Positano is one of my favorite restaurants, it's small and cozy, to me is like being at your place enjoying a well cooked Italian meal. Positano's Ceasar Salad and Eggplant Parm are my favorites. I have been a customer for about 20 years and the staff remains the same. The staff is cordial and attentive. The restaurant is managed by the owners. Absolutely awful! Avoid this place at all costs. I ordered on the phone and they told me 20-25 mins. I arrived after 20 mins and they hadn't even STARTED my food yet. The employees were standing around with their phones in their hands, not working. There was 1 customer in the whole place. So unprofessional! read more

I am SHOCKED that I have not yet reviewed Positano, a place that my friends and I frequent when we are out on Long Island. Basically, in our group, there is one person that lives near the restaurant and introduced it to us years ago. Now, every time we travel out to visit him, we insist that he orders pizza from Positano, as we are all in awe of its deliciousness. I also once dined in the restaurant, which had a takeout pizzeria vibe in the front and a cozy, welcoming dining room in the back. For my most recent encounter with their heavenly food, I had a few slices of their Sicilian Pizza with some fresh vegetables. We had selected broccoli, mushrooms, and red and green bell peppers; each one was extremely fresh and crisp. The marinara sauce had the perfect kiss of sweetness from ripe tomatoes and hints of garlic. I am also not typically a fan of doughy, square slices, but this crust was like a focaccia bread with a crunchy bottom and fluffy top. It was definitely one of the best pizza slices I had ever had! Came here 4 Years Pl. is definitely changed the ambulance different. We came at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon on a weekday. There was one woman waitress. We waited and waited and waited before she came and the most annoying thing about the place was the loud Spanish club music that was playing very loud. This used to be an Italian restaurant. I don't know what's going on, but that was very, very annoying. The food has changed the portions are smaller than they used to be. Chicken marsala was bland. You really didn't taste any Marsala and the chicken was a little tough and the sauce seemed too thick from flour or cornstarch. They used to even give you a few zepolle as dessert at no charge that's gone. We feel terrible about this as it was my brothers favorite place before he died a few years back. So it made me sad to see Positanos change and go down hill. New owners? Less service without that Italian vibe, recipe changes and shrinkflation, as md that welcoming atmosphere not there. read more

I usually don't have breaks during work so im always picking up and going when it comes to my food. My work gives me a few minutes to cover for me before I go back to eat but I don't think I can recommend this pizza place. I call them that I'll be picking up the food at a certain time and they said "okay it takes 5 minutes." As I got there and gave them an extra few minutes for my two slices to be ready, they still did not prep or heat up the pizza. I even called them in advance and yet they still were late for the food nor have the time to make it on time. I'm on a tight schedule and can't afford to wait more than 5 minutes for them to heat up my food and prep for it. Not only that, one of my slices contained HAIR on it, this was just so disappointing.... Probably my last time I'll come back here. read more

It's a favorite place by one of our team mates and highly recommended so we agreed to hold our Christmas party here. I did not know that they have a private dining room in the back. I thought that they only have small sit down tables for walk ins. We thought the place is just for take outs. We paid a prie fix meal. It was negotiated by one of our team members prior the reservation. For what we paid, the options are lot. Foods are delicious. The serving size is huge. We had Unlimited drinks and desserts. To top it all, the service provided was superb. We started at 3 pm and ended at past 6. We were not pushed away while we were enjoying our time. It was very considerate of the staff. Spaghetti pescatore was nice, bit on the salty side but can taste the dish The bad: the Spaghetti with meat sauce was salty and the sauce was regrettable. Had that weird frozen meat scent. Really good food, from the pizza from the salad appetizer entrée pasta seafood, I have not had one bad dish here. In the past two decades, I've been eating here I've actually eaten in dining maybe eight times and take out a few dozen times. it would've been more than a few dozen takeouts only if their foods are less salty. I enjoy their food 100% every time, two hours later I'm drinking lots of water. I still love the food, if less salty, I would eat here more often! It is a cozy place back in the dining area and they have several tables up in the front for more casual. Service is always good. If not, you can bring it up and they'll fix it for you. They are really generous with their bread, they load up fresh rolls and garlic breads for you and they are really good! Very happy they are here! I don't like they charge 3.5% credit fee! read more

From the minute you enter this restaurant, till the time you get your check, everything is perfect. The owner comes over to introduce himself, the waiter brings over a pitcher of water, hot assorted bread with butter, a choice of 2 soups, a side salad with a choice of dressings, then a very large selection of your favorite foods. Hero's, pastas, assorted hot delicious dishes. Afterwards you get a drink, and the best part ( my opinion) is the variety of desserts. I highly recommend you giving this restaurant a try. read more

Haven't been back to Positano in many months Was in the area and suggested to my friend to go . Homerun !! Portions are huge, we shared the. Chicken parm and gnocci in a pink sauce with mushrooms and onions and chicken. The gnocci are homemade, no frozen here . The gnocci are probably the best I have had. They are pillowy soft trust me if you go order the Gnocci .They will make them in any sauce you want. I usually get them in a Vodka sauce. Let me start by saying that the staff is wonderful. The Food is very good, the veal sorrentino is delicious. The waiters are amazing very polite, very attentive and knowledgeable about their menu. Prices are very reasonable. The appetizers calamari, stuffed mushrooms, and baked clams were great. The wine is good and the desserts were delicious. We had a party of 14 people and everyone loved it. All the food came out quickly and was amazing. They served zeppolies and fresh strawberries...so good, the cheese cake delicious, Tartufo so nice and lemon cake, reminds me of being in Positano Italy. The kids and I dropped into Positano Ristorante Pizza for a quick lunch before getting some haircuts. This is located in a small shopping center anchored by an Hmart. Ambience: walking in, one is reminded of all the other small pizzerias in NY. The front half is the self serve "pizzeria" while the back is a.sit down full service dining. The pizzas on display were much less in quantity than most other places, but that can be a good thing, as any topping you ask for will be freshly added. The dining room for the pizzeria was a little small, as my little crew of kids ended up taking a third of the seats. Food: As is the case with most single slice pizzerias, most of the pizzas are pre-made and slices are re-heated in the oven for a few minutes. We had eaten there years ago, so we went back. The tomato sauce was like Campbell's Tomato Soup. When i asked if they had Bolenese sauce, it looked like loose ground beef mixed with the tomato sauce. At the barest minimum, a 40+year old Italian restaurant should have mastered tomato sauce. On the way out, i mention this someone purported to be the manager. He told me to "go make it yourself". I said I can and do make tomato sauce. He told me to get some and bring it back. The rest of the food tasted like microwave. This is not the Positano's i remember. Halfway thru the meal, the waitress went home and left the bus boy to deal with us. So in conclusion, if you like lousy Italian with a fresh mouth for management, than go to Positano's. Local Italian restaurant serving pizza and pastas to go but also having a nice dining room in the back. I've taken out both pastas and pizza with pasta being better than the pizza in my opinion. The spaghetti and meatballs were a good portion and tasted pretty good. Plenty of clams in their linguini with white sauce also. Finally always enjoy the bread they provide, with the extra pizza bread or garlic bread. Very good for local pizza spot. read more

Poor customer service, was solicited outside by an employee that they were open til 10 (it was 9). We go in and order two slices, they were left in the oven too long and burnt. Another employee said they were closing at 9:20, when we hadn't gotten our slices yet. Very uncomfortable experience and pizza was awful. Will not return. read more

Positano is consistent when it comes to food quality. That's not even an understatement. They have one of the best Sicilian pies in the area (if not THE best). Their round pie isn't even in the same league. What stands out is their Italian food. If you only think of them as a pizzeria you should have dinner in the back at some point. The sauce is like crack and I would drink it if I could. The staff is old school and treat guests like a local place should. Everyone from the host, servers and bus staff and top flight. The dining room doesn't look like much but that shouldn't deter anyone from eating here. Their lasagna is the best in this area, bar none. In this instance I had veal parmigiana with a side of ziti. Someone near me had the veal chop covered with diced tomato. It looked incredible. In terms of portion sizes, I defy anyone to finish their entree let alone leave hungry. Mama Theresa's isn't far away and their food is also exceptional with a deeper menu. Still, Positano's food is a notch above theirs and is better than Umberto's which is living on reputation alone by now. Frantoni's is walking distance in East Williston and they have a better round pie but Positano is the consummate neighborhood Italian restaurant with a pizzeria in front. Great value and plenty of parking. Every time I eat here or take out from here I'm never disappointed. read more

We are from Great Neck and were hosting a party for 45 to 50 people in our home that we wanted to have catered. A relative had been using Positano for years to cater holidays and parties at his home and recommended Positano to us. We had eaten the food at these events and decided to try catering from them. My wife and I went to Positano and met with Carlo who turned out to be extremely knowledgeable about catering for large parties. He was extremely helpful with both selecting an excellent variety of foods, many of which we would not have thought to order on our own and recommending the appropriate amounts for a party of our size. His suggestions were perfect. He arranged for free delivery of first horderves, two hours before a later delivery of the main courses. Both of which arrived on time and hot. He also provided a sufficient amount of sterno to keep the trays hot throughout the event. The food was delicious and all of our guests enjoyed both the quality and variety of the food. The amount of food that Carlo suggested turned out to be perfect. All in all Positano provided a perfect catering experience. The food turned out to be so good that my wife and I have chosen this restaurant as our new Italian restaurant of choice. Thank you Positano and and thanks Carlo! read more

The place has been consistent in preparing food for their customers. It's getting better and tastier! I've been here a few times but Hubby has been coming here regularly with his friend and sometimes here just to order for our dinner at home. Today we decided to have lunch with Mommy here. She had the best tilapia with broccoli. I tried some, to confirm her opinion, it was excellent! Hubby ordered mussels in red sauce. We usually think mussels work better in the white sauce but for some reason, their tomato sauce was so delicious. I recommend this dish. I had grilled chicken with broccoli rabe. Loved my vegetable. Hubby also ordered eggplant parmesan. The lunch special serves with soup, salad, and dessert. With the type of lunch special, what could go wrong? I suggest you hit the road and come and try the lunch special to prove me wrong. I assure you will come back for more! Another favorite dish that I love from this place is seafood pasta. They are generous with the seafood. We had cheesecake, raspberry tart and tiramisu for desserts. Woohoo! I liked the cheesecake because it wasn't too sweet. The coffee's the best here. I want their coffee recipe! Which soil? What bean? So good!!! Btw, the service was very good! Everyone works hard here. I also like the idea to be able to see the Chef cooking. This is one of our go-to spots in Long Island for delicious New York style pizza. I love my pizza thin-crust and they manage to get it to a thinness level that doesn't take you to Florence, Italy but keeps you within New York. It's always baked to the right crispness with enough cheese and tomato sauce. Their garlic knots are also pretty good. We typically get a few slices with some garlic knots and are set for lunch. My other half also orders their chicken parm sub, which I haven't tried yet, but based on how much he finishes my guess is it's as delicious as their pizza. read more

Positano Ristorante & Pizzeria tucked away in Williston Park has been there since 1996. What a gem. Upon entrance you think you are walking into your neighborhood pizzeria. Then you look straight back and you are transformed into Positano Italy. Upon being seated you are offered a beverage and  a basket full of homemade focaccia and rolls. The menu is extensive with so many choices of fresh Italian dishes. The appetizers are amazing. they are all cooked fresh to order. I ordered and had a fruity cosmopolitan made special for me. It was just delicious and refreshing.The calamari came out fresh hot and tender. Served with a spicy marinara sauce, this hands down was the finest calamari I have had. in a very long time. It was so tender that you knew it was freshly made. The mozzarella sticks had such a cheese pull that we laughed at how long it was. The potato croquettes were pillowy light and fluffy. The rice balls were tender and flavorful.The tricolor salad was a showstopper with arugula, tomato, red onion, cucumber, orange segments and mozzarella balls, tossed in a fantastic balsamic dressing was amazing. The choices of pasta dishes were many. I had the Fettuccine Carbonara in a creme sauce, loaded with onion bacon. It was luscious. the Farfalle Boscaiolla with chicken, peas, mushrooms and onions in a creamy pink sauce was just divine. The Chicken Sorrentino was layered with eggplant, prosciutto and mozzarella in a light wine sauce was fabulous. The Chicken Verde was stuffed with fresh broccoli, prosciutto and cheese was glorious. The showstopper of the meal was the dessert platter. Tire Mi Su, Cannoli, American and Italian Cheesecake was over the top. Flavorful, rich and luxurious, I could go back just for the desserts. Positano Ristorante & Pizzeria is in a shopping center in Williston Park, NY. When you enter, you are introduced to the pizzeria. Then as you look up and see the restaurant, it is just lovely. With beautiful warm tones of brown and beiges, it is charming. You feel as if you were sitting in a villa in Italy. The lighting is is lovely and the music is easy listening. The service was outstanding. Every staff member was friendly and many have been there from opening day.  We were fortunate to meet the owners. They are the loveliest of people. The pride they have in the food that they offer is very apparent. I must say they are so accommodating and accomplished in this industry.  I had the opportunity to learn the background of some of their special dishes. Positano Ristorante & Pizzeria is a fabulous Italian restaurant. The food is fresh and made to order. I always rate an Italian restaurant by its sauce. Their sauce  was definitely delicious.  There is  a full service bar and many different varieties of wine and beer. The pizzeria is fantastic with many different  of toppings. I feel pretty positive about Positano. Although I only had take out/delivery from this place all the food I have tried has been top quality, fresh and delicious. Their veal chops from the grill are these Flintstone sized tender cuts that just melt in your mouth, juicy, with a great grilled flavor. The broccoli rabe is cooked perfectly, never bitter, sauteed in a sauce of EEVO, broth and browned garlic - my favorite side. I enjoyed the baked clams from here. The tricolor salad has radicchio, endive and arugula - a perfect mix of salad! The meals usually come with two types of bread - garlicky breadsticks made out of what seems like pizza dough which are good, but I really love their rolls that are almost croissant like with all these tender layers, but without butter and a thicker, crispy outside. They give so many and it's perfect for freezing because they reheat well. I know Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen on LI, there are just so many pizzerias and restaurants where you can get all your red sauce favorites, but I believe Positano is better than your average joint and worth a visit when the mood for good quality Italian food strikes! read more

I figured I'd try this location again, as friend of mine came into town a few weeks ago. This was a favorite location of his, and he requested to come here. The food, I feel as if it wasn't what it was. The last time I felt the food was still excellent, but now? It has changed. We each had a salad for an appetizer, as it came with our orders for dinner. It's hard to mess up any salad, so it was fine. We both had veal parmigiana, and i wasn't a fan of it. It was very tough, which is not normal with veal. There was a ton of sauce on the veal too, and besides being tough, it was a bit mushy too. The waiter, who's still there, doesn't fully belong to work as a waiter. I see him on the phone, not being of full service, and he doesn't care to his tables like any waiter should. Previously, I was angered over the foul language, and that hasn't changed. We didn't have dessert, or coffee, as we were both looking to rush out of there ASAP. I will never return here again, I attempted a second chance after the awful incident I had the last time, but it is not worth the time. It's really a shame, considering how wonderful this restaurant used to be, and unfortunately it has completely changed. read more
