 deposit that was supposed to go towards repairs, but they then submitted an unauthorized charge of $400 for canceling. We did not cancel, we asked a scammer mechanic to leave as we did not trust his recommendations (rightly so). How can they expect us to use a mechanic we don't trust who didn't even diagnose the issue? A reputable business would have apologized for the experience and tried to make it right... not Poseidon... they double down and submit additional charges. Again, read the other negative reviews... very similar experiences. I know they will respond to this review with the same tone they've used with other reviewers... typical gaslighting. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Poseidon Marine Mechanic. Initially, I called them for a one-hour inspection to address rusted and seized pulleys. Without my approval, they went ahead and replaced the alternator, sending me a $1400 bill. Despite this costly repair, my boat was still inoperable. Their next suggestion was to replace the raw water pump for an outrageous $2000. After this repair, the boat remained inoperable, and they then suggested replacing the original issue, the rusted and seized pulleys. I am now out $3000 and my boat still has the initial problem and is inoperable. I am forced to find another competent mechanic to execute what Poseidon Marine Mechanic should have done in the first place. To make matters worse, they will not provide estimates or invoiced amounts until you refuse to pay an open amount. This company is unethical and their mechanics are incompetent. Called and spoke with Andy, Sales Manager, about getting a quote for 100 hour service on 2- 200 hp Mercury Engines. He texted me a quote of around $960.00. He said, he was "over estimating" the hours it will take and should probably take less time and cost less. He was very nice and professional. I asked for a written estimate and a copy of their insurance. He later texted me back and raised the quote over 30%. New quote was now $1,320.00. I questioned him about why after requesting it in writing the previous "so-called" high estimate was actually 30% too low and he started to say that due to the clock starting when the mechanic leaves the shop and they charge the per/hour time at that moment. He also said that the higher quote is a guaranteed price and if it takes longer they don't charge more and if it takes less time, they don't credit me back -- regardless, I pay the 30% higher quote. None of this made sense and when I questioned him further, he said to call him. I called him and he apologized for the higher written quote and said he sensed that I was hesitant and not trusting of their company due to this discrepancy. I then started to respond to his comments by saying "I was a little confused by the sudden change in pricing and your text said...." he then cut me off and said... "Listen, the quote is the quote and said it's not going to change, we're a week or two out for scheduling and are very professional, but I can tell that we're getting off on a bad start..." I said, "... Okay, I was just responding to what you advise me and was going to try to understand a little better and it sounds like you didn't want to hear what I had to say..." he cut me off again and said, "it's better you find someone else to do your service, we're not interested in doing business with you." I said, okay, thank you. I was prepared to proceed with them but simply wanted to make sure there's no additional surprises and for Andy to acknowledge simply that he made a mistake. Instead, he tried to blame me for believing his original estimate and not wanting to have to admit that he was wrong. An absolute rip off. I hired Poseidon to complete a hundred hour service on my two Mercury engines. The Service advisor Chad assured me that Poseidon was an otherized Mercury repair shop and the 100 hour service would cost $550.00 which I authorized. I drove the boat the two days before the service and I noticed that the power steering seemed tight and I made Chad aware that it would need to be looked at. One the date of my original service Chad called me to make me aware that two hubs needed to be replaced and asked for permission to replace them, I did. Two days after the following day Chad ca. The filled again to inform me that the Service Technician was unable to remove the oil filters from the housing with a standard oil wrench so he stabbed them with a screwdriver to get some leverage. (On a two year old bout) Chad advised me not to start the engines. The following day the Technician came out and replaced the filters and housing assembly. Poseidon charged me $4500.00 for this work. The following week I took the boat for a ride and noticed not on grease fitting had been touched and both engines were shaking uncontrollably. Poseidon sent a second Technician out who said he had found a vacuum leak caused be the first Technician. The vibration did slow down but didn't go away. I was told that I had a Knick in my propellers and that they needed to be replaced at a cost of close to $5000.00 . I called another company for a second opinion who found the factory spark plugs still in the engine and claimed that other then the oil filters being changed they had seen no evidence of a 100 hour service being completed on either motor. I called my Service Adviser Chad and let him know that I wanted an explanation and a credit for the 100 hour service that I paid for that was not completed! I have been ghosted since then. read more

I called them and they gave me a quote to come out and start my boat for a few minutes as I don't have time to start it. They gave me the quote which I thought was fair. After they came out and ran the engine for a few minutes, they then sent me a bill for more than double the price despite not doing any extra work. The worst possible experience imaginable. I was considering buying a boat from my neighbor. He was going to have the boat checked over and tuned up and I would have them do a pre-purchase inspection. I worked with the owner to make sure they had the boat make, model and year and the engine model number. Two mechanics showed up the first day. The first think one said to me is that they do not have the tool to take off the douprop and they would have to make another trip. He said the company didn't own one. The motor didnt start and they charged me 600 to diagnose that it needed a fuel pump. The next time, the mechanic showed up, she couldnt get the fuel pump off. This trip was $1800 and still...no running boat. They also told me that the boat needed a water pump. The third time they came out, the mechanic said that he didnt have a prop puller and the water pump didnt have a gasket needed. That would have required a fourth trip, for which they are charging me travel time. So after three trips and over 3000...no running boat. Terrible communication, they come unprepared and they dont really seem large enough to be responsive. read more
