Capital Designs Construction recently completed replacing my roof. The overall process was…read morephenomenal. Capital Designs Construction is a Virginia Class A licensed and insured company that does business in the DMV. After reporting interior leaks, Benjamin, the project manager, assessed the condition of my roof for hail and wind damage. He advised that such damage was visible and recommended making an insurance claim. Benjamin was present for both of the adjuster's roof inspections and documented each. The first insurance adjuster's inspection resulted in a roof repair offer by the insurance company. The second insurance adjuster's inspection resulted in an increased repair offer. In Benjamin's professional judgement, he believed the damage warranted a full roof replacement. With Benjamin's assistance, I appealed the repair offer requesting a full roof replacement based upon the hail and wind damage identified. An engineer was hired by the insurance company to inspect my roof. The owner, Manuel, was present for this inspection. Long story short, the insurance company agreed to pay for a full roof replacement based upon the Capital Designs Construction persuasive representation of identified damage. Once the claim was approved, Benjamin provided documents for me to submit with my HOA approval application and assisted in determining my mortgager's process for endorsing the insurance check. Capital Designs assisted in every aspect of the process giving us peace of mind in their expertise and professionalism. Capital Designs Construction installed the "CertainTeed Integrity Roof System" for my roof replacement. This system included: 1) a waterproofing underlayment installed at vulnerable areas of my roof to help prevent leaks from wind-driven rain and ice dams; 2) a water-resistant underlayment over the entire roof deck that acts as a secondary barrier against leaks; 3) the Landmark architectural shingle; 4) CertainTeed ridge vents with integrated shingles, and 5) other features for long-lasting performance. The waterproofing and water-resistant underlayment was an upgrade given my home builder did not use it. The Landmark shingle is a multi-layered shingle with a granular blend that includes algae-resistant copper to prevent streaking over the years. I was especially thrilled Capital Designs Construction chose this USA made product with one of the strongest warranties in the industry. Capital Designs Construction also installed new gutters with the Leaf Relief gutter protection system to keep my gutters free of leaves and debris allowing water to flow freely through the gutters. Unbeknownst to me they installed a gutter "corner cricket" designed to disburse water at points of the roof that have a natural increase of water flow. This extra measure was just one of the ways they showed an attention to detail when assessing the contours and needs of my roof. They left no stone unturned. They installed flashing throughout the roof to prevent water from seeping under the shingles at vulnerable points on the roof. My home builder's failure to install flashing contributed to the deterioration of my roof from the hail and wind damage. Capital Designs Construction installed high end pipeboots on the plumbing vents, new exhaust vents, and a new solar attic vent. They replaced roof deck damaged by water seeping through hail and wind damaged shingles. Bottom line, having Capital Designs Construction replace my roof was a great experience. I am confident Capital Designs Construction installed a superior long-lasting roof with high performance accessories. I strongly recommend them.

They also pushed to keep mitigation equipment in place longer when needed to make sure everything was truly dry before rebuilding, which I appreciated because they did not cut corners. They handled everything from remediation and plumbing repair to demolition and full restoration, and the basement looks better than before. After that experience, I hired them again for unrelated work and found their rates to be extremely competitive.
