Terrible. Most of the staff - at least 80% - are unhappy, miserable, and not courteous. In fact, the 80% number might be low. From the staff at the check-in counter, to the bartenders, to the persons working the casino floor... these people are terribly unfriendly. The rooms, while clean, lacked adequate sound proofing; throughout the night and day, I could hear people walking in their room from the floor above and I could clearly hear people talking as they walked past my room. The rooms are terrible! The new restaurant in the bar, the Rock 'n' Brew, I believe, was disappointing. Tried some chicken wings, which were flavorful, but the staff screwed up my side order thrice. The first time, my side order arrived with unwanted and unrequested cheese atop it. The waitress apologized and sent it back to the kitchen. The side order returned to my table... COLD! The waitress apologized again, sent it back to the kitchen, and returned with it later. When my broccoli arrived it final time, it was an overheated mash of green; steamed broccoli should retain a small crunch and not be mashed like baby food! The manager visited my table, apologized, and removed the side dish from my bill. I do not recommend the restaurant and I will not patronize it again. The casino floor was... unimpressive. While there were many slot machines, a handful of which were new, there were only a couple of card tables both of which were staffed by miserable persons. There is no roulette. There is no craps table. There is no fun to be had here. Compared to a casino such as the Oneida Casino near Green Bay, this is the worst casino I have visited in Wisconsin. Full disclosure I did get a free hotel room for entering a contest at the Milwaukee Poto. I thought it would be a nice getaway for my husband and I. It was a long three hour drive to get there. We weren't able to check in upon arrival but the room was ready after noon. I've never been to a casino where all the restaurants are closed on Wednesday and Thursday. They offered sandwiches at the bar for $4.50. This is in the sticks but we did find a nice supper club to eat at for dinner. By 3pm the gas station put away their hot food but did make us hotdogs. They don't offer free alcohol in the casino up here. I can understand why they don't in Milwaukee. They do have a players club though and we were able to earn some fuel vouchers. The casino is tiny and reminded me of the one in Deadwood, SD. No table games except for electronics and limited numbers of dollar slots. Not any new games. Your rewards from Milwaukee don't transfer here and I had to start from the bottom meaning no comps. There were also no king rooms and we booked a month in advance. The rooms are narrow. You open the door and almost hit the sink. There is a fridge and microwave. The beds are comfy. The tv is awkwardly placed so only one bed can see. Each room has a small patio. The shower was very narrow but did have a heat lamp. You can hear hallway noise through the doors. The pool is also closed. I'm not sure why? The facility is maskless for patrons. it was ok but I don't know if we'd make the trek again when we get free rooms and comps at home weekly. read more

Fantastic! Totally COVID safe fun! Adorable local casino- with big city health guidelines! Smoke free. Everyone has to wear masks! Temperature checks at the door! Drinks are strong. Tip well and they're even better. Kasey is a gem. As is her colleague Sam. Fish fry on Friday night is a delight. Walleye- yes please! Poached in butter with great salt and pepper seasoning to let the fish shine through. Plus fried options too. All the Spotted Cow you can drink. And people wiping stuff down all. The. Time. We stayed at the hotel while visiting my mom in Laona, WI. The room was updated and the bed was comfortable. The bar at the casino closed early due to being short staffed which was disappointing. We ate at the restaurant. The food and service was good. We spent some time in the casino. They had a good selection of games and the staff was very friendly. Overall a nice experience. This is a review of the casino, not the restaurant inside. They have a good variety of slot machines here at any price level, and a few tables for blackjack/poker. They do allow smoking throughout the whole casino, so do NOT wear nice clothes. The bar here is okay priced for the amount of booze they put in the drinks. I've seen some pretty big jackpots won and they have events like DJs or bands throughout the month. I will say this, they keep the ashtrays empty, and the rest of the place clean as well, including the bathrooms. read more

We have been staying here every year for 10 years on Labor Day weekend for my dad's race in Wisconsin. My family & friends book every year one entire year in advance for our block of rooms. Now (one week away from when we are supposed to be arriving) they called and told us they over booked and don't have rooms available. LOL WHAT? I asked if I could speak to a manager because I didn't understand how this was happening and I was told "the manager is unfortunately busy right now." What a joke. So I have had my reservations for an entire YEAR now, because I plan ahead and book the following years rooms as soon as we check out that current year, and yet our rooms are the ones they decided to cancel one week before our annual trip?? If this really happened, why on earth would you not cancel the most recently booked rooms?Make it make sense. I will never step foot in this place again. read more

Small casino but friendly staff. They even bought the table some drinks! Rare for a northwoods casino. Only has a few table games and the roulette wheel is only open at night. On this Sat afternoon they had one $10 and one $5 blackjack table. I don't play slots but there seemed to be a good assortment of machines available. They do have friendly and fun dealers working the tables, which makes losing easier! The pit boss actually bought the table some drinks which was a different experience than I have had at the other northern Wisconsin casinos. read more

Potawatomi Carter is a nice place to have some fun and spend and evening. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is okay for casino food. The hotel is clean and bed are comfortable. The only real negative is there guest Wi-Fi in the rooms. It is terrible. I don't know how they can claim free WI-FI. The wife only works in the hallways or in lobby area. I have stayed there three times in every room low signal strength if even see the network. They really should put Ethernet in the rooms to let me access the internet. This not their fault but the cell reception is bad as well. If you think use phone hotspot that going hit or miss as well. Overall, it worth the visit. read more

The four stars come with reservations. We had an extremely pleasant 3 hour drive to Wabeno to the hotel. It actually reminded me what a beautiful state Wisconsin is. Although parking and check in were easy, it seems the reception staff could use a little refresher in customer relationship. On the very good side, our room was clean and quiet. The access to the rooms are easy since it appears this hotel caters to a large number of older adults with mobility problems. We did arrive at dinner time and a few of the six in our family group were very hungry and didn't want to go out and explore the neighboring town for Friday fish fry. So we chose to stay at the hotel and have dinner. It was not crowded and we were more interested in spending time talking, because we did a lot of talking since the service was spotty. However our server, Arlen, was the most hustling guy you could ever imagine. He actually added a very positive spin to our dining experience. The brandy Old Fashions were good but did take a bit of time to get to the table. 2 people ordered the seafood Buffet which was in a suboptimal state even at 7 pm. 3 people ordered the walleye which was downright excellent. So three stars for the dining experience but we had a five-star server in Arlen. We headed over to the casino to spend our Potawatomi dollars. A word of warning for all non-smokers, this casino is a cloud of cigarette smoke. By the time we finished an hour later, it seemed all of us needed oxygen therapy. It was mainly slot machines and although all of us put some money in our pocket, it was an odd experience at best. One of the nice things is the casino is open 24 hours and they do serve hot and cold beverages throughout that time. I am an early riser and was able to serve myself coffee at 6 am. Yep, people were still smoking! Because the place was so clean and easily accessible I would give it an overall 4 stars; however go into the local towns and try to find a better place to eat. The casino is recommended only for the hardcore smoker. read more

Its an okay casino. Has a little of everything but nothing great of anything. You have to go across the road for cigs. Not once did anyone ask us for a drink order. Though the coffee and free soda are very good. Its a nice getaway but it could be better, way better. As for the hotel. Only thing available was the double queen bed setup. We had the issue of the neighbor puking all night and it was extremely loud in our room. . Beds okay. Rooms okay. Stand up only shower. No tv guide. Room was also the entrance for the main lobby, so light noise was an issue. Extremely disappointed. We wont be back on our own. read more

Thee worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. So bad that I have never written one of these reviews before but I had too after this last weekend. Went there with two of my buddies for a three night stay. Brought our ATVs. They Messed up our reservations so we only had one room with two small beds. Nothing they could do. Totally booked up they said. I ask for a cot and they give me this small plastic canvas fold up the was for kids or something. Then they called me to come carry it to room. 2:30am in the morning with a sore back I wake up and call the front desk and tell them I'm with the Governors office and he needs a room for the night. I get one. They Messed up our reservations and couldn't help us out with the room but yet they're willing to hold onto a room for a special occasion like a politician coming through town. So I guess if you stay at this casino and they screw you over tell them you're with the governors office and at least get what you want. Waited for a half hour to be seated in the restaurant the next morning and there was one waitress taking care of the whole entire restaurant. When gambling on the tables or at the machines there is no waitresses or waiters so you have to get up and get your own drinks at the bar. The food was terrible the drinks were expensive and all three of us lost our asses in the casino. I will never ever go to this casino again and I suggest that you don't either. It's the first time I've ever been anywhere and they just don't care about the customer at all. Never again!!! The ATV trails were awesome though. read more

Hotel stay was comfortable. Restaurant and bar/grill ok. Downfall is the casino. Unless you have money that you want to "throw away" don't come here for gambling. Not even fun...just takes your money right away no matter what machine....VERY TIGHT! The room was very clean, nicely decorated, and the amenities and shower were really nice. The in-room coffee was delicious. Our room had a small patio for sitting and enjoying the peaceful country setting. I ate 2 meals at The Springs restaurant and both were delicious! My only issue was with the casino...slots were so tight! It was a nice place to stay for a short getaway, though. read more

Very nice clean rooms. Modern bathrooms. It surpassed my expectations and provided a "uptown" room in the northwoods. Kohler bathroom fixtures show they sourced locally. It is indeed a little pricey but no other hotel or motel is as nice- for miles around. Worth it. read more

My wife and me went to the Flames and both ordered burgers for her Birthday on 02-06-17. Less than two hours later we were both sick. Puking and crapping all night long as we sat in the room that we reserved. The next morning I requested to speak to the restaurant manager. Ed finally showed up after I waited for 30 minutes with gut wrenching pains,I notified him of our food poisoning that we encountered. He said that they sell a lot of burgers and highly doubted it was from the burgers that we ate. This was the only thing we ate all day so we were both most certain that it was food poisoning. He took my name and phone number and said that he would investigate this and get back to me. It never happened. We have been here many times in the past but I would NEVER eat here or stay here again! No follow up or compensation offered for our suffering. Poor management! read more
