STAY AWAY AT ALL COST! POSTNET IS A DISEASED CANCER THAT NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE DOWNTOWN JERSEY CITY BUSINESS ROSTER. This is my experience with POSTNET. A week ago I am working with my Tax Person and she explains to me that I have two options for sending out some tax information, I can either go to the Post Office on Montgomery St. or, if I did not want to walk that distance I could go to POSTNET, however, she did warn me that this establishment is exorbitantly expensive. I decide to use POSTNET because how expensive could three letters cost. I walk over to POSTNET and I say hello, and the OLDER HISPANIC WOMAN WITH PAINTED ON EYEBROWS AND SHORT WHITE HAIR looks me over up-and-down and without even acknowledging my hello, looks back at her computer screen and continues doing whatever she is doing on her computer. (This behavior should have been my first clue to walk out of POSTNET.) I put my bag down on the counter to remove my mail and then tell this woman that I would like to buy some stamps and she informs me that she needs to weigh the mail and instructs me to put it on the scale. I do as she says and after my third and final letter she tells me the PRICE OF NEARLY $10.00, I ask why is the price so high and she begins by saying "IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD IT YOU SHOULD HAVE JUST GONE TO THE POST OFFICE." I AM STUNNED! THAT IS THE RESPONSE I GET FOR ASKING WHY IS THE COST SO HIGH? I WAS WELL AWARE OF THE HIGH COST, BUT HIGHWAY ROBBERY I DID NOT AGREE TOO. At this point I tell her that they are over-charging for postage and she at this point looks me over up-and -down and says "I DID NOT LIKE YOU WHEN YOU WALKED IN." At this point I raised my voice and demanded her to repeat what she said, and then THE OTHER SHORT HISPANIC WOMAN WITH SHOULDER LENGTH BROWN HAIR (COULD BE HER DAUGHTER) DECIDES TO ATTACK ME AND SHOUTS "DO NOT SPEAK TO HER LIKE THAT." SPEAK TO HER LIKE WHAT??? ?? I SHOULD ALLOW MYSELF TO BE INSULTED BY THIS WOMAN, BY THIS BUSINESS THAT I AM GIVING MY MONEY TOO??? At this point I felt BERATED, INSULTED and ATTACKED for commenting on the fact that THREE LETTERS JUST COST ME NEARLY $10.00 for postage. At this point I am beside myself, I have no recourse because I feel that if I argue, these women seem capable of calling the police and filing a false report. I am now fearful that their behavior called into question the HONESTY of this business, I NO LONGER FELT SAFE LEAVING MY MAIL WITH THIS BUSINESS. I tell this woman that I would like to take my mail with me and she insist that since "IT HAS HER POSTAGE SHE CANNOT ALLOW ME TO TAKE MY MAIL WITH ME AND IT MUST GO OUT WITH HER BUSINESS." I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS POLICY, EVER! Since when has buying stamps at a store been a requirement for us to leave our mail with that establishment? WHEN HAS THAT BECOME A POLICY??? I decide that my next recourse is to request a refund; however this QUESTIONABLE WOMAN retorts "I WILL NOT GIVE YOU A REFUND" and proceeds to paste the postage on the letters. I NOW FEEL HOSTAGE TO THIS BUSINESS. I AM POWERLESS WITH THIS BUSINESS AND THEY HAVE QUESTIONABLE EMPLOYEES AND QUESTIONABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!!! I felt it was necessary to watch this woman put my mail in their mail basket; however that did not quell any fear of the DISHONESTY of this business because in the end I have to leave this business and these two women have MY PERSONAL TAX INFORMATION and these women and this business could very well STEAL THAT INFORMATION. The behavior of this Hispanic woman with a short white masculine haircut DOES NOT INSTILL TRUST AND RESPECT, LET ALONE PATRONAGE. The interesting part of this whole ORDEAL is that the next day I go back to my Tax Person to pick up more documents to mail and I tell her of my experience and warned her "NEVER RECOMMEND POSTNET TO ANYONE EVER AGAIN!" And as I explain to her my experience, she then chimes in "OH YES, THAT WOMAN IS NASTY AND SHE IS KNOWN TO BE A NASTY INDIVIDUAL." And agreed she would never recommend POSTNET to her customers again and would ONLY suggest the Post Office on Montgomery. Interestingly enough I walk over to the Montgomery Post office and this time and I have 6 letters of the exact same size and weight as those I mailed the prior day at POSTNET and incredibly the price came out to a little over $7.00. I dont often post reviews, in fact dont think ever posted a negative one, but what happened yesterday was shocking. I was fraudulently charged twice for the same services (my CC was on file with them) - a bank transaction from the past that came to my notice (note this has happened before at Postnet so check your account carefully- once before it was thankfully corrected) but this time maybe because the owner does not get business from me any more, refused to even acknowledge or correct his mistake and offer me a refund..He even told my assistant that he would charge $25 to look through the papers and hung up on him. We finally left the bank statement proof at his store and walked out as he didn't even have the decency to come out and check the papers. This is nothing short of outright cheating. In the past we have often had trouble with the prints as he would NEVER read the instructions in an email order. I have no idea how one can conduct a business this way. I agree with many reviews here. The lower ratings far outnumber the rest. Even though they do get your work done if you're ready to bear with their attitude, they are indeed extremely rude and I think I gave him way more business for months overlooking his rudeness than he deserves. I have nothing against the daughter (who for obvious reasons will stand up for her dad) or Marge...they have always been very nice. read more

Let me first state that this is not my first bad encounter with the owner of this place. I run a small e-commerce business where I ship UPS packages once a week. UPS.com/dropoff lists this location as my closest drop off point, so I should be able to assume they will take my package. Upon entering, I am greeted with a number of agonistic questions and comments, "is this a return... is this for personal... I will not offer any guarantee for this box, if it were stolen, it's not my fault... (Rick, the owner)." As a small business owner my self, I understand the importance of customer service and the value of maintaining a good relationship with people, if not only to preserve your RATING (e.g. yelp). Rick, sir you are failing here! Hopefully you can understand this and improve, as Jersey City is a growing/expanding/gentrifying town; you will need to adapt to stay in business. This review comes after discussing my situation with UPS. I found out that Rick's actions are not to par with UPS's standards. Rick should remove his location from UPS's suggested drop locations if he doesn't want to honor their service. read more

The owner Richard and the woman Isabel were verbally abusive, completely idi**** pair, and they are obviously nasty, ignorant and have no place in customer service. They don't answer a question, and pretend like they're going you a favor! For heavens sake, you post packages for a living. Get real! You do not deserve to be in business! Come to think of it reading how the 'owner' responds to negative reviews says a lot about how he cares about his 'business'. He lashes out at anyone who provides a negative review. One person shares a negative review they're probably mistaken or bad or wrong. Every second person does .. You're the bad guy! The filtered reviews say it all. I went in with my 15 year old daughter to have a package delivered and make some copies, and this "Rich" guy could not keep his eyes off of her chest. She hadn't noticed, so I tried to ignore it and just get my package sent out (I had already decided to skip the copies to get out of the store, not just leaving immediately was a huge mistake), but when we got to the front of the line he asked if she was looking for a boyfriend. It was then that I noticed that Rich stank of gin. I told him that she's a teenager and that he's disgusting for talking to her that way, and he said something along those lines of "it's my store and I'll speak to who I want however I want to," but with a few words that I'd rather not repeat here. This place is just wonderful. They are so nice I really can't even imagine them being mean to someone (If it happens, it's likely limited to the case where a truly belligerent and rude person storms in with a deluded sense of entitlement.) I've seen them when very busy, and watched them quickly, accurately process orders. I've visited when there were few customers, and Rich ends up pleasantly chatting with customers. I've used all manner of services here: faxing, printing, computer time, scanning, overnight mailing, tracking this or that, shipping large packages, small packages, birthday cards, basically everything. And they've always done a great job. Don't believe the negative reviews. Someone must have been having a very, very bad day. read more

I am so grateful to Richard, Margie and Essa - they save me so much time and money - don't know what I would do without them in Jersey City. Post offices are not convenient in Jersey City and to get to one is not easy. Post Net is right near the PATH and I can get everything copied (sheet music, scripts,) quickly with a few clicks and drop off mail in one stop. If you want to know anything about Jersey City - ask Richard... he grew up here and is very much a Jersey City historian. Although they are a small store - they handle lots of people with lots of needs all at once. Can't imagine my life without them. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. The customer service here is abysmal! The owner is incredibly disrespectful, and lacks any common sense when it comes to addressing his paying customers. This is made very clear by the way he responds to customer complaints-like an angry, crude preteen rather than a business man. After I dropped off a UPS package at this "ups drop off location", an extremely unfriendly homophobic owner came back harassing me across the street, throwing my UPS package in my car, yelling "tell your friend I'm not delivering his packages!" I had never seen the man in my life! Extremely unprofessional. Jersey City deserves better business and owners who will NOT discriminate. Stunned how incredibly rude and unhelpful. They seemed like I was really bothering them when I came in. I needed notary services as part of hiring requirements. Company had instructions on what they need done. Guys says "I don't read instructions. It's not worth the fee." Really said that. All he had to do was verify ID. Insane. If you go in knowing that Computers are not free, Taping your packages are not free, services that you need to have done are not free. Using printers and printing errors are not free, someone has to pay for them. He's old school and as long as you are respectful so is he.
