I like PostNet - every time I have needed something, like printing services or shipping, even passport photos - I have been able to accomplish it here. It's one of the few places in Jersey City Downtown that provides these services. It's owners are old school, and pretty serious people but I find them to be really helpful and professional. Jersey City needs a place like this and I like the idea of an original owner continuing to be able to run a business here without big box stores or commercial rents pushing them out. I am leaving a follow up review for PostNet because I feel that strongly about their business. Not only do they offer all the conveniences that you would get from a large chain, but great location, friendly staff and affordable pricing. My favorite thing is to online shop in bulk and then return what I don't need, and PostNet is always a lifesaver when I have several packages from different carriers to be sent. Went in today for the first time to print programs and menus for my wedding this weekend - I was a little nervous as I haven't used any kind of print store before and I'd obviously left it to the last minute, but Isabel was terrific. She gave me a clear explanation of what my best options would be, was very patient while I ran back to my apartment to reformat everything, and was really kind about making sure everything printed and cut just right, especially when there were some that got cut off and had to be redone. Isabel also let me use their paper cutter so I could make sure things were exactly right, which I really appreciated! So glad I went with this store as everything came out looking great at a fraction of the price it would have been if I'd had a wedding paper site do it for me. At first I thought I'd just be taking the time to express MY experience with this business and a recent incident that I had with Rich a "downtown staple of JC" but instead after reading prior reviews where he has then gone on to berate them in the reply section I do not believe my review is necessary to show why you might want to avoid this place and its owner, Rich, for he has made his character and presence very clear here.. Instead I will say this, in my previous experience there, I had a very pleasant rapport with whomever the young lady is and sometimes his wife, or at least who I assume is his wife based off the other reviewers. My last visit here, after being insulted and aggressed, was a game changer and for that I must conclude that if you desperately need to use this business then be certain that the coast is clear so Rich is not the one helping you. Nobody deserves to be judged based off of their appearance nor berated and especially by a man who has no tact. And in response to your comment Rich, there is no intention of working with or mending anything with you. I've been coming into this PostNet for years. The owners have taken the time to get to know me on a first-name basis because I frequently mail packages here. The management is friendly, kind, and professional. I have never had any negative experiences and am shocked by the negative reviews posted below. The selection of design services, shipping materials, and quality with which the management packages items (both fragile and non-fragile, both domestic and international packages) is excellent. It seems that other customers expect to get services for free (i.e. taping up boxes, etc.) as I've witnessed other customers complaining about having to pay for tape, etc. It would take more time and effort to go to Duane Reade, buy tape, buy a box, walk to the Post Office, shoddily package an item, and wait in line for 30 minutes than to have the professional and swift PostNet packaging/taping services for the cost of $1-$5 depending on the size of the package/box. You can save time and money as well as get to know a great Jersey City business if you use PostNet's services. I've been a customer for years and will continue to do so as long as I'm residing in the Jersey City area; the owners value diversity, treat customers fairly, and provide top-notch postal-related services. read more

Probably the rudest entrepreneur in the downtown Jersey City area. The owner and his wife both need an attitude adjustment. Nasty and rude all the time. Several of my friends who are creative professionals avoid his shop like the plague because of his nasty and unpleasant demeanor. The last time I had service at his shop he was so rude, I decide the spit a throat full of phlegm on the window of his store in dedication to his quality customer service. Terrible service! The owner refused to accept my DHL Express package to UK, I paid $100 for: "I'm not going to call them for this. Call them and schedule a pick-up". FYI You can't schedelule a pick-up with DHL if you don't have MyDHL account, so I had to go to another store in Jersey City Heights. read more

The business owner called me a stupid woman when I was trying to ship something. They advertise as shipping all major companies, but when walking in with one, DHL or USPS let's say, he will not take them generally "because he makes no money from it". Then called me stupid for questioning why he'd advertise as such. He has also repeatedly private messaged me harassing comments due to my review. Also, it seems he likes to lie to Yelp and say people haven't been to his store to have reviews removed. He has conspiracy theories that truly make no sense and he borders on harassment. Rich, the owner, is a class act and a service to downtown JC! I had 18 fairly large boxes to send across the country, and he was so helpful in getting it done. He stayed open late on a Sunday so I could unload the boxes. He consolidated a few of them to help save me money. I then left for vacation and he stayed in contact with me to ensure that the boxes got sent off while I was away and provided me the tracking information during my trip. I needed a quick portfolio printed, without the hassle of going into the city. The service was great. Rich, the owner was incredibly accommodating and patient with my slightly deranged requests. He was kind enough to print my entire portfolio on two types of paper, just so I could be confident with my decision and he only charged me for one. This place is solid. It's super convenient, and the owners/staff are very polite and helpful. They have all your basic shipping needs covered (boxes, envelopes, tape, pens, labels, etc). They keep open convenient hours, and are never too crowed to assist customers. They also have PO Boxes, and copy machines, and printers, and many other services. I will definitely continue to use these guys over the UPS and FedEx spots, as long as I live in JC. It's an good neighborhood joint with good service. The only reason that I didn't give them more stars is because they don't provide any confirmation documentation that you actually dropped off your packages with them. Richie's Postnet has been my home away from home for 15 years now. I have a mailbox there. He's ol' Jersey City stock and up front and honest. It's hard to imagine all the different requests he deals with each season and he wasn't born a digital learner. Downtown Jersey City is all new money and cookie cutter people that think it's the new west village are not hip to the real Jersey City. Downtown is nice but overcrowded and a bit of a facade. Rich is extremely friendly and kind and tells great stories but he's not a pushover for those entitled to their delusions of grandeur. Visit all the neighborhoods in jc before you complain about Rich or read Helene Stapinski's "5 finger discount" to get an idea about the "real" jc- it's not sustainable. Just amazing, jaw dropping, great service! I live on the west coast and bought some items off of Craig's List in Jersey City at a great price. The seller had no car to transport the items to a pack and ship store. It was 3 days after Super Storm Sandy and many stores had no power, staff or packing material. Ooops Rich, "The Magnificent" came to my rescue finding someone to pick up my items from the seller and bring them to PostNet. He spent a lot of time and effort figuring the safest yet most economical way to ship everything to me. This entailed numerous phone calls and emails back and forth. Ah, I knew I needed to write a review after reading all the other reviews complaining of rudeness. As someone who's got a "sixth sense" for reading people, I get him. He's been in the area long before it was gentrified, and I'm sure has seen it all. Contrary to some reviews, i find Rich more than willing to help, but he also doesn't want to put his ass on the line. He's in constant flux between wanting to help and knowing he needs to get things done, and has no time to waste. If you want to drop off a package for pickup, UPS comes around 5. Leaving a package overnight is obviously a liability. I see him as being a little bit like "the Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld. Don't piss him off, and he won't piss you off. You get what you give. So as you will see from Rich (the manager's comment) - they are NOT customer service orientated. I didn't even get a chance to wait in line because he told me he wouldn't help me, period! I merely walked in with a package in hand and he took focus off his customer to yell 'Yeah?' Not a way to do conduct business or keep customers. I went in to print up a letter and once i left and went to have lunch i realized that i made a slight error in one of my paragraphs. I returned back to ask if i can just correct to very small and tiny error and i was told that i would have to pay all over again. I was willing to pay for the copy but was told i had pay all over use the computer. I was not even there more then 5 minutes when i first printed my letter. I've had to run into PostNet a few times during the year and a half I've been living in the area. I've used them to buy packing supplies, drop off (UPS drop location), and print. It's all just for personal, low-volume use, so if you're a business doing things in bulk, this review might not be a good indicator. Here are the good things I've encountered: 1 - It's not usually busy, so you can get in and out 2 - Reasonable prices on packaging materials Here's what I don't love that's taking me below 3 stars: 1 - When you're dropping off a package with a prepaid label, they don't scan your item, they just put it in a stack by the front door, which made me worried about it just disappearing. I made the decision to leave my package recently because it wasn't worth a ton and was heavy (I was selling some books), but I wouldn't do it again in the future. 2 - If you bring in something to print on a flashdrive, you have to pay to use the computer (even though it takes less than 1 minute to open a document and click print), which has a minimum cost of $2 in addition to paying for copies. This is probably not a huge deal if you are printing a lot of copies, but the times I've gone in, I've needed to make 1 or 2 copies, and this makes it a deal-breaker for me except in an emergency. read more

What is it with Jersey City businesses simply measuring up to the "good enough for Jersey City" bar? PostNet is a no-nonsense shipping center centrally located in downtown Jersey City. I've had a few forgetable transactions here though the service is not exactly friendly. However I've visited PostNet on 3 separate occassions before work at their posted opening time only to give up after waiting 10 minutes, leaving me to lug boxes into Manhattan to have them sent out directly from FedEx. If it happened just 1 time it would have been inconvenient but excusable. I would love to support local businesses if only they would get their act together. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. So bad. The people that work here are SO NASTY and rude. And not only to me, but to my husband as well on a different occasion. He dropped off a fedex package from them and when he asked for a receipt they almost took off his head! Not only do they overcharge, but they claim to take USPS but when I went to drop a USPS package off there, they told me they couldn't take it. Just an all around bad business and I will be walking the extra 15 minutes and giving my business to the good old United States Post Office. I did not have a bad experience in this place. I moved to Newark Ave 8 months ago and decided to see if they'd take a package of mine because I didn't want to go to exchange pl. to drop off a FedEx shipment that already had a label. The owner was great and just let me leave the package. Little did he know the reason I went there instead of FedEx was because I had a herniated disc in my back. Don't trust this PostNet to get your delivered mail to the right customer.......If I could give 0 stars I would!!!!! They put the priority envelope that I sent via USPS, which had a very large check enclosed, in the wrong mailbox but claimed that the postal carrier never delivered it to them. When tracking it, USPS confirmed that it had been scanned /delivered to that PostNet. Due to my concern about my large check being lost, I called this PostNet to follow up & see if they had found it......and the manager ripped me a new one!!!!!!! He was SO rude, kept denying that it was ever delivered there. Then, after ranting for awhile about how the post office loses mail all the time, he told me that it probably "fell down a sewer"!!! Real classy......way to represent Jersey big guy!! My check finally got delivered to my recipient after about a month BUT came to him in a completely different envelope (not the large priority envelope that it was originally sent in). obviously coming from a completely different person, most liikely the customer who was incorrectly given this piece of mail in the first place. Mean unpleasant proprietor. I don't recommend. For easier, quicker & more professional service, go to FedEx at Exchange Place or Staples by Holland Tunnel & avoid his time-wasting diva routines. Most copyshop/delivery stores are snappy, but this guy is obnoxious to alot of people and he appears to enjoy doing it (-check out the 1 or 2-star Yelp reviews of the JC branch). He's unnecessarily rude and dismissive if you arent one of his regulars, even if your request is simple and easy. Don't the PostNet franchise train the sales staff in dealing with customers? Pathetic to have to deal with his guy's autocratic unprofessional manner. This is supposed to be a business not his social club. Hope he retires or the PostNet franchise drop him soon... In this economic climate, he is losing them business. If I'm desperate for something I stop in, but they nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING , and reading the owner's responses makes it quite obvious that he does not care about customer service, and he called someone a "baby yelper" or something of the sort?!? Wow! Customer service here lacking in every way. When pointing out on phone that they could have done better in providing relevant information regarding implications of snow storm was told to come down there so that proprietor could "see what [I] look like." Not sure what he was hoping to see. But it certainly sounded like a threat and the implications of judging someone on appearance seem dubious to me as well. I needed a colored 24x36 print and they were quick. Staples said oh it will take a day, and it would cost 50$... I paid around 30$ and the print was amazing I had to drive with it and they were kind enough to put it in a 24x36 cardboard sheet. I don't understand why people have so many negative reviews for these people. Keep up the great work and support local JC shops. read more
