Posh salon gets 5 stars for professionalism, customer service, and atmosphere. Unfortunately, my haircut/color did not meet expectations. I've been here 3 times. My first couple visits went well enough, but my last visit my hair didn't turn out at all how I was imagining. I went in asking for an ashy blonde ombre with some layers and came out with a more yellow toned (see photo) balayage with no layers. I did go back and have the stylist add some layers, which she did at no cost. I'm most disappointed in the color, especially because I feel I was quite clear that I wanted an ashy blonde. I didn't mention the dissatisfaction with my color because 1. I didn't want to get it processed again so soon and 2. Because I was a bit wary of how it would turn out since what I asked for wasn't done the first time. I'm not saying I'd never go here again, but if you're looking for something a bit more edgy/different, there are probably better places to go. Or, before you book an appointment, make sure you schedule it with a stylist who is skilled in specifically what you want done. There are many here to choose from. read more

City prices in a suburban salon...doesn't really make sense! I got highlights here and while they did good job, I just can't justify the cost for the service. The highlights cost $85 dollars. For some of you this may appear to be a great deal...but let me put this in perspective. I had recently got my hair chopped off (at MCN salon in the Shades), when I say chopped, I mean about 4-5 inches came off. So my hair was substantially shorter than it was before (above my shoulders). Thus, there's not as much hair to put the (partial) highlights on. Secondly, when I made the appointment I was told that I'd have to walk out with wet hair since that particular stylist wouldn't have time to dry my hair. Fine, not a big deal, I'm not a big fan of getting my hair styled at the salon b/c most stylists have no idea what they are doing with curly hair. Thus, I literally just got some highlights slapped on and was given a hair-dryer and some product if I wanted to style myself. Ok so for partial highlights on short hair and having NO "special salon feeling" since I'm styling it myself...what the heck was I paying $85 dollars for?!?! I've gotten highlights before on my super long hair and I've had to pay around that price, but for my short 'do, I expected it to be less. And I might as well have gone to a city salon and gotten the highlights and blow dry afterwards (the whole sha-bang) paid a similar price rather than salon suburbia where my expectation was that they would have competitive prices to city salons. Summary: my reality at Posh did not meet my expectations. After reading the Yelp reviews I thought it would be a better value. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! I've tried a lot of different places and usually end up less than satisfied. I've been coming to Posh for about a year and a half and found a keeper! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. As soon as you get there they also offer you a drink and take your coat. I love Kelly! I could never let anyone else cut my hair again. She's always running in time and honest with her opinions. I am generally a spur of the moment decision maker. When I see something on Pinterest I like, I want it done now! Luckily Kelly always has my best interest and usually talks me out of it! (I usually end up hating whatever I do as soon as it's too late to turn back!) Plus I've been trying to grow my hair out and she's great at keeping me I track. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is excellent. I'm a lifer! read more

Went to Posh for my wedding day hair and makeup for myself and 9 (!!!) bridesmaids. I can't say enough about the staff and stylists there. They were organized, attentive, sweet, and we all left the salon looking our best. A perfect way to start my wedding day! Incredible! An absolutely luxurious and perfect experience! If you're reading this, this is your sign to treat yourself and get into a chair at Posh ASAP! You will be so glad you did. I came into the salon with very fine, dark virgin Asian hair and wanting pink highlights. I had never gotten my hair dyed or bleached before so I had no idea what to expect. Posh exceeded my expectations through and through. The booking process was incredibly smooth. I experienced no wait time whatsoever and was welcomed warmly from the moment I stepped in. Morgan did my bleaching and coloring and Liz did my styling. The top quality training and knowledge Posh has provided to these ladies is so evident in their work. Morgan and Liz executed the vision I had flawlessly. I was speechless from happiness when I saw the final results. I have red hair. I guess I should say FAKE red hair, and all of you fake gingers out there know, red hair is very difficult to maintain. . I had a business trip coming up and needed to get "re-gingered" and decided to try this salon because I liked the idea of being "posh". Their logo is also a simple pink background with the word "posh" in small cream colored letters (in a simple typeface-century schoolbook, i think). Call me crazy, but I have a thing for logos. If the salon has a name that ends in "z" or had a logo that looks like it was happenin' in 1982, I tend to stay away. Simple and classy--LIKE ME! that's what I like. I was lucky enough to have Abby as my hair stylist. She was an amazing colorist. She helped me get mah ginger on, and added blonde highlights, and a nice cut to boot. For everything--shampoo, cut, color, highlights, styling- I paid $80. $80 is an unbelievable price, considering that i have paid 3 times that at the reputable Pittsburgh salons. If you are paying with a credit card, bring cash for the tip. You can't add your tip to the credit card. read more

I didn't even want to give this place a singular star but you have to in order to post a review. This hair salon is absolute ass. My best friend with beautifully long hair went in to get her hair fixed after she did a self balayage ( which she did a fairly good job on ) and asked for the red to be removed from her hair. The hair dresser not only made her hair red along with multiple other colors but cut of 3 inches of her hair after my best friend said she could take off half an inch MAX after the hair dresser REPEATEDLY ASKED, AFTER SHE SAID NO IN THE FIRST PLACE. They completely fucked up her hair and it costed her $200. She later called and asked for a refund and the bitch of a manager refused to refund her or offer her anything for her trouble. NEVER GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT THESE MORONS TO FUCK UP YOUR HAIR!! read more

I started going to Posh last year when I was tired of driving to Shadyside to get my hair cut and colored. I've been seeing Jen every 5-6 weeks and she does an amazing job. I cannot recommend Posh enough as a top-flight salon with stylists who are well-trained and actually listen to what the customer wants. I have appreciated the suggestions from my stylist/colorist as to what will be the most flattering (and thank you for helping me walk through my very dated idea of my last style request!). I was NOT impressed with this salon at all. The girl was nice and everything like that, but did an awful job cutting my hair. I litetally could not even tell she cut it, nor could my husband or friends. I kept asking her to cut more and she was getting snippy with me and kept looking at the clock because i was the last appointment. If I just had to rate my stylist, I'd give her five stars. But I wish I could transplant her someplace else. She is very nice and very skilled. However, I'm overweight and I've noticed that the other people who work there look at me like I'm something the cat dragged in. If you're looking for a place where you can trust the stylists...look no further. This is the kind of place where you sit down and say, "do whatever you like." I have been going here for some time now (3 yrs) and whether Abby, Jen, Cara, Kristin or Lisa Martin (the owner) help you out, you are in for a treat. There are others that are just as capable, I'm sure, but the ladies above have helped me out at one time or another. Great atmosphere vibrant and hip...they offer you water, tea, coffee or wine. The haircuts are great and they are eager to please. Lisa is typically very very busy so it is not unusual to book 1-2 months in advance. This place is so overpriced and awful it doesn't even deserve a whole 1 star. The 1st and only time I went here it was a disaster. It started off pretty nice and welcoming even including the girl doing my hair. However, once I started telling her what I wanted done and even showed her a picture she seemed like she knew what I was talking about. She then asked me if I wanted my hair styled, meaning if I wanted my hair DRIED??? I looked at her with an odd look and asked if I didn't want my hair "styled" then what would happen. She proceeds to tell me if not then I would have to go out of the salon with my hair WET! or I can do it myself.. here. Nicole, the girl that did my hair, tells me it'll be $30 more (or whatever the price) if I wanted it styled..? So I ended up sitting right beside her and "styling" my hair myself. Not only that but, my hair costed almost $200 for it not to even look like I had highlights in my hair. Not to mention, at the time, my hair was an inch past my shoulders. I literally had to pull half of my hair up to even see that I paid out of the butt for highlights!! I don't know how anyone even continuously comes here. I've been going to this salon for a good bit of time now, and sometimes my cut/color turns out great, but other times its rushed and sub-par. Go to Taylor, she's great! There are a few stylists I rotate between, but she's the only one that really takes her good, quality time. It's awesome that you can get wine or a beer while you're there... Assuming the lady at the front desk isn't rude to you. She's quite unpleasant and on TWO separate occasions must not have put my appointment in the book, because when I showed up for it, she sent me packing. Mixed feelings about this place. read more
