Daniel was such a friendly, energetic server who could answer almost every question we had. Chef Alex's trio of Bavarian meats was easily the best dish I had in the entire trip, and the duck was mighty impressive too! The Prince's unfiltered beer was also the best beer on our entire trip as well! It has a creamy taste, unlike the citrus bite that many weissbiers tend to have, and we ordered a few rounds, to say the least! The ambiance was nothing short of magical. At the end of the night, Daniel even called us a cab to take us back to the Geltendorf train station. My girlfriend and I would happily come again from America to experience this wonderful hidden gem in Germany! Some things are better off the beaten path, and Kaltenberg is a prime example. The prince should be proud! What an amazing experience!

Our lunch started with Spargelcremesuppe (it's asparagus season!) and it was really good, with large chunks of asparagus. Afterwards I picked the Bavarian plate. It consisted of Käsespätzle, pork medallions in a brown sauce and a mix of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. The Spätzle were incredible, the rest was so-so. All in all this was a great experience for an unpretentious restaurant in the middle of nowhere.

Denn Steffen hat seine Kindheit auf einem Hof in Vizzola in Italien verbracht. Er schuf für sich und seine Familie mit dem Büffelhof, zu dem auch ein Stüberl und ein Hofladen gehört, ein Zuhause. Es ist fast ein Wink des Schicksals was dann passiert. Der Sohn Valentin lernt in der Berufsschule Amelie und Vuong kennen. Sie arbeiten in ganz unterschiedlichen Betrieben, aber die Chemie stimmt. Bei ein paar Flaschen Wein kommen sie auf die Idee gemeinsam etwas aufzubauen und gründen "the Valvs". Sie sind wie eine Band, nur machen sie keine Musik, sondern richtig gutes Essen. Alle sind sie gastrobegeistert, doch jeder kommt aus einem anderen Kontext und so bringt jeder eine individuelle Note mit. Es entsteht ein geschmackliches Intermezzo, das überrascht und begeistert.
