The food was excellent I ordered the wings and the BBQ chicken, and rib plate. The service was quick, and the overall ambiance was pleasant. This is not a sit down location, you order at the window and take it with you. The prices are great. My total came to about 28 dollars if I remember correctly, that was with 3 meals, one extra side, and one drink. Their yams are very sweet, in the future I would ask for them to be a separate containern so the juices don't saturate my rice. I feel like the food is went downhill in the past years or so. I think the quality has been produced. Most of their clientele is the elderly so I understand why the food is so cheap. But the food didn't always taste that bad. To me it's not even worth five dollars. It was so bad to the point where I would only go up there to get honey drippers, and even though that fell off. I feel like Miss butter and her staff need to go back to the drawing board and invest in quality items. But I can't say that the service is pretty fast. If you do order your food, you will receive it in about 10 minutes or so. read more

Talk about affordable, delicious choices! Every day is a surprise, but you can be sure you'll get a tasty heaping serving of rice and the sides for a few bucks. So far the ribs are my favorite, but the collard greens are to die for. I've heard they will make specialty drinks occasionally with fruit in them. Of course, you can't leave without a dessert and honey dripper, too! The staff are professional and helpful if you'd like recommendations. When you arrive, park where ever you can find a spot then look at the menu board (updated daily) to choose. You'll then place an order outside with a staff member under the covered porch area and pay (card and cash are both accepted). The food takes less than 5 minutes to be served up piping hot and in a take away container. There is seating on benches outside and covered, but it is all outdoors. I love the decor and updated paint on the building giving is a very North Florida, Southern vibe. Get ready to enjoy! read more

Went here yesterday after fishing. Lemonade was advertised. I asked they lady if it was fresh squeezed or concentrate. She said concentrate but it was fresh made. My friend ordered 2. It was red. Cherry limeade. I drink 100% juice so NO artifical corn syrups for me. Asked if the turkey wings come in gravy..she daid yes. It was one flat covered in brown beef gravy. Not expecting that. Lima beans...brown with a hot sour taste...NO! Yellow rice...tasteless. Collard greens..asked if they had pork in them. She says no so they didn't but i usually cook mine in turkey stock so they will be flavorful. Corn bread....no taste and burned on the bottom. I cook for a living over 35 yrs. so as a chef these are the rules. Each item on the plate must stand on it's own in flavor and appearance even though they should compliment each other and marry. Salt does not equal flavor. It is a preservative and a little goes a long way. Accent is a chemical tenderizer ( monosodium glutamate)that a lot of restaurants don't use any more because it triggers asthma and headaches. I don't know for sure if it was in there but i got a massive headache later. I ate very little of the food and left hungry. The friend took most of it home to his pet. read more

Well one of my favorite places to eat for years lost me forever as a customer today, since I've moved to the Westside over a year ago I still make the trip to the Northside to eat at a place I've always enjoyed, today was my second time this week, I've been going through radiation treatments of the head and neck area which makes it super difficult to swallow not to mention I had to have all my teeth pulled, usually they have entrees that are tender enough for me to eat Monday the meatloaf wasn't so tender so I didn't want to try to order that again and the fried chicken is just out of the question. I got there right at closing time and the options were limited which I didn't mind at all, I asked the young lady taking orders could I order a veggie plate basically with the two veggies for sides and extra rice and gravy in place of the meat, the lady curtly and rudely told me I could either order three sides which was a little cheaper as long as I didn't want the cornbread also or order the dinners like they were on the menu, I was both shocked and speechless, then she felt the need to add to either take it as she sells it or leave it she didn't care, I have never had anyone here ever act or be rude like she was, even after this I still paid for the dinner and the three side dishes when I tried to tip her $3 on a $9 and some change ticket she told me to keep my money she didn't need it. I can't count the times in the past that I'd shown up at closing and they'd pack your plate to get rid of the rest of that day's food, as a matter of fact the first time I ate there that is exactly what happened and when I felt how heavy the bag was I was like wow that's a lot of food and the woman said you got lucky it's closing time so we just filled it up to get rid of the rest of what was there, laughed and smiled and said you got the lotto plates today. From the combination of the food, the prices, and the super friendly service I had been hooked and a loyal customer for years, that all ended for me today. For now on I'll just spend my money and take my business on the side of town I live on and take that young lady's advice and leave it. I only picked a star so I could post this otherwise I'd left them empty, no stars. read more
