When I told her about my TMJ flare up, she was very responsive. My massage was amazing! She was truly knowledgeable, open to feedback, and made me feel relaxed. However, it turned out to be a rather disappointing experience. First of all, the walls were so thin I could hear every conversation had throughout the building, which made it very hard to relax. Secondly, I thought a steamer would be used, but warm towels were used instead. When she asked me what type of face mask I wanted, I wasn't sure of my choices. The only choice she gave me was the hydrating mask, so that's the one I ended up going with due to my lack of knowledge. While the mask was on, she was on her phone right behind me. It was super awkward... I definitely wish they would leave the room while the mask is setting! My skin felt great afterward, but the entire experience was uncomfortable, and it was so hard to relax! Dana opens the waiting room 10 minutes before your appointment time so you can fill out basic paperwork regarding your medical history and skin goals. Then you talk to make sure you're on the same page. The session itself starts and ends with a short deep breathing exercise, helping you center yourself and focus. Everything felt so blissful and relaxing that I drifted off several times, and kept having to bring myself back from the mini dreams I was slipping into as I didn't want to miss the experience! The facial massage especially was wonderful, and a helpful starting point toward my skin goals. I think what I most appreciated is that when we discussed my typical skin care routine, which is incredibly low maintenance and a bit directionless right now, Dana could not have been kinder or more judgment free. Her other advice was to wake up and hydrate my skin in the morning with a splash of cold water. Seriously, free cold water.
