Pepper-Pepperoni Seal of Approval We have been bringing our dog Pepper-Pepperoni here for three years - and he LOVES it! He is a large black lab with no identifying markings. What amazes me is they know immediately who he is, I never have to tell any staff his name, they recognize him right away and are genuinely happy to see him. This is with non-regular attendance, so it really shows me they have taken the time to know my dog. Also, anytime I need a nail trim or a bath for our 100lb lab, they take care of it no problem. My dog loves it here and comes home happy and tired after a day at daycare. I am one of 'those' dog moms and I can assure you, this is a wonderful place to bring your dog. Don't DELETE OR BLOCK my review!!!!! Is it how you guys solve the problem?????? I brought my dog to a daycare, and he sustained an injury during his stay, which I discovered upon picking him up. Despite the incident, I did not request a refund for the day or any compensation at the time. I only inquire about the details of what occurred and ask them to pay attention this will not happened again. However, the daycare refused to provide video and claimed that my dog had been aggressive with other dogs, potentially causing the injury himself. They cited the waiver I had signed before his stay as grounds for refusing responsibility, asserting that it absolved them of any liability for my dog's injuries. My dog was never been aggressive at any dogs, he is excited but never try to bit others or fight with others. After that I was pushing him to go back, and he react panic immediately when we approached and opened the door of this daycare. He did not really want to go in anymore. The operating manager mentioned that they did not refuse my dog from returning, even if they point my dog is aggressive to the others. Is that fine for the other dog owners? Are they feel safe to take their dogs to this daycare? Additionally, I am puzzled by the suggestion to transfer my pass to a story credit and spend it on your store's dog food. Could you please clarify the reasoning behind this proposal, especially given that my primary concern is my dog's safety and well-being rather than purchasing dog food? I am puzzled by the negative reviews. Our dog Walter loves going and the staff are so good to him. We have never had an issue and have been going for 6 years with Walter and then three years with our prior dog Maggie before she passed. Definitely need to do an update, since my last review was over 5 years ago and I have been using their services regularly since then. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Posh. I see a few negative reviews from a couple of years ago, and those are very troubling. I can only speak of my personal experience and I say, without any doubt, that I trust the staff here with my dogs 100%. I don't have a single hesitation or concern. They care for my dogs as if they were their own while they're there. I dropped them off for daycare this morning and the staff member was genuinely happy to see them. They get to know the dogs and I can't tell you how much I appreciate the care they give. they recently moved into a new building, a little further south from where they were. This location is even easier to get to and there is so much space for the dogs! The outside area is amazing. Have I mentioned how much I (and more importantly, my dogs) love Posh? read more

I've been (or rather my dog has been) to several places in the city for doggie daycare. This place is the best! Sometimes my dog is shy going in -- we think though that it's not because she's not happy to be there, but because the door she has to go through is big and white and scary to her ... They host Sunday dogwalks every few weeks, so you can get to know the other dogs and the other owners. You have the option of having your dogs' claws trimmed, having your dog bathed, having your dog put on the treadmill for fifteen minutes, or having an infrared session for the older puppy who wants some happier joints. The people working there are solid reliable people, always the same (ie., they're staying put, which means they're paid well enough and happy), and always kind and helpful. There's also the ability to board your dogs. There's also a few bags of food available for sale (the brand we buy, even -- an Alberta-based brand!), as well as some cute dog coats, a few leashes, and the always-needed doggie poop bags. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! Their website says outdoor access, the outdoor area is a 10 foot fake grass area that the dogs have access to maybe 3 times a day for a max of 10 minutes. If your dog is boarding and pees in its room it will not get a bed for the rest of its stay and had to stay on Faeces filled concrete floor. If your dog is to hyper they hook its leash up to a treadmill and run them till they sleep, and don't even get me started on the excess force used to control the 50+ large dogs, the manager kari trains her employees not to use alternative measures like the air horns or many spray bottles sitting around but instead trains them to drag grown animals by the scruff and even flip them over into a hog roping position. I have seen all this first hand please if you even consider bringing your dog here take a look at the back of the building at the outdoor area the treadmill ex.... this place is so cruel to the dogs leaving them shaking in corners covered in pee and traumatized when returning to home..... read more

Posh Pooch is thee best, I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else. My dog has been going at least once a week for over two years and there is nothing bad to be said about the facility or the staff. From day one the staff has been friendly and helpful. My dog is a Yorkie X and was very tiny as a puppy, the staff took extra good care of him until he was confident enough to play with the other pups. Unlike some other daycares that I have had experience with- Posh Pooch has viewing windows and takes you on a tour so you know exactly where your dog is spending time. They have gone above and beyond for both my pup and I. They also offer baths (complete with a cute little tie), infrared and a run on the treadmill. My pup always comes home happy and exhausted...happy dog = happy owner! read more

I have been taking my dog Mya to posh pooch for both daycare and overnight boarding for nearly 3 years. I love these people as much as they love my dog. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and find ways to make the dogs and owners feel special. My dog loves it! One mention of 'posh pooch' in my house makes her bounce off the walls. After a few less-than-stellar experiences with another boarding place in Edmonton, we decided to try Posh Pooch. Not only is it more convenient of a location, the staff seemed much more intent on working with a reasonable number of dogs, and could provide much more appropriate attention. Furthermore, the baths they receive at the end of their stay are quite clearly a higher quality than they've received elsewhere, and the neck ties they're wearing when we pick them up are a very cute touch. Additionally, they've been willing to accommodate us at the drop of a hat when my wife went into labour. So far, we've been very impressed with Posh Pooch, after 3-4 stays of our dogs there. read more

Great care provided for our 2 large fur-babies. Dogs are happy to see staff and leave us - great!and always come home still smelling clean - also great! Our dogs are gentle and have never had a bad experience with other dogs at posh. Staff are also super friendly and helpful to us - really appreciate the care. I was about to undertake massive surgery, and needed to put my dog somewhere. My dog stayed here for a few days, and when I was all cleared up, I returned home from the hospital. That night, my partner brought our dog home, and then, our dog proceeded to defecate blood and diarrhea on our kitchen floor, and puke all over our sofa. He has never done this. Because I was post-surgery, I was very weak, and yet my partner, instead of helping me, had to drive to an emergency vet hospital and fork over hundreds of dollars to contain his diarrhea and vomit. The vet doctor said the dog had trauma from going to this place. Never again will I bring my pet here. Something awful happened to my dog, and needless to say, this made my post-operation time more traumatic. read more

This was our first city kennel experience and it was excellent. We had previously left our dog at a rural kennel. The atmosphere at Posh Pooch was clean and welcoming -- the area where the dogs hang out together was kept tidy and I appreciate being able to see it through the windows in the front reception. The required pre-assessment offered some peace of mind that our friendly dog wouldn't be left cowering in the corner because of another aggressive dog. I appreciate the schedule of play time and rest time -- this is closer to how my dog is at home. When we picked up our dog, he was excited to see us but he was also bright, comfortable in the space, and smelled just fine. read more

I called Posh Pooch this evening - Jan.5/2016 to inquire about possibly introducing my puppy to the facility for an over night stay. The first "abrupt hello" I received from whomever woman answered the phone seemed off putting right from the tone in her voice. I proceeded to say Hello, I just have a few questions about the requirements of your over night stay regarding my puppy. I asked about vaccinations needed and informed her of his age. She gave a very direct yet unpleasant reply to my questions and then I asked if the facility had someone there over night to look over the dogs and she blunty just said NO. I felt nothing welcoming from her one of voice or how unfriendly or uncaring she came across to even want to drop by with my dog. That was enough for me. The sad part is, maybe it is a great place to go, I'm not sure but I won't be going to find out because anyone who sounds so miserable and abrupt when speaking to me about where my puppy may be staying I don't trust them with his care. We brought our dog in today for assessment as they required, the lady took him in for five minutes and came out said" he's very hyper and already started running in circles, which is not normal". He is a 10 months old puppy who is very play and non-fearful, of course you can expect him to be excited to see new friends! She also called him "not normal because he drank water from the bowl", well isn't he making himself comfortable? She said if we want to bring him here they will HAVE to put him on a treadmill for 15 minutes to calm him down with extra charge. She called him "not normal" for several times and said usually the dogs are quite shy. People have different personalities, why dogs have to be the same? I don't know how she defines "normal" but if they're not the perfect little quiet angels don't bother to bring them in. read more

Dropped my puppy here for the first time last week and I have to say the accommodations seemed very small for the amount of animals they have there. I also spoke with one of the staff members who informed me that they have no capacity limit & they can keep up to 80 dogs at a time... I didn't like that they didn't have much of exterior area for the dogs to play. My puppy seemed to be tired when I picked her up so that's great. I wouldn't recommend this place for an overnight or extended period of time. I don't mind dropping my dog here for daycare however I would say they're are many other places I'd rather take my pup. I found it convenient that they offered Acana & Origen brand kibble there too & the price was cheaper then most pet stores by $10. read more

My dog is a very picky and somewhat hyper dog. Floyd absolutely loves to go there! Daycare, boarding doesn't matter he always has a great time when he is there. Staff are super attentive and loving, its like his second home. Absolutely recommend this place. read more

My husband and I had heard great things about posh pooch and decided to take our dog there to check it out. The assessment had gone very well and we were excited to drop off our dog for his first time there. Upon picking up our dog from his first visit I had noticed his neck looked a bit swollen. I didn't think too much about it till I got home and took a closer look. His neck had gotten bitten. I called the next day inquiring about my dog, checking if he was playing rough or if they had noticed any of the other dogs were aggressive towards him. They told me he had been playing with other boxer puppies but nothing out of the ordinary. As the week passed we realized how bad he was bitten, took him to the vet to get antibiotics and emailed the manager. She seemed concerned and told us she thinks she knew which dog it was. She was very kind and gave us some free visits for our dog when he was healed up and was ok to come back. When our dog had healed up we brought him back for a second time. The staff told me that they would keep an extra eye on him as they knew the other dog that had bit my dog would be there. When my husband went to go pick up our dog, he was scratched and bleeding! Now, I get that dogs can play rough sometimes, puppies have sharp teeth and no boundaries when they are little but as a paying customer who is supposed to be able to trust that my pet is taken care of, they did NOT even come close to doing so. When my husband emailed the manager the second time, she didn't seem that concerned. She also told my husband that she thought the scratches were already there. As a responsible pet owner, if my dog still had open wounds, I would not be bringing him in again if he was still injured. Although friendly staff, I would not recommend bringing your dog here. There are WAY to many dogs and not enough staff on hand to ensure that your pet will be watched properly. read more

Very unprofessional. The girl at the front desk has one inch long fake nails which is not practical for working with animals. The "assessment" lasted less then five minutes. When she showed me around the facility, everything was clean but the girl that was working with the dogs was using a spray bottle on them as soon as they would try and interact with each other. I have worked with animas for almost 14 years and I understand that water is a method that can be used to break up a dog fight. These dogs were not fighting or showing signs of stress. If that is how they treat them when an owner is there, how do they treat them when no one is looking? read more

I have a Border Collie/Husky mix who lives in a condo with a very small yard. It's hard for my husband and me to exercise her well, especially in the winter. Posh Pooch has been very good for her! When she's been there to play, even for half a day, it helps cut down on her anxiety and keeps her from being bored all day at home. The staff is wonderful and they're always happy to see her. She starts wagging the moment she sees the building and always comes home covered in slobber and grinning, which is great for my socially awkward pup. Happy dog makes a happy household, and she's much more willing to settle down and learn with us when her brain isn't overtaken by anxiety. The packages make it more affordable and they're very accommodating for most last-minute plan changes. Know there is a 48 hour cancellation window for boarding, however, and a small charge will be made if you don't plan accordingly. read more

Worst boarding experience ever. Staff messed up our booking to start with. Sticky notes are not an organizational system if it doesn't work. Our dog got sick when in the care of posh pooch with kennel cough even though staff says all dogs have to have up to date shots...don't think that can be the case. We emailed asking how our dog was and staff never returned our message. Had to find out a day later from our emergency contact what was going on and that he had been picked up by a relative and signed out. Huge worry considering we were out of the country. After viewing the website and the reviews for Posh Pooch, we decided to board our dog for the 2015 holidays. Our poodle passed the 10 minute assessment, and we discussed the care and routine for the facility and then feeling satisfied, we paid the deposit only to find out moments later that the facility is not staffed after 9 pm. We've considered this for a while now and feel that this is unsafe for our dog; if she became distressed without barking excessively that no one would hear her or be there to handle the situation. My concern is that this information is not posted on the website, is not on the brochure and is not volunteered. When I called to cancel the reservation and to ask for my (nonrefundable) deposit back, I was told that I should have asked and that this is the first thing people ask. Really?? We have never once come across a facility that is unstaffed after 9 pm until morning. The manager was not pleasant, acted defensively and refused to refund the deposit. Anyone boarding their dog overnight should be aware. read more
