This location (newer) is not far off the beaten path of downtown and it has plenty of seating and parking. I love how they put a log in a grill out front just so you can see the smoke as you drive by. The cabin feel created by the exterior wood is really nice as is the covered patio with picnic style tables. And don't worry, there are 2 big screen TV's outside for Game Days. The fans keep air moving so the heat is actually bearable. When I'm seeking barbecue the first two qualifiers for a restaurant is quality and selection. They go hand-in-hand because it does no good to have one amazing item and that's it (like all pork) and it is equally as fruitless to have every meat under the sun but flavor and technique is lacking. Here you find both. And there is a sauce bar to fix it to your liking. I enjoy their sides, though I seldom have room for them and when I'm living on the wild side, I drink the syrupy sweet tea. Went to Pot Smoker for lunch today. It is much nicer (inside and outside) than the local BBQ buffets. It was a little pricier though. Both my fiancé and I got the chicken and pork plate with two sides. I had the macaroni and cheese and squash. My fiancé had macaroni and cheese and rice and hash for his sides. Both meats were nice and juicy. We both liked the spicy bbq sauce. I really enjoyed my squash and the macaroni and cheese. It was too much food for me, so I brought some meat home. read more

Lunch time on a Tuesday, I had the brisket sandwich with Mac and Cheese on the side, mustard sauce. It was quieter than expected. Smelled fantastic when I walked in, and the woman that took my order was very friendly and laughed at my jokes. Food was delivered quick, came out hot and steamy. Brisket was plentiful on the bun. It had a beautiful smoke ring and good bark. The Mac and Cheese could probably use a little paprika in the cheese sauce, but was good. Had I thought about it, I would have gotten a side of the sweet sauce to top it. There were a few chunks of brisket that fell off the sandwich, and it paired well with the Mac and Cheese. I put some Brendas yummy bbq suace sweet, on it. Also got backed beans, which were very flavorful too, has stewed onions and some peppers in it. i dont like thise so i just ate around it, beans were good and had some ground meat in it too. We ordered a pound of pork and 15 wings to share. We received 5 smoked wings and 10 that were just plain fried (unsmoked) with some kind of seasoning sprinkled on them. When I brought it to the cashiers attention she went to the kitchen and a few minutes later brought out 10 smoked wings. The wings were great once we got what we ordered. I'm confused as to why I didn't just get smoked wings in the first place. Pork was delicious. Just moved to town and gave this place a try. We are lifelong Southerners and love bbq. This was very disappointing from start to finish. Food was ~20 minutes later than promised. When we arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes into the pickups window they clearly hadn't even started preparing it. They hastily threw it together. When we got it home the ribs were the biggest disappointment. $25 for a rack of ribs that looked like a plate of scraps and tasted worse than riblets from applebees. They were like ribs that may have been smoked at some point but spent the last 2 days in a crock pot. The hash was so-so and they gave us green beans instead if collard greens. The pulled pork and coleslaw were the only things that we enjoyed. Will drive to New Ellenton for Carolina in the future. read more

DARNit. We had a REALLy terrible experience at this place two weekends ago!!! It was a Saturday afternoon, and we were sOo looking forward to eating the delicious food. The restaurant was not very busy, and there were three employees working behind the counter. Anyway, much to our dismay, the food just did NOT taste good. We barely ate anything, surprisingly the food was bland. My order (the portobello) came a half hour after everyone else's... and it was cold! No apologies. The portobello was not fabulous, sent out far too late, and afterwards, when we got home, i profusely vomited it all up. iCk!!! My husband and grandmother decided to go speak with the cashier as we were leaving. Grandfather and i were waiting outside. They wanted to let the cashier know that we were dissatisfied with our experience. We all waited over a half hour, as the manager took her time... one of the employees meanwhile apparently walked up to the counter from the kitchen chewing a huge mouthful of food! Finally the woman who we assumed was in charge came out... From behind the counter, this red-haired woman was extremely defensive, clearly angry, and she did not apologize at all. For at least fifteen minutes she argued with my grandmother and husband. Eventually, my husband said we would not be back to the Pot Smoker. The woman did not care. But just then, the owner or manager walked in and heard the last words of my husband, and offered a business card with two free meals written on the back. All I can say is wow. I have had BBQ is many places and different states. I always go for the brisket when available. The brisket from here is amazing. I had the brisket sandwich with greens and Mac & Cheese. Everything was top notch. One suggestion I would make based on some bbq spots I have had brisket sandwiches is they should give an option add cole slaw on the sandwich. That def takes it to the next level. Let alone the Nationwide trips that of course include brisket and different little takes on the originals. This was without doubt the worst tasting food I've ever paid for. The folks were nice and I felt like I had done well when I left with the most expensive sandwich on the menu to go. It was not what I expected in anyway. It was horrible. I had this restaurant cater my wedding and it was the best decision I could have ever made. They were very affordable, kind, and they even cut my wedding cake at no extra charge. Tried this place for the first time today. Really liked the previous bbq owners on this property - unfortunately, they didn't make a go of it. Too bad. Ordered takeout - brisket, mac&cheese, slaw. The brisket was 2 stars. Edible, but lacked flavor. And a little dry. The tablespoon of vinegar "bbq sauce" was a tablespoon of vinegar. Glad I tasted it first before applying to the brisket. Mac&cheese - inedible! Mush. This mess was sitting in a warming tray for days. You just can't serve this stuff. The slaw was OFF. Had turned sour. How long had that dish been sitting around? Call the food police - the slaw was criminal. I had high hopes but they were dashed. It's a nice place. Plenty of in and outside seating. They did a nice job of renovating the previous establishment and the staff was very friendly. But when the food doesn't make it, you have to stay away. read more

I highly recommend the Beef Brisket. It is perfectly smoked -- delicious. It is a bit pricey, but the portion is very generous. I also recommend the chopped BBQ pork tocos, offered on Tuesdays. They are wonderful, and also generously portioned. read more

We ordered takeout on Saturday evening about 5:45. The team who works there is great super friendly and willing to take care of any needs. We ordered a bit of everything. The brisket had a nice smoke ring and good fat keeping it nice and juicy. The full rack of ribs was odd it came with 9 bones normally 13 just seemed small , flavor was good. All the sides were tasty potato salad, slaw, Mac, fries, and beans. They were out of desserts which I thought was odd since dinner service just started. Unfortunately they also forgot to put any sauce in with our order so I had to run back to the restaurant and pick it up just a major inconvenience. I would love to give direct feedback to ownership if contacted. We are big supporters of local businesses and I never mind spending the extra money supporting the "cause". But I know you all could do better and be more consistent. I look forward to hearing from someone. read more

POSSIBLY THE BEST BARBECUE I'VE EVER HAD (and I've had a lot) This restaurant hits all the usual bbq restaurant niceties (e.g. atmosphere, music, informal seating, different sauces), and they really shine in three areas: 1. Service. The staff behind the register and delivering food are super helpful. If it's your first time there, tell them so, and you'll get a free sample of the pulled pork before you order. After you order and pay at the counter, they bring your meal out to your table. 2. Sides. They have the usual, but it's all high on quality (FANTASTIC slaw) and a few non-standard choices (e.g., "fully loaded"potato salad). 3. Meat. The pulled pork was so smokey, so moist, so flavorful, that I ate it without sauce of any kind - just the dry rub it comes with - and loved it. My wife and I had a sandwich, a combo platter, two sides each, and two drinks, and the total was around $26. A great barbecue dinner value. read more

We were greeted by the manager that is sweeter than sweet tea. We ordered pulled pork, hash and rice, and slaw. The pulled pork is as good or better than it gets. It has just enough smoke to tell it's there, but not enough to cover up the taste of the pork. The hash has a sweet taste to it and when you mix the meat with it, it's like it's made for each other. Oh so good. The slaw is also good. Since I had a slice of bread I made me a pulled pork, hash, and slaw sandwich. It makes a great sandwich. Did you notice I didn't mention sauce, everything was so good it didnt need sauce. But there is 4 different sauces on the table. My favorite, the mustard sauce. Personally I don't care for vinigar based sauces, its' taste is too strong and covers the taste of what I came to eat. We will be back. It's that good!!!!! read more

I had the worst experience of my life here. I came here for lunch and went through the drive through after waiting ten minutes paid and received my food. When asked to sign I reviewed the receipt and was charged 35.94 my order only came to 10.83. I was told by the employee on the window it would go back on my card with no receipt of proof. While having this convo another charge of 10.83 was applied to my card. At this point I'm extremely disappointed and asked to speak with the manager who was extremely rude and unapologetic. Never have I been treated this way at any establishment. They definitely need training on customer service. I'm out of 50 dollars as my money has still not been refunded and only have a sub par chicken salad sandwich to show for it. Don't eat here. read more
