Gift Store: Amazing selection priced from $5.00 to $600.00 depending on your budget. Give yourself plenty of time to look because you don't want to miss anything! I do all my gift shopping here. Seriously! 2. Painting Studio: Great selection of pieces to choose from. The cost depends on what you paint. The pieces are from $12.00-$80.00. Then you add a $7.00 which pays for any paint you use and the firing. There is not a sitting fee (woo hoo!) so you can really take your time and relax and enjoy. I take my family here when they are in town. Plus, you can get custom gifts for others. I found out the hard way to not wait until the last minute. It takes 1 week for regular painted pcs and 2 weeks for custom. I think they have a rush fee if you really need it fast though. ;) 3. Pottery Studio: Best stress relief ever and who doesn't want to play in the mud? 2 types of classes: 1. Single class: you make a plate and paint it that day. (it takes 2 weeks to get back but it was well worth the wait.). Then they have their 4-week Adult pottery classes. You can make a slab project casserole dish, bowls and then paint them. Then on to bigger things after that in the next 4-weeks. Great stress reliever! The students love it so much they stay for lunch! Advice: 1. Sometimes, especially on Saturdays, they get busy). You can call ahead and see how busy they are. 2. Take a picture of the pieces you make and put your name on the bottom for easy pickup. 3. If you have an issue call them and let them know. I came into Potter's Wheel a couple of weeks ago with my grandsons and loved the place! The store part is AMAZING and nice to look around. The painting area I found great for someone of any age, and my grandsons ( 3 and 5) had so much fun painting. Thought it was worth a review ( my first yelp review). Customer service was great, all the girls there were always welcoming and great at helping without us having to ask. Only down side was one of the girls who was working that day. While I was checking out she continuously said under her breath to another girl who was working that she got off 5 min ago and was trying to leave, and customers wouldn't stop bothering her (meaning I was one of those customers). I get that sometimes you get caught up while working and when your work day is over you want to leave but to say that in front of a customer without any concern for them isn't the best way to present the store. I'm not one to complain because I get it, but the experience I had was amazing, but the only down side was starting the experience off with an employee complaining about having to check you out because they're ready to go. I'm writing this review now even being a couple of weeks ago because the same young lady helped me retrieve my pieces had the same attitude as the day I first came in with my grandsons, whose name I asked for (Jessica). Sometimes the face of the store or how someone greats you can leave an impression of the store, and that kind of greeting isn't a good remembrance. Came into Potter's Wheel not too long ago and I've got to say its a pleasant surprise walking in and expecting just a gift shop and finding out its also a pottery studio. I noticed signs were up asking to give your opinion on yelp about the store and thought it was well worth a review. My girlfriends and I went in to just look around and shop but ended up staying to paint, as it was a late birthday gathering for me, so I got treated to some painting. The staff is so lovely in the way the greeted me and my girlfriends as well as the way they helped the entire time I was there. The girl who checked us out, Charity made us feel so welcomed there. The young lady who helped us while we painted, Hope helped so much (since we had no idea what we were doing!). She was very attentive to us even when they got busy she still took the time to check on us, and to get to know us and how our day was, just very good customer service. Overall we will most definitely come back! I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice treat, it will be well worth the visit from the great things in the store to the amazing young ladies that helped us out!! read more

I was there last night with my family and I loved the idea of the place. The prices weren't bad at all and it's a good range of items. It was quite busy when I came but seemed okay managed. The problem I saw was the girl that was helping us was having to do everything herself. I felt so bad because we needed more paint or napkins and I hated asking her but she was so patient with us and never minded. The girl helping us was Hope, which her attitude fitted her extremely well. The girl who was too busy to help her coworker out and would rather tail a customer around like a puppy dog was Jessica. Who we never even met the entire time we were there because she was busy( doing nothing) elsewhere when she knew she was needed. Thankfully I asked her name so I could write this. Overall amazing place just some girls like her need to learn how to stop what you're doing and help someone in need out. While my kids were finishing up painting I got to look around the store and it was so unique for gifts and personal items. I will most definitely be back to paint and shop!! read more

First off want to say that the store here is FABULOUS, as well as the party's they throw here. Came here with a group of ladies a couple weeks back and attended a wheel party. The experience was so much fun for all us ladies and is definitely an event we'll never forget with all the laughter that was going on. Had the sweetest girl helping us, Hope was her name. I can't express enough how kind, and patient she was with us when we were working on some slab type work with her. Anything we needed at all she was willing to go out of her way to help. Service like that is what makes anyone want to go back again! From the time we walked in she greeted us and helped us not feel lost, considering how there were about 15 of us, and helped us get situated with our wheel instructor and then went on to help half of us with our project to start off. The Potter's Wheel is my absolute favorite giftshop and venue for creative expression! I was introduced to the Potter's Wheel 18 years ago, at their old location, when my daughter attended a 4 year old's birthday party; I still have the piece she painted. I have since painted pottery there, attended other child and adult birthday parties, and made a gorgeous wreath for my front door. The staff is always so helpful ~ sharing how-to's and artistic suggestions. It is always a fun & welcoming atmosphere. At the Potter's Wheel, I have bought some of my favorite pieces of home decor and countless gifts over the years. They carry well known products and artists such as One Minute Manicure, MacKenzie-Childs and Jan Barbaglio to one-of-a-kind pieces of pottery, jewelry, candles, baby and men's items. I'd like to give a couple of different reviews for this place. Came here this past weekend with some lady's to look around and shop. The store is very lovely, and its a very diverse place to go to with a lot of options for entertainment for all ages. A girl who was working, Hope was very attentive with us lady's even when it was crazy busy when we were there she took the time to talk to us and show us around, A+ for that. We were there for a good while enjoying ourselves and just taking in everything in the store. The owner there, Kathryn even took the time to talk to us which was incredibly refreshing to us knowing she probably had better things to do and was such a delight to talk to. My husband and I were in Houston from Jan-Mar for his work. Potter's Wheel became my FAVORITE shopping destination. I went every week... and some weeks twice! Kathryn and her staff are so friendly and helpful whether you are browsing or seriously shopping! I think I went to see the staff as much as I did all the fun and beautiful items. Among my purchases were jewelry, scripture stones and some of Kathryn's pottery. I even commissioned a pitcher to match the platter I already have. My one regret during my time there was that I wasn't able to attend one of the pottery classes. This shop will be my first stop on my next trip to north Houston. read more

We enjoy the Potter's Wheel as a great place to find truly unique gifts. So many items to choose from. We've even found some decorative items there that we've admired in magazines. One of our daughters enjoys taking friends visiting her from out of state there to paint a piece of pottery as a special keepsake. At Christmas, even though we have many decades of ornaments, we have to get a few new ones here for us and duplicates for our daughters' families because we've learned that when they see our decorated tree they want to know where the new ornaments came from...it's fun to surprise them! Potter's Wheel has been a favorite of my family for many years. My kids have been painting pottery here for as long as they can remember and they still love it now that they're in their late teens and early 20s. It's just such a fun activity to do as a family or with their friends. We also love shopping here - I can always find a unique gift or something fun for myself. They carry several specialty collections that you can't find everywhere like Vietri, Mackenzie Childs, and Julie Vos. I took a pottery class here one night a week here for one month during last summer and it was fantastic. The class was very small so the instructor spent lots of one-on-one time with me. I learned all about the pottery-making process and got to pick out the pieces I wanted to make. I even brought in a picture of an enormous shell bowl I wanted to make and the instructor helped me recreate it! Even better, halfway through the class, we walked over and picked up Fuzzy's Tacos and brought it back for dinner. It was a great experience and I would definitely do it again! read more

This is a great three in one store, a little gift shop, paint your own section and fully functional pottery studios. There are so many options of things to do here and all of them are amazing. There is an expansive paint your own section with so much to choose from, I love making personalized gifts here. It's not only made with love but is professional looking and fully functional. Absolutely love the Potter's Wheel! I have been coming here for years and have had a great experience every single time. The store is beautiful and the "paint your own pottery" section is so much fun and an awesome activity to share with friends and family. I previously wrote a review in how dirty the store is. I will say that I received an apology I believe from the owner which I appreciate. Still doesn't excuse the many times I've walked in here and saw the filth. Don't apologize to me, fix it. I was also just messaged and not replied to. Hmm I not a yelp expert but I find that odd. Organized a gathering for 13 people(5 of which are men) for a pottery class making and decorating plates. We all had a very good time. Dana was our instructor, and she did an excellent job with our large group of people. She is very hands on, as well as detailed oriented while explaining the process. I also appreciated her patience while working with the younger ones. I highly recommend this place, and will be back very soon. I absolutely LOVE the Potter's Wheel!! I've been taking lessons there since 2008 and I highly recommend it for either pottery classes or just to come in and paint a piece!! I just find it funny how all bad reviews on this location are put into the "non recommended" column. Also find it funny how when they started getting bad reviews all of a sudden they got a mass amount of good ones from people who take classes there. This store is low class, full of cheap items priced at a much higher value then what they're worth. Not worth the money, or the visit. This is a the best place for families, couples, or even going single! They have gifts between all price ranges and for all ages. They even have a painting and pottery studio for kids and adults! My son and I had a great time painting today as we were trying to stay out of the rain. He is less than 2, and ate more paint than what ended up on his peice, but thankfully the paint is non-toxic!
