Ox Tails with Mac & Cheese and Candied Yams
    Gabby G.

SUPPORT YOUR BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES. Potter's House is a delicious, homestyle and great flavor Soul Food Bistro. They offer counter-lunchroom style service: wait in line, order what you'll have and they plate it before your eyes and pay at checkout. Today, our office opted for their delicious ox tails. Served over rice with two sides. When you order to go, don't forget to ask for your gravy because it's delicious! While their prices are a little high, you get what you pay for: QUALITY, FLAVOR and CONSISTENCY.

It was okay... they didn't have what I wanted. What I ate was okay. Service was okay can be better. Ambiance was vintage.

Their prices are too high for a little bit of food and their prices need to come down and do military discounts

He also does a customary walk around to each table to serve his special of the day. It's family friendly and inviting. Service is excellent. There is a person attending to tables with good old fashion southern hospitality. I truly felt like I was invited to the family cookout of someone else. Ambiance it's a truck stop. I can't say that this place is clean or you should wear your best clothing. I had a moment of should I stay or should I go while I was there. This would be the only reason not to give the 5stars Price $15 for Kids $25 for adults. I only paid $40.

Art posted on Facebook that the Easter brunch was still open to seats. They only accept cash, but I found it difficult to find the price. Not sure if this is intentional. After I went to the ATM, I panicked because they closed at 2pm. I was greeted by Art, and where to pay. He said "grab your plate, and enjoy yourself first!" After I picked what was left, ham, fish, green beans and greens, max n cheese and chicken, someone asked if I'd like tea or soda with my meal. I was brought a big cup of sweet tea. The new plate of shrimp and fried green tomatoes was brought to my table for myself only! Another worker brought over a brownie and carrot cake. We discussed Art's contribution to the area at 70 years old. He is truely a gem. He said they pride themselves on southern hospitality. At the end, all this great service and food piled high (all you can eat and more) was only $15. I gave $20, which included a tip. I filled my tea at least three times ;) 4/4

I have never had such a revelation and change of heart about a single food. This chicken will change your life! I have to drive about 30 minutes or more and 20 miles to get it and I happily do so when I get the "Shut Em Down Cravings" Each piece is individually cooked when you order it so you ALWAYS get hot (sometimes too hot to eat right away despite how much your mouth is watering) pieces of chicken. The sides are also good, though truthfully not nearly as good as the chicken, and you get two with your meal. Oh, and their home made baked good are delicious as well. The staff are friendly and quick to point out the best deal on what you are ordering (there are specials almost every day). Plus the atmosphere is VERY relaxed, sort of a diner meets Cracker Barrel (without all the junk on the wall). It is an overall bargain because it is hard to spend more than about $15 for lunch (including a drink) and you always have some to take home. There are other good fried chicken spots in JAX of course, but this is a GREAT fried chicken spot. Heck, now I've got the darn "Shut Em Down Cravings", guess it is a trip across the river for me soon.

Their wings and fries combo used to be $6 and is now $8 -- which, honestly, I totally get with how prices have gone up everywhere. Even at $8, it's still a great deal for the portion you get. The wings are crispy, flavorful, and always fresh, and the fries are seasoned just right. Plus, their lemonade is super sweet in the best way -- perfect for a hot Florida day. If you see them out and about, definitely pull up. You won't regret it!

So good, I had to go back to get more for dinner. This food truck is located at the corner of Lane & Normandy in the parking lot of Emmanuel Food Store on the westside. You can call in your order or just walk up and place your order at the food truck window. The service is really fast and friendly. Everything is made to order. I recommend the wings in any of their combo plates. The wings, shrimp and French fries are seasoned and cooked perfectly. There's a little kick in their Sweet & Tangy sauce that raises the bar for the mustard-based bbq sauce in town. I really enjoyed the flavors. The portions are generous for the price. I have added Lewey's Seafood & Wings to my rotation of best little chicken wing spots in the area. And the Garlic Shrimp Plate with a boiled egg, sausage, potatoes, corn on the cob and peel-n-eat shrimp smothered in garlic butter is pretty filling, too. There are covered picnic tables conveniently provided at this location where you can eat your entree on-site. They don't sell any beverages, but you can buy one at the convenience store next door. Definitely no fuss and nothing fancy. Just delicious wings and seafood.
