I haven't been to Gino's since their old location, over 16 years ago. Growing up it was my favorite spot to have pizza. Stopped by one day after work and decided on 2 regular slices. Paid and waited as they reheated the pizza. The place is clean and spacious. Nice lighting. The first bite of my pizza took me back to a child/teenager. It was AMAZING! Dinner indoors here on a Sunday night. We were the only customers. Our baked clams were chopped clams with mushy bread crumbs. My dish of zucchini, spinach and sauteed shrimp with a slab of chicken breast was so so. The chicken filet wasn't bad but not something I would order again. I live pretty close by Cafe Gino's in Westbury and have been here 2-3 times for pizza over the past year. The place is pretty well lit and spacious, with a bunch of tables for casual eating and more on the other side for table service. It's definitely more modern looking and clean feeling than Alfredo's down the road. However, I have to say that the pizza I've had there has been pretty poor by typical Long Island standards. I came in recently with a friend and got a buffalo chicken slice and Sicilian slice. Along with a soda, the meal came out to around $10 (sorry, can't remember the exact amount). The pizza was pretty bad though. Maybe it was because we came in the late evening on a Sunday night, but even then I'd expect a lot better. If you look at my picture, you can see that my buffalo chicken slice doesn't have many pieces of chicken on it at all. A good slice should be covered with chicken in my book. It thus wasn't very filling as well. The Sicilian slice tasted a bit stale and also wasn't very thick. So I was still hungry after I finished. Thus I was disappointed by my visit to Cafe Gino's. For what you get, it is expensive and the quality is lacking. It isn't an utter horror show to warrant a one star rating, but it could be much, much better. read more

Stopped by this place literally minutes after going to Toskana Pizzeria, which is just a few blocks south. Tale of the tape: Garlic Knots Contrary to the other reviews for this place, they do have garlic knots here. Perhaps garlic sticks are served if you dine in. At any rate the dough is somewhat light, but so is the garlic flavor. Just like at Toskano, they need to step up their garlic game, on a menu item that has garlic in its name! Penne ala Vodka Slice I was unable to get a cup of vodka sauce, as I was told it was made to order, but they did have almost a whole pie of penne ala vodka left in the case. What struck me first was how crispy the crust was - that crisp was done proper, as was the cheese atop the penne. However, the vodka sauce itself was in somewhat short supply. A bit more would have made for a better taste experience. From what I could tell, the vodka sauce itself was a little bit above ok. It had some flavor, but in my opinion it could have a bit more. If it had the flavor to match the crispiness of the crust, it would have been an amazing, wining combination. read more

Standard pizza spot on Post Ave. I heard they only moved into this new space recently and it shows. Very clean, beautifully decorated. Staff is friendly. They don't offer much besides the classics when it comes to pizza but the pizza they do offer is very good. Slices came out quick and were extremely greasy and room temp. even though they just came from the oven? Unsure if they were having oven issues that day but the pizza was still delicious (I'll even eat cold pizza). They don't have garlic knots but instead have garlic sticks which were ice cold and had no garlic taste whatsoever. I would come back here again just for pizza but would make sure it's hot next time if they're offering to put it in the oven. The flavor is there, the temperature is not. read more

Average pizza at the highest prices I've ever paid anywhere on the Island or in Queens. Seven dollars for two slices. I thought I didnt hear the counter man correctly. Their info states that they're open unti 10:30. I arrived at 8:40 pm and they were closing. I wasn't impressed with their customer service either. Another couple arrived, observed staff and staff's family members sitting/hanging out at tables, asked if they could have dinner, told "no". Asked if they could sit at larger table to eat whatever pizza was still available, told "no". Another employee was vacuuming floor in front of counter right between the counter and the couple as they were trying to talk and order from counter-man. There is an area with small tables for pizza and larger tables set up for dining. I will say it is a very nice looking and clean establishment. The two slices I had were plain and fairly bland. My dance recital was at the S.P.A.C.E, and we went to Cafe Gino's for lunch, with my family and one other family we knew. We were waiting on line for a while. When it was finally our turn, we ordered our pizza and we waited soooo long. My sister and I sat at a table of two, and we started eating our pizza. Suddenly, one of the older workers comes to us and yells at us to move for no reason. Since I was 10 and my sister was 9, I thought it was very inappropriate for him to yell at children the way he did. Eventually, my mother came over and got upset with the man. He physically pushed my mom and my mom went ballistic. We had a horrible experience there. Their waiters were not great- especially the one we had to deal with. The food was okay. I have been going to Gino's for over 20 years, since it was a hole in the wall Pizza joint and the pizza has always been consistently delicious; the BEST in Westbury and quite possibly all of Long Island. When they moved into larger space and offered more of a selection, more deliciousness followed. This place cannot be beat when it comes to the pizza. I've been getting pizza from Gino's since I was in middle school- I am 30 now. I've been going here since the owners twins worked here- which means I'm pretty loyal. Stopped here with friends before going to The Space for a concert. Arrived at 6:30 and ordered 3 pasta dishes and a talapia dinner. After 1/2 hour started asking the waitress where the food was. Her stock answer was: its coming right out. After 45 minutes she said the delay was due to the fish order. Who cooks fish for 45 minutes? At 7:40, I spoke to the owner who apologized and said the waitress lost the order. A little honesty on the part of the waitress would have allowed us to order a pizza and a salad and still be able to eat. He also said the food was coming right out. At 7:50, I told the owner we were leaving. Suddenly the food appeared! Said we didn't want it but the owner attempted to make it right by boxing it up and giving it to us, no charge. The server did not wear gloves. He was touching things then the pizza. Most importantly, they don't have trays so if you're staying, you have to make multiple trips to the counter for your food purchase. I placed an order and was told that it would be 20 minutes. At 15 minutes the Incompetent counter person who took my order said that my order was ready. BUT it wasn't. Only part of it was. So that I patiently waited another 10 minutes and then asked where my order was. I was told that the pizza that I was clearly told was ready WAS NOT. The balance of my order wasn't ready but my pizza was getting cold. When I questioned the whole situation I was told to sit down and wait. This is totally unacceptable.
