In the midst in life we tend to forget to take care of our mental health and not till I was 23 I…read moredidn't realize how much its so important to take care of ourselves mentally because that's what impacts the most of what we do in our day to day lives. I was really going through a hard breakup and felt continuously anxious, worried, and depressed. I started to lose interest in the things I love doing such as dancing, hanging out with friends, adventuring, etc. My mental health was so bad, my focus at work was deteriorating and all I wanted to do is just sleep at home. So my best friend recommended Hawaii Counseling and Wellness Center because she was going through a lot of personal issues too. She recommended Coren Kajioka so I gave it a chance and called their office to schedule the appointment. The office is located on the 15th floor at room #1510 so then I arrived there, the receptionist were very friendly and welcoming, quiet atmosphere, and there is coffee and tea for you to enjoy. They accept HMSA, UHA, HMAA, and plans with "out of network". My experience here was very helpful and I felt that my issues were addressed and Kajioka gave me the proper steps to help better myself as a person. He made me feel that my feelings are valid and I feel very valued. There is nothing wrong with going to therapy and I feel that its very beneficial to your life :) I really recommend this place so give it a try^^

My son was referred for evaluation due to behavioral concerns and possible autism spectrum-related…read moresymptoms. Given the nature of the referral, I expected a child-centered, trauma-informed, and developmentally appropriate approach. Unfortunately, the care provided during this appointment fell significantly short of those expectations. During the session, a young female assistant took my son into a testing room. From the beginning, her approach lacked the patience, flexibility, and professionalism required when working with young children--especially those with behavioral or developmental challenges. As my son became increasingly frustrated and resistant to the tasks, no meaningful effort was made to de-escalate the situation. He was not offered enough breaks, nor were the testing methods adapted to meet his needs. Instead, the assistant made inappropriate comparative remarks, including stating that "a 10-year-old before you could do it." This comment was not developmentally appropriate and only heightened my son's frustration. As his distress escalated, my son became dysregulated and began hitting himself. At that point, the assistant abruptly left the room. She then went into the lobby and, in front of other patients and families, stated that she "would not be alone with him when he is self-harming himself." This public disclosure was alarming and appeared to be a clear breach of patient confidentiality and privacy. Additionally, the assistant displayed visible frustration and used an angry tone, stating, "I'm just trying to do my job," before again leaving the session. Her responses escalated the situation rather than supporting my child. A second female neuropsychologist later entered the room. During her interaction, she told my son that she had his teachers' phone numbers and would call them to report that he could not complete the testing. This statement felt inappropriate and potentially coercive, rather than supportive or therapeutic. At another point, a male neuropsychologist stated that unless my son was more medicated, they would not be able to assess him accurately. This comment was concerning and raised questions about the objectivity and approach of the evaluation process. Overall, this experience reflected a lack of appropriate behavioral support strategies, poor professional communication, and concerning handling of a vulnerable child. The apparent breach of confidentiality, combined with the absence of trauma-informed care, raises serious concerns about staff training, clinical standards, and oversight. Also after this horrible experience Dr Song called me and emailed me several times to try and make excuses for her staff claiming that her staff has past trauma issues and mentioning other patients that have left them bad reviews in an attempt to excuse the behavior and to get me to remove my review. This place is a scam they are extremely unprofessional and clearly can not take accountability for their poor service. Parents do not send your children here go anywhere else.
