Dr Scott has been a fantastic vet so far for Calamity and Junior. I've been rotating between vets looking for a boarding place with a hospital: call me paranoid but I like knowing they will be in a medically prepared place if something happens. Having just experienced an injury scare with calamity I was expecting to need a gofundme to pay for things; things were not cheap but when you look at the itemized bill you can appreciate you are getting quality with value. Also, a 7 day course of enrofloxacin (1.5 pills/day) turns out to be about 25 dollars or so, for those looking for quantitative comparisons. One warning: it can logistically tricky if you go around multiple vets with procedures, you'll have to integrate the records well in advance, which means saving copies and forwarding them around. It can be best to start this interaction via email in case they call and you're not available, you can at least pass documents back and forth. read more

The Facility is only as good as its Leader and, Shana, is as bad as they come--not what one expects in Potomac. Shana has an aggressive staff with little to no customer service training to implement policies that Shana explains are designed to protect the Company, 1) drop-off deadlines, 2) 5 hour grooming periods, 3) no obligation to notify customer, and 4) pre-payment before any effort to retrieve the pet. Being a pet lover does not make one a people lover, and these pet lovers forget that people make their job exist. Polices are one thing but combine policies with a Staff that barely likes pets more than people and you have a recipe for disaster. And then, there is the grooming. Uneven cut and missed areas. The adage of poor leadership begets poor results is evident when one calls to complain. In this case, the Leader, Shana, argues every point and hangs up the phone with a defending tone that she will not listen to criticism. She too lacks customer service training on the meaning of "constructive feedback." One can only presume that the apple does not fall too far from the Tree and that the Owner is cut of the same cloth, which means nothing will change. This place is a Factory with a bad foreman--beware. read more

I could not schedule an appointment even after sending all the required pet's health records and waiting for 3 days. Office states that prior to scheduling any appointment, the customer should send all the records and wait for 24-48 hours before making an appointment. Unfortunately, my pet could not receive a medical service from a veterinarian. read more

Positive staff from the moment you walk in, they greet you by name and are so amazing with Marmaduke. Dr. Jason Scott treats your pets like he would his own. Marmaduke has had many different skin problems which can get costly and some vets don't care about giving you more and more meds . He is very cautious and caring about finding the right meds. I have boarded Marmaduke and take him for well visits along with removing tumors, they go above and beyond to make sure your pet is fine. I even got a call that night and the next day to see how he was doing . Professional, friendly staff! read more

I boarded my two dogs and two cats for a week with my vet. My German shepherd was healthy and came back with her nose completely scratched and bloody and she has now two broken teeth. My cat Moxie weight has gone down. we called and shared photos to show them that it did happen on their watch and they refused to acknowledge it. I use the vet services too and according to the vet my dog has good teeth. So what is it? Also they lied about my cat Moxie. They said that they called us repeatedly to let us know that she was not eating when in fact, they didn't. I have a phone log proving that. No apologizing was offered. Do not go near this place if you love your animal. I knew Dr. Scott for years and he cared for all our dogs throughout their lives and at the end. Things have changed dramatically since his departure. They constantly confuse my mothers cats with my own as far as appointments go and the rest. The receptionist said that all cats need a rabies vaccine by law, which i declined. When the actual doctor came to see my cat she was sour faced and unhappy with me for declining a shot my cat has already had elsewhere. She was cold, and told me it was the law and it was to protect her staff. I defended my stance against the "law" to vaccinate an older completely indoor cat and she got so mad at me she threw my cat in the carrier and walked out, without even weighing her. There are plenty of other vets within a mile of here and I suggest trying any but this one. Plus the prices are ridiculous. Boarding there is dangerous also I read. Your doctor held my cat a foot above the carrier, without the soft bed in it, and dropped her midair. Now she's limping and I'm at a REAL vet to see what injury she sustained. This was clear animal cruelty (a criminal charge). read more

Taking our dogs there for over 25 years. Michael Scott helped us care for 2 labs, deal with our 2nd doxie, a traumatized rescue and our current doxie. Shiva and Dr. Morrow have been great as well as Jason Scott. I have been taking my family dogs here for grooming, vet appointments, and boarding for many years now. The receptionists are very friendly and are clearly animal people :). While it is a bit pricey (which is to be expected.... it's Potomac), I'm pretty satisfied with the Potomac Animal Hospital. I have been going to Potomac Animal Hospital since 2000. My German Shepherd had been neutered elsewhere and had developed an infection. We were pleased to see the doctor kept two GSDs there himself. We've since had five animals treated there. The front desk staff are wonderful and treat everyone as old friends and often come out to greet the dogs. I've used several doctors--the drs Scott and dr Morrow. I appreciate how they go through a process of elimination to avoid a battery of tests for every symptom, and I'm told the costs during the consultation. Most recently they treated my aging pit bull, which after months ended in a very peaceful and sensitive way. Dr Morrow sent a condolence card with a donation to an animal charity. I always recommend Potomac Animal Hospital to my friends. read more

We've been taking our dogs and cats to Potomac Animal Hospital (PAH) since we moved to the area in 1998. We have received excellent care from both Dr. Michael Scott, and his son Dr. Jason Scott. The vets and their staff are always helpful, kind, and seem genuinely concerned for our pets and our worries about them. They have treated some complex problems in our German Shepherds, our cats, and our daughters Pit-mix; but they also knew when a referral to a specialist was needed if problems were outside their expertise. They are firm in their treatment recommendations-particularly about legally-required vaccinations-but they are always willing to explore options for treatments that are optional. The office is busy and sometimes chaotic. They provide emergency and scheduled veterinary care, boarding, and grooming, so it's busy. I've rarely waited more than 15 minutes to see a vet; wish I could say the same for my physicians! Like all healthcare it's expensive, but I've never felt overcharged or exploited it's fairly-priced for the location in which they practice. If you are looking for bargain pet care this isn't the place, but then neither is Potomac. We continue to take our aging Jack Russell to Dr. Scott, we use their boarding and grooming. He loves it there and is loved back. Dr. Scott and his father are highly-skilled, kind and caring veterinarians who have cared for all our pets for more than 20 years. It boggles the mind to read posts from those who feel otherwise. We have recommended Potomac Animal Hospital to many friends and family and will continue to do so. The last time I boarded my dog there, he was returned to me sick. I brought him back for medical attention the next day. After 3 days of over night care and about $1000 I withdrew him from the clinic under the suspicion that the stress of boarding there was aggravating his symptoms. I then drove him down the road to Canal Clinic where he was diagnosed with the exact and common illness that I had asked Dr. Michael Scott to check for when I admitted my dog to Potomac Animal Hospital and again over the phone a day later. I left Canal Clinic with the $15 medication that my dog needed and he was better within a week. While the staff working at the front desk of PAH were very friendly and professional, I found Dr. Michael Scott to be the opposite. He was rude, dismissive of me, and needlessly defensive when I asked simple questions about my dog's medical care. He even had his staff lie about his schedule so that he could avoid explaining my dog's illness to me (and that was BEFORE I was upset). I have never written on Yelp before, but I felt the need to after my experience at PAH. read more

We just moved away and as I was searching for a new vet I thought about how great our experience was here. Dr Jason took care of our last dog who was sick at the end. He was compassionate (as are the friendly, kind staff) and talked to me like he might a family member evaluating end of life options. When we got a new puppy he helped us get settled. Today we had to compassionately euthanize our amazing doggy Mason, it was the horrific decision we thought it would be, gut wrenching and emotionally devastating. Watching the life slip away from an animal we have adored for so long, will always be like having your heart ripped out. Then into every storm, sunshine eventually peaks through the gloom. Dr. Jason Scott and his crew were beyond anything we could have expected, their professionalism and understanding were beyond touching and compassionate. In these COVID times, they had set up blankets outside underneath a willow tree where we bid goodbye to the love of our life. For those last moments they were there prepared to stay vigil with us and be the pillars we were unable to be. Potomac Animal Hospital is the most caring, empathetic guardian of your furry children. I had been to a few different vets in Montgomery County before finding Potomac Animal Hospital. They are truly wonderful here! The front desk staff and friendly, helpful, and patient. Dr. Morrow is awesome with my dogs. She gets right on the floor with them for the exams and they absolutely love her. She treats them like her own and you can tell she's truly loves animals. I know my fur kids are in good hands. I currently live 30-40 mins away and still make the trip here for all my dog's vet needs. It is well worth it. Potomac Animal Hospital is a real gem. read more

Both my cat and elderly dog are patients of Dr Morrow at Potomac Animal Hospital. She is caring and compassionate with both animals and takes time to answer any questions and concerns that I have. My dog is a rescue and did not receive any medical attention with his previous owners. When he first began seeing Dr Morrow he suffered from just about every ailment in the books but today he looks and acts like a different dog thanks to her care. The staff is terrific and gets us in and out of the office with very little wait time - and the Saturday hours are perfect for working folks. read more

I took my 2 cats there for the first time for fleas. Everyone was very nice. I asked for them to be treated with comfortis pill and they did. I thought I would have to pay two times the visit but they only charged me for one. I was happy with this one visit. I hope it stays that way. read more

I have a 15-year old cat that needs special attention while we were away and I am a bit reluctant to leave her in pet boarding facility giving our previous bad experiences. Before we took her in for boarding, we arranged to have a tour of the facility and we were impressed. The receptionists are very friendly, knowledgable and answered all our questions/concerns. When we took her in, the check in process was smooth and fast. After two weeks, she came home happy and well groomed, I am very satisfied with the experience. read more

We took our rabbit here because she had a broken foot which had was stuck in the cage. She was still hopping around but holding the foot up.When we picked her up she had a broken back and was sprawled out. She could not move and died a few days later.Someone must have dropped her while there. They did not acknowledge or apologize for it and my kids were devastated . I have been taking my Bichon Frise to the Potomac Animal Hospital just for grooming because the groomer knows how to cut the hair of certain breeds and make them look nice. As matter of fact I sent him at least 6 customers but one by one stopped going back mostly because of his arrogance! Unfortunately one friend didn't take her dog back because the groomer burned her dog's neck. I was devastated and embarrassed but I thought maybe he didn't realize it and it was a freak accident. last week when I picked up my dog from grooming I noticed several burn marks on both sides of her inner thighs. By looking at those marks I could tell there was no way my dog had stayed calm and Mr. Groomer didn't realize what he had done. He didn't care enough to get one of their vets to take a look at her or at least leave a note for me. I notified them and sent pictures, no one called me back. So if you take you dogs there for grooming be aware that they may look nice but it sure isn't worth the risk of leaving them with an arrogant and careless groomer that can hurt your dog and get away with it. read more
